My experience with parties as a kid and teen were surprisingly positive for my shy ass. Everyone loved and cheered me on when I would dance, bartenders would literally give me free desserts, girls would surround me, including my crush, and even if it was completely different group of party goers. That still didn't stop the fate of me being completely friendless and depressed at certain times. I mean, how come? Its like they looked at me and went "oh man he's so cool as a friend, I will never attempt to contact him ever cus he's that cool!" Maybe cus I wasn't into alcohol poisoning and betting on sports like every next guy, so I was practically "low-tier" in their eyes.

See I can absolutely relate to so desperately wanting to be the person that everyone cheers on for doing something cool or making a name for myself for doing something cool but then either never having the courage to try or never given the opportunity (as I suppose relates to Charlie’s case). My experience with parties as a kid and teen were surprisingly positive for my shy ass. Everyone loved and cheered me on when I would dance, bartenders would literally give me free desserts, girls would surround me, including my crush, and even if it was completely different group of party goers. That still didn't stop the fate of me being completely friendless and depressed at certain times. I mean, how come? Its like they looked at me and went "oh man he's so cool as a friend, I will never attempt to contact him ever cus he's that cool!"
Maybe cus I wasn't into alcohol poisoning and betting on sports like every next guy, so I was practically "low-tier" in their eyes.
That's one of those stories that you think about when you're trying to go to sleep. Hating yourself for doing something so stupid wishing you could go back in time. We all have 'em.
