I have just started collecting graded cards and they look amazing. My favorite is the yu nagaba umbreon. All in all I want to say thank you Jake for being an inspiration for me as a collector. I love my collection binders. I don’t have much time to play the game but I am happy to have Pokémon in my life again and you were a big help for that. Thank you for everything you do for the community.
My yu nagaba eevees came back about at a 50% ratio 10 vs. 9. Sent in 3 full sets. Mightve gotten a grumpy grader though. Excellent list! Interesting to see the top list this year
Crazy how you’d think Erika will eventually take over iono just because the 151 set lol. As we speak, an iono auction psa 10 on eBay just ended at $800 and Erika currently worth 200-250 in a 10 so it’s got a long way to go
So either PSA is lying or your stats are wrong. Because they def released a list themselves of the Top 5 graded Pokémon cards and your list is very different from theirs.

I think people believe that modern cards are going to be worth what 1999 base set is today in 20 years. Except 1. Everyone actually used the cards to play the actual game back then and dinged the cards up as no one thought they were going to ever be worth anything and B. Many people lost or didn’t keep track of their cards the past 23 years let alone grade them as again no one thought they’d be worth anything and as a result vintage cards are much more limited in population. Today most people are collectors and not actually playing the game and are slabbing everything believing they’re going to have a 1st edition Charizard 20 years from now. Print runs are also WAY higher than what they were 20+ years ago.
You are sort of right and quite wrong at the same time. Yes, most people played the game. Certainly people (kids at the time) didn't think so much in monetary value. But to say the print runs are higher? The base set was literally the most overprinted set in history. (7 times apparently! plus Base Set 2), It did drop significantly after ~2002 though that is true. Skyridge is way more limited. Also you are ignoring how valuable some modern cards can be. Nanjamo goes for about £800 in PSA or so. (Even though it's only over 1 year old). But you may be right about the more common cards since there will be a horrendous surplus. Then again, the base set unlimited Charmander is still only worth about £1 (partly because of how beat up the old cards are, like you said.
My theory as to why Van Gogh pikachu still remains so high is that most of the ones that should’ve gone to the secondhand market are still in limbo at the grading companies.
The Gray felt hat Pikachu is gone from the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam too. We were there couple weeks ago and you only get postcard of that pikachu. And the promo is ending on January so im pretty sure that they are not gonna stock it there anymore either. Thats a shame that they sold/gave that card away if you bought something from the pokemon center website so bots got almost everything and it's big shame that everyone who visited the museum didn't even get that card. They should not have "sold" it on the website if they were gonna run out of them at the museum. They should have done the promo better and have more security at the museum and after the promo would end at the museum only then they should have put the rest of the cards in the pokemon center website.

I'll never understand how people break each others noses fighting and paying $500 for an ultra modern ultra overprinted non holo Pikachu wearing a hat yet 25 year old rare mint low pop WOTC holos have plummeted into the gutter and sold for less than grading cost on my auctions
I sort of know what you mean. But the old way of just putting them in binders does make it problematic. For high value cards in particular. Just slipping a card in and out constantly can slowly damage it, not to mention you accidentally use a nail and bam, your card instantly becomes much less desirable. Putting the card in a case/slab like this basically protects it and you know it has been evaluated by a third party. At the end of the day, you can always open a slab , breaking the seal
I don’t get the Magikarp appeal. Its similar to Giratina Alt Art. I love the Giratina, but something about the Magikarp I find off putting. Can some explain it’s appeal?
Hi Jake, could you please let me know the source where it says that in January the museum will release more cards? I’ve been to the museum and called recently and they said that since the collaboration went so terribly they would not distribute any more products or cards. Thanks.
I don’t think the museum will redistribute the cards, it’s supposed to be released through some game stores in the Netherlands, just not sure which ones.
@@tmilly15 I think that they will just let it be and not redistribute it again. They saw all the reselling outside the museum, their website went down for days and the Pokemon Center website went in a matter of seconds, so I think they will not redistribute it, but we’ll see.
I wonder how many graders work there. 1,000,000 cards graded is 1.9 cards per minute (working 24 hours a day with no day off). How long do they spend on each card?

What this list just goes to show is grading and is just so stupid on these modern cards. There are just too many of these cards being graded that don't need to be, especially when bulk rate prices are still $15.
Its all abount money, thats what grading is. I hold all my cards in a binder and maybe just maybe in 10years or so if some are really expensive i ll grade some and sell. But grade everything kills the fun

Growing stupid like this comment. People are wanting to grade and authenticate their purchase. Seeing $20 to $50 cards 3x to 5x their value being 9 to 10s.
Are there really 18,000 people out there who want a PSA graded Japanese Magikarp, or is it a bunch of people hoarding 10s, maybe even 100s of copies? As much as I like the card, I find it hard to believe that many people want it graded.

It’s crazy to see how the felt hat pikachu is still so expensive with so many graded 10 copies.
The English version of the magikarp card is very pricey but the Japanese version is still relatively cheap. I picked up two copies for under $20

TPC confirmed it would be a promo card for certain Dutch retailers in January, but not at the museum

I use sgc. My local shop counts it as 70% psa value and i keep all the 10s i get back in my pc. At 9 bucks cant really go wrong
