2017 BMW 2 Series 230i Unboxing - The Best BMW On Sale Today?

- For today's unboxing review we have for you the 2017 BMW 230i Coupe, without question one of the best BMWs (if not the) on sale today. And - get this - it has a base price of $32,850. Yeah, really. Powered by a 2.0-liter turbo inline-four with 248 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque, power goes straight to the rear wheels through either an 8-speed automatic or a six-speed manual, the latter is available at no extra cost. All-wheel drive costs another $2,000, if so needed. So why do we love the 230i so much? Because it's the spiritual successor to classic BMWs such as the 2002 and the original E30 3 Series; a small, front-engined, RWD coupe who's main focus is driving fun. Is it luxurious? Yeah, when properly equipped, but old school BMWs weren't exactly luxurious but rather premium driver's machines with precise German tuning. That's the 230i today.
Our tester came painted in Valencia Orange for an extra $550 along with $600 18-inch light alloy wheels. Of course you can pile on the extra (and expensive packages), but there's really only one that enthusiasts will want: the $2,300 Track Handling Package. Bottom line: the original Ultimate Driving Machine lives on, all for around $35,000. Enjoy the review!

m sport package is still a must tho
Agreed. For not much extra, you get a lot more car - and much more fun. Ours is a 2016 MSport - with the 6-Speed Manual - Just love it
Just got 2017 230ix MSport, love it. The Dinan piggyback tune just got put on and it pulls so much better. Huge difference over stock. Totally worth the $1k
I own a 2015 228i, same color and packages, and I love it!!!
How has the reliability of this car been for you? I am considering to buy a new 2021 230i 4cyl with manual.
why BMW still uses stock halogen lights is beyond me.
cyronader they can’t afford more expensive ones the 5” lcds of the infotainment sucks up all the budget!! Hahahaha 😂😂😂😂
The same reason they still use a manual handbrake on many models.
@@PTZOUTZ
Yeah they are tight but so is the road holding.
We having our 2 series delivered new end of august, can't wait! Love this car, I test drove m sport 2 weeks ago & made my decision from audi, Mercedes, Volkswagen, ford and many others. Choosing this beamer was a no brainier) it drives so sweet..................... United Kingdom, bristol.
Tried many of those, including Nissan 370Z...the final competition was against a BMW 340i, which is gorgeous but the 230i wins, based on handling..
Hows your experiences of having someone in the back seat?
Do you also think this is the most reliable BMW in the current line-up considering it doesn't have any tech gimmicks compared to other higher BMWs?
Sang Eeth in the future probably yes
Perhaps, but I'm not so sure. I don't think the 2 Series has had any major issues.
Several years in, considered highly reliable
Your shadow looks like Darth Vader. All the best
Came here looking for this review
I have looked for a 2021 230i with a manual on AutoTrader, but I don't see a single one in the US. Manufacturers make these cars but no dealers have any. Are we supposed to order one on blind faith, that we will like it?
I Have This white Convertible, red seats, with Sport Package... love it
Trying to decide between this or a Mustang GT base for the same money. Any thoughts? Nice review - thanks!
hyperlicht I would get the 2 series it has more room, I own one and I love it.
TGaming100 hows the torque on that baby, i heard its very torquey
2300 m sport package is good to have to profit dealers. In real world driving, you'll never take advantage of it. In stock form, this car is all you need on the streets.
But if you want to track it then the M Sport Package could be a good buy.
For track use....the Track Package I think would be the "must have" vrs the mostly cosmetic M-Sport package.
You are not old enough to remember the 2002 lol. I had a BMW Bavaria, and a 1986 745i. Now that's old.
That’s the model not the year
How much do they want for LED headlights and taillights, and a backup camera?
I think it's a part of another package that costs something like $1,500 - $2,000.
Shell Casing led headlights are $900 which is solid considering it costs around that amount per headlight used
The LED tail lights are coming for the facelift in a couple months
Dixie Normous Yeah you can.....
A lot
Outstanding sir.
Great video. Love mine - just a fun car all around.
Beautiful!!!
Exactly. Pure BMW.
after your review i think im gonna buy this car lol. so what do u think about the changes on 2 series bmw is planning for 2018???
anything dude?
the facelift on the two series will be practically imperceptible, as it was with the 3 series. Dont worry, if you buy it, your car wont look dated :)
Additionally, now that the numer of the cars changed (all the 28s changed to 30s and the 35schanged to 40s) you can get GREAT deals on 228s and M235is in the used car market or in bmw premium selection.
Fernando Rosas M240i has a better engine ever from the M2. So will they change M2's engine?
Basilhs Kiriakopoulos I own one with the same color, wheels, black grill and I personally love it you should get one, also they have released details on 2018 and not much is changing
Basilhs Kiriakopoulos well then don’t buy it buy the 2018 this video was published at the end of 2016!
TOO BAD ya can t attach the AWD with a 6spd manual :( DOES it have bluetooth ??
can anyone tell me if i can change my bumpers from this model to the sport ones after having bought it?
Did you find a bumper?
good review
yes it does have dual zone climate control. wrong on that. you can see the 2 different temps right there. dual zone is standard. also why would it ever come with quad temp control its a tiny coup? i think that would be overkill
Is this using B48 engine or B46 Sulev version?
Where did you get the jerrycan luggage? Flipping so cool Great review btw my m240ix is in manufacturing can't wait. Thanks for your help
Thank, glad you enjoyed the review! Here's the link for the jerry can luggage: g-case.myshopify.com
Nice review. What does BMW call this color? - Valencia Orange, thanks!
OK! You answered your question. That's it for me. I'm out :-)
My 2015 M235i is a blast. Why settle for a 230i?
Money?
Because there is much less weight over the front wheels, therefore it handles better and uses much less fuel.
Great video. From a technical perspective, good camera work, and it's refreshing that you:
A) did not feel the need to have music, which is usually distracting or too loud;
B) were to the point yet enthusiastic, and informative.
Will subscribe.
Happy Holidays
I'm worried about the water pump and oil pump going in addition to having to dig out the engine to make repairs. In addition to the plastic parts in the engine breaking. Depreciation is major.
All the best Shaun of NYC
Did you buy one of these?
Should've review the I-6 Manual
I use to own a 2013 128i limited edition and it was a fun car for the value. I just wish BMW went back to their roots but of course...government regulations
BMW did go back to its roots with this 2 Series!
CarBuzz - Unboxing Everyday Cars and Supercars I think he meant having the naturally aspirated straight 6 versus the new turbo 4. I've grown to love the new turbo 4 to be fair, as a pervious 528i owner and current '14 328 owner. booooost
omg, i love this car
no sunglasses holder?
guys going crazy pushing buttons
I keep atching this vid. Shaun of nyc
Beautiful color. Too bad BMW doesn't let you spec it with the M Sport steering wheel.
I got the 230i and I was able to select the M Sport steering wheel. I ordered directly via BMW.
Exarathas If you get the M Sport package you get that and the much nicer bumpers. Opt for the track handling package and you get better wheels and the upgraded brakes. Basically the m240i suspension.
Kenneth Lee Both of you are wrong. You can get the M wheel thrown in for no extra charge with the combination like I have. Use the code DEV018EB to see my build.
Mr CarGuy...how did you order the M-Sport steering wheel "separately" as I don't see it as a stand-alone option on the BMW Build-Your-Own site? I had that wheel on our former 2014 F31 M-Sport Sportwagon and loved it...with the 230i coming standard with sport seats, its really only the M-Sport steering wheel that entices me to order the M-Sport package. 2nd Question: how are the beige Sensatec seats holding up to staining? Thanks!
You can get it, but I agree with my BMW rep no big upgrade.
Europe has a 1 Series. It's an RWD Hatchback. I don't know what you're on about >.>
And just as you said that there's no dual zone climate, you literally just show us the dual zone AC.
i know that annoyed me 2 separate temps right in front of his face. smh
How about seat passenger at second row is comfort the position for long trip?
oh god if this car come to Indonesia the price will be 3 times expensive, more than $100,000 #riptax
$100,000??!! Holy crap, that's just plain nuts. And yes, the second row of seats is snug.
CarBuzz - Unboxing Everyday Cars and Supercars Yes sir, because in Indonesia there is Tax for luxury item like car and that is goverment rules #riptax
Fyi, BMWnya Tunas gada Serie 2 Coupe bro, adanya yang Tourer. Berniat ngambil BMW kah? :D
in israel the cars is more expensive than the USA that same car is 250000 in israel
Who cares how much it costs in Israel?
This is NOT the 2017 model!!!!!!!!!
yes it is
230i came out for 2017. it was a 228i prior to that. 2014 to 2016 was 228i. New engine in 2017 hence new model number.
And you immediately lose “ultimate driving machine” cred by not having a manual...ugh...
Bro you talk about how great it drives and you didn’t even drive it! I had a 2017 330 and I have driven 2016 228 and they drive almost the same which is not that great! Unless you have the track handling package these new bmw handle like crap any Mazda handles better, my si handles much better! Hell my 1998 318ti with m package handled much much better then this or any bmw now without a handling package... and now even the m package most of them have the standard suspension so it’s just looks.. they used to all have a sport suspension..
Lol. First dislike
overpriced
Foreign Made It stick with your Mustang kid
u talk to fast....
Awesome car...for a chick. Any man should consider nothing less than the M240 or M2.
TheMark24 Couldn't agree more or unless your a man under 5"10 with friends and family the size of munchkins!!
TheMarkcu24 lol
@@jasonaugustine4426 you didn't get what TheMarkcu24 meant. The m240 or m2 both have more power than the 230i so he meant if your a real man you get those models. nothing to do with the size of the car. they're all the same physical size. stupid comment by him either way
Judging a man by what car he drives.. Someone is clearly lacking else where 🤭
As a dominant male I got the 230i due to financial reasons, If money was out the questioned wouldve gotten an M4, But Im happy with my little 230i till then.
230i is for chicks. Men get the 240 or the M2. End of story. Just like no man should drive anything less than the SS Camaro, the GT Mustang, the R/T Challenger, and the S3/S4. Anything less are poser cars. If you want that level, get the 330i. The two series are sports cars, act like it.
says the guy with a rusted out hyundai and a 3 inch penis
@@thisisrob8750 nope, 2018 m240i xdrive. you are, however, correct about penis size unfortunately. nothing wrong with a hyundai though, great value for the money. I've had 2 in the past.
