Well done you! Up early and out with your photo buddy Ben. Congrats to you both for "Ben Talks Geek." I'd never be able to pull off shooting with such large lenses without a tripod, or perhaps a monopod. Loved the shots you did get. Thanks for sharing. Cheers
Thank you Dana… I confess to being so impressed with his one take. The cut was me removing a two second pause as it seemed soooo long in comparison. I hope you are well 😊👍
Thanks for the company as always. This was a fun morning out, and a good learning experience. I think this is the first time that I have ‘needed’ a longer lens, as I rarely shoot wildlife but I was pretty impressive with the RF800mm. Especially once I figured out how to take the lens cap off! 😂 Louise if you ever need to borrow the 800mm, I know a guy 😂
😂😂😂 I’ll await an introduction! We defo need to go back with the infrareds though. I feel a challenge coming on. 👍 Thanks for your knowledge and company Harvey. 💥
I know and it can be framed by some of the distant trees too a great frosty morning would be very special. Ohhhh how exciting… now to wait for the sun or frost or wind to drop 🙈😂. Cheers lovely.
I have just discovered your channel and I am really enjoying working my through your previous videos. I love your approach to photography and you certainly capture some fantastic photos ... you have a new subscriber. 👍
Louise you are are a natural at doing you tube . I would be no good at deer photography, but I would love to go there on a really frosty morning. Keep up the good work 👍
Hi Louise! You have a new subscriber.. ME!! 😁 I wish I could be this witty in my videos! You're a natural! And that's quite apart from the photography itself.
Hey Ash, to be fair not one of the good shots were mine. Thank you for subbing… appreciated. I just have fun when filming and there are hours of absolute rubbish that o delete 😂. See you on here in the future. 👍
I recently acquired the RF 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1 and I'm using it without an extender on my EOS R. I've yet to take it out for a hike in unknown territory but I'm having great luck shooting backyard birds from a distance of around 30 feet. If the light is good, I get superb results when cropping in and after Lightroom's denoise AI.
That vlog was both informative and entertaining. I loved Ben's geeky talk and we might have to feature it as a segment on our podcast. You guys do a great collaboration together 👌😃
lol… I don’t think he’ll need a geek section 😂😂 Thank you Paul, I think we were particularly childish because is was clear it had all gone rather wrong. 🙈
@@louisewelcomephotography I know the feeling well. Whale watching off Maui, thought I had a great shot, turned out way soft. Didn't have continuous focus on, heaving boat,... you get the picture. Landscapes don't move as much :-) Good luck on your next outing!
My 100-400 puts me in the same territory as Ben. I could sell my house and buy a 150-400 F4.5 TC. I'm ahead without adding a couple of TCs. That lens is the reason Mike Lane ditched Sony. There's the cheaper 150-600.
@@louisewelcomephotography Mike uses an OM 1 for stills and recently added a Lumix G9 II. I use older versions of those cameras. The have 20 megapixels sensors and, with a bit of magic produce 80 megapixels images. The G9 II 25 and 100. It's on my want list. I also use a Lumix S1R, 47.3 and 187, for those times when you can't have too many pixels. For example, your lens isn't narrow enough, but also for creative cropping. The mark II is on my want list too, I expect it will be similar to the Leica SL3.
lol. Now Russ, I did my homework and would normally agree but they have certain colour blindness which I was assured they would not be concerned about. I have full camouflage stuff too. It was a concern but I was assured that my jacket wouldn’t be an issue... which I confess was a surprise to me too. To be fair, I didn’t get close enough to test the theory. For rutting I’m not chancing it… full camo it is. 😂 and, in the meantime, if anything ever happens to me the satellites will locate me. 👍😉
@louisewelcomephotography colour blind yes, but not contrast blind. You would stand out against the background beautifully. I could add don't use perfumed soap, rub your hands in deer or cow or sheep poo and keep completely silent, but just how important is this game? Lol. Russ, a Cumbrian sheep herder and deer chaser.
@@russgrant512 😂 I’ll take that Russ… and huge respect to you. I will take a different approach later in the season… I am definitely a landscaper with a lot to learn! 😳😉. I didn’t even think about contrast (doh) and anything stinky isn’t my bag, although I’m not adverse to a bit of dung!
Enjoyed your morning jaunt and as always you have a very good way of producing an excellent narrative for the video complete with the geek!! Tips
Thanks Malcolm, appreciated. I feel he rescued this one 😂.

Geek Geek more Geeeeek 🤣🤣🤣 .... on a plus note, on your way upto the higher elevation.... that copse of trees would be a great shot at Sunrise 😉📷👍🏻

Ohhhh so would I Rob. I found shots from a tog who did and they are stunning. And… cheers Rob. That means a lot.
Thank you, great content as always.
Thanks Chris. Not the most successful trip out! 🙈

Nice TC. Ben de noised his shots significantly too. Good to hear the lens is a strong performer 👍
When we do Landscape Lenscast Podcast series 2, I'm nominating you to do the jingles. "Ben Talks Geek" was a big improvement on what we have now.
Ohhhh funny Dougie… it’s funny, I don’t cringe when I sing but I probably should 😂. Cheers for checking in! 👍

Lesson 5. Make an effort to blend in? Perhaps don't wear the brightest colours so that satellites could see you
