I am very jealous of some of the places that you get to visit, almost green with envy 😂. Image 1 is my favourite, the comp just feels ‘right’ . Tell you drone pilot he did good :-)
Shots 1 and 2 were the best. My tuppenceworth: greens are fine as long as they aren't the primary focus of the shot or otherwise dominate. Small leaves tend to make shots look messy, so a large aperture helps to make subjects stand out more. And the sidelight of early morning or late evening gives more variation to the greens and stops them from being so uniform.
Thanks Dougie. I think the inclusion of another factor was really important… I agree and this was something I really discovered that weekend. I like side lighting hugely especially here on the South Downs. It just gets harsh so quickly at this time of year! I had to rely on heavier than I normally use dodging and burning to add depth. 😊
Hi Louise absolutely love your work especially being a big fan of waterfalls! We met on the 27th of May at Glen Rosa on Arran. My daughter and I are so happy with the photos you took of us so thanks again. I was hoping this video would be from that day but I'll keep an eye on your work. Take care, Nona & Corina
Wellll helllooooo. That one comes out in 2 weeks Nona. 😉. It was so lovely to meet you both at the fall and I am still chuckling at my rookie error with my finger over the lens 🙈. It was lovely to be able to photograph you both at such a lovely location too. And NO midges 💃🏿. Keep safe lovely lady 👍 it means a lot that you contacted too
I really enjoyed the photo at 1:22 as the ferns are pointing towards the waterfall and the white flowers breaking off the greens together with the white in the water / waterfall
Hello Louise , I think due to the water looking still in the middle of picture 1 , it makes it take. the eye off the rocks and waterfall. 2 is our favourite as it has everything you were asking for . Your channel definitely gives us inspiration as when we were in Cornwall in May , we used your videos as areas to shoot . If you go back there is an amazing waterfall at Tregargus Valley
@@mdlangton ohhh glad to know it helped. Thank you for the feedback. I’m going to ponder your thoughts there. 2 is my favourite… I love that place and it is the first time I have seen it so lush. Thank you for the location tip 👍 v much appreciated 😊
Hey TC. I’ve been asked to do that… is there one you like me to focus on? It’s a harder process than I normally do and I have gone back repeatedly after letting an image rest over night… 👍
The day before you made your first photograph, you had precisely no experience of photography. You took a camera into your hands, and over time, learned to make lots of photographs of pretty scenes. Until you take your camera out of your bag, point it at something and , you will never learn how to make good photographs in those conditions. I like blue sky days. I don't like blue sky days with the temperature around 45. I melt.
What a difference a day and a change of location can make. Great B-roll and shots Louise. Thank you for sharing another great video.. Great locations. Is there a way to subdue those yellows and bring out the greens in editing? I really struggle with the look of milky water. I haven't experimented enough, yet. Cheers.
Hi Louise. I love all these images. I'm a sucker for a waterfall. I'd love to see a video of your editing process for these images, if you feel so inclined, because my edits look nowhere close to the beauty you've managed to convey. Thanks for another great video.
Thanks very much for your reply. I've just watched the video again, and I honestly can't pick out one image over the others. If I was forced to choose a favourite I think it would be no.3, but I would find it useful to see your process with any of these. Thanks again!
Would be useful to have a second vid to cover the post processing. Was in some old growth forest last week and the variety of greens and light filtered by leaves is a challenge.
Louise, I love your photography and I appreciate the honesty and forthrightness of your videos. However, today you surprised me a little. In Australia, there is an old fashioned saying that a "Pom would complain about a sunny day." As a kid, I never really believed it and never experienced it... until this video. I am 62 and I never expected to actually hear a Pom complain, at length, about a sunny day! Louise, when the sun shines, it is God smiling at you... pick up on that vibe and get happy. If you feel like you have been handed a lemon, then make some bloody lemonade, mate! Grab that camera and start clicking something like it is the last time that you get to hold a camera. Enjoy the bloody sunshine, mate. 😊😊😊😊
Hi Peter, I love your comment and I shared it with 2 chaps I was capturing the Milky Way with on a hill at 1.30 am. They commented that the old fashioned saying is actually fairly accurate. It is a national pastime with the weather sparking up conversations at bus stops across England. Invariably it’s too hot, too cold, too wet or too dry. I was also being a bit tongue in cheek and talking the mickey out of myself. I love the sun, I love lemonade… I partake in both merrily. I was just there to do something and was being a bit Pom about it 😉. Thank you for making me smile 😁.
@@louisewelcomephotography Hi Louise, thank you for receiving my comments in the manner which they were written; just some fun banter. I am really happy that you enjoyed my comment. The funny thing was I was watching another YT video about a photographer living in Spain; Ralph Goldsmith. I really like this channel because he takes a lot of time to explain his thought processes behind a photo. Anyway, it was a beautiful, sunny and cloudless day and this gentleman is taking a photo of a road leading to a distant farm. Straight of the bat, he says, "Oh, this one is going to be B&W - too much blue sky.". But you chose to live in Spain, mate - this is what you signed up for! Then, I rolled straight into your video! Seriously, I do love your photos. Your videos are also more realistic than many others because you share the images that don't match your expectations. There are not many other photography YT channels that do this. Many thanks, Peter.
@@petermcginty3636 and the great thing was that I could almost hear your personality/voice through your words even though I have no idea how you sound. Honestly, you made my night 😁
Excellent point as it can be interpreted and depends where you measure from. It is not confirmed or noted as being the highest when you look online. Hence I carefully raised the validity of the claim in my text.
Okay okay okay young lady You need to get your butt back to that place at time index 6:37 in this video where you are in front of that very gorgeous gnarly tree with all that moss Why do I say you need to get back there with blue skies like you had You were looking at things in monochrome and you had such an opportunity that you missed all together If you wanted to do monochrome in that area with all of those trees all of that moss including the boulders with a moss You should have used an IR720 or an 850 with a CPL so you have a much more darker black foreboding skies and all of that foliage would have been so gorgeously white even though and there was no foliage on the trees I'm talking about the moss
I totally get the IR… you probably know I’m a sucker for it… I had left it 300+ miles away 🙈. I will go back but not for a few months. I did have the kit but not there. But… I didn’t think about the IR lens at that locarion at all until you said it. Good spot! Thank you 👍
Great to hear you say that when the scene is not right, just don't take the image. a lesson for all of us.
I did take a few but they were poor so camera away and we just enjoyed the experience of being there… with the odd midge. 🙈

Another fabulous vlog. You are very candid about your photography and I love the adventure you take us on. The waterfall queen! 😎✔️💪
I’ll take that 😂. Thank you Paul 👍
Thanks for sharing, Louise! I really like the first of the three images at the end of the video; once you've seen the "pawprint" you can't un-see it.
Thanks Bill. Strange how strong the can’t unsee it factor is at times. 😃

I did enjoy watching that. The tor above the woodland you shot is worth photographing as well and I'll be checking out Peter Tavy as suggested 🙂
