  • This was a John Deere 135G with a drained battery. Now, you might be wondering how we’re going to jump a 24v battery with 12v without blowing it up. Watch and learn as the heavy-duty mechanic shows us how to jump-turn an excavator using the service truck.
    This one is for @Justypower89 who had a question about how to jump start 24v excavator when you’ve only got 12v. Honestly, if the battery is drained we recommend changing it because it’ll just die on you again. But for educational purposes, we’re showing you how to make a mini excavator start when the battery is dead. Enjoy!

    He's exactly right, in my deuce (24v), if my batteries die, I can jump it with my pick up that's 12v, as he said, one battery at a time. If anything, I find having quality jumper cables and clean battery terminals make for more efficient jump.

    That's an awfully big 35G l think somebody missed a number in the description lol. My old man had a battery explode on him the top blew off and went flying across the yard I don't remember what group size it was maybe a 65. Batteries can turn into bombs waiting to go off you have to be careful dealing with lead acid batteries.

    So the bridgewire that connect the two 12Volts batterys can stay on while doing this?

    • @Rayden440
      @Rayden440 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      A year late, but yes. From the perspective of the other battery, only one cable is connected so nothing will happen. Think about your car: disconnecting the ground is usually sufficient to cut off power.

    Here in AZ we say new batteries and brakes every 2 years. The heat just wears em out. So out have habit, I put a battery load tester on the 50 hour checks. Don't even boil the bat on bench, if the Volts and cranking amps are low. Seen and heard batteries blow up on the dumby charger. Has Cam used that Mini Ductor yet? I thought about buying one it's just pricey.

    2.2volts per cell max charge, 12 volt batteries contain 6 cells totaling to 13.2volts total charge available. Im an A&P and this is the stupid maths that damage brain cells.

    Can a dodge cummins 2500 24v system jump start a honda crv 12v system? Someons said they would blow up my system if they did it with their truck?? Would it really kill my electrical??

    • @christopherdickinson4291

      Batteries on a truck like that are run in parallel not series so even though there are 2 batteries it's still a 12v system.

      That really depends on the pulley size the vehicle manufacturer decide to use. Remember there is essentially an overdrive pulley ratio between the crank pulley and the alternator pulley, which means alternator is spinning way faster than the engine (usually somewhere between 2:1 to 3:1 ratio). Alternator output is also affected by temperature, the higher the temperature the worse it performs. I've seen buses run with massive alternators on a Detroit S60 which needed to be liquid cooled by engine coolant.

    I use a welder, works better, I just unplug the ground from the welder, hook the ground up to the mirror and put the stinger on the starter, angle the mirror so I can see the escape path, put the swamper in the cab to keep the key cranked over , plug the ground into the welder and whamo.. it either starts or I call the rental company right after the fire department and the new one will have a good battery.
