GRB rubs the environment on you for no reason, though. It doesn't change your temperature and slow you down or drain stamina/water faster. It doesn't improve your camo. It doesn't make your weapons more prone to malfunctions. It's only cosmetic unless you enter an animation. MG is known for small details. I can definitely see the mud being real, and I can see MGS making it affect the gameplay.
That would be cool if they build upon it in the next game and it does.

Damn this looks good! Can't wait to be creeping through the swamps and jungle! I'm gonna have to play Phantom Pain and Ground Zero! I literally bought the bundle last year for Christmas and NEVER opened it!

And I agree that Breakpoint- for all the crap I've thrown at it over the years- was beautiful. That gives it like 1 out of 5 stars. MY stars (for reference in no order of importance):
1) Graphics
2) Gripping / Ghost Recon level Story
3) Weapon Diversity
4) Gameplay mechanics
5) Feel
I never played any of the MG games for whatever reason- and yes... Ubisoft has traditionally done reasonably well in pre-alpha with making things "look" gorgeous. They then use this mechanism to overhype their progress to release... where at least since Breakpoint a large number of their titles took a dump in their bedsheets, tossed them in the dryer and ran it.
I am a 100% skeptic that Ubisoft management can wade through its own incompetence to achieve anything- irrespective of the likely talent pools that exist down in the trenches.
ya bro especially with seeing how avatar looks I really dont know whats goin on with ubisoft studios not pushing the envelop. I'm just hoping other studios can put out some banging games for us to sink our teeth into.

This looks awesome G, but how many times do we see advertising footage like this only to see the words at the bottom, Not actual game content or footage, but if the game is going look like that in game I’ll buy it.

It's cool and all, but I'm just sitting here wondering why most of good new major releases are reboot or remake, and why isn't there more new IPs and ideas for stealth/tactical games aside from the indie scene.
Even Wildland level of innovation would be interesting, as in introducing new elements to and remixing them in a existing IP. Case in point, Wildlands gameplay wasn't groundbreaking, but it brought open world, deeper customization and heavier emphasis on stealth to the GR franchise. Like it or not, it was something new for GR.
I'm just talking about the industry as a whole, not dissing this remake. Don't get me wrong, playing MGS3 with MGSV's mechanics would be sick. It's just that ultimately it's a rehash of an old story, and in terms of gameplay it wasn't a big jump from the previous title and instead just bring the gameplay to modern/MGSV level.
Also since we already know how the story ends, and literally no one has a really good ending, I'm kinda not as keen on going through an adventure with the Big Boss again.
