I'm Egyptian, A COPTIC CHRISTIAN EGYPTIAN, I shout that out loud because we are the most pure blooded Egyptians out there and that's not only my opinion that's what Egyptologists, Historians and Scientists also agreed on , and I tell you that every word that Bassem Youssef said is right and I totally agree with him. Yes Egypt had lots of mixed cultures throughout its history like for example: Greeks, Romans and Arabs, but the Egyptian blood didn't mix and change that much and that's because for centuries we Egyptians had a golden tradition rule to marry our cousins, and that tradition is still present until now especially in Upper Egypt(from Assiut to Aswan), Although that tradition seems silly and bad from a scientific biological point of view, but that doesn't matter, silly or not we kept that tradition of marrying our cousins for centuries and that helped us to preserve our pure Egyptian blood not mixed as long as we could, and the result is what you see now and that is Modern Egyptians looks typical to their Ancient Egyptian Ancestors, just look at my skin color and Bassem Youssef's skin color we are almost the same although he is a Muslim who was born and lived in Cairo and I am a Coptic Christian who was born and lived in Luxor and there is almost a 1000 km distance between us, doesn't that tell you a thing or two about who Ancient Egyptians were and what they looked like? With all due respect for all the Black people and all the other ethnicities out there, but we Egyptians are special very special, WE ARE NOT Black or White or Yellow, Not Europeans or Africans or Asians, Not Assyrians or Persians or Israelites or Nubians or Greeks or Romans or Arabs or French or Italians or Germans or British or Turkish or Ukrainians, Not Middle Easterners or Caucasians or Mediterraneans or Levants or Amazigh or Berbers or even North Africans. WE ARE EGYPTIANS, WE ARE VERY UNIQUE!
Dude, Cleopatras family married their brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, not just cousins, and I believe at some point her grandpa/dad married one of his own daughters. The Ptolemy bloodline was pure, lol, and they didn't have a family "tree" per say. More like a straight line almost. But that's not to say that she is iconic. People all around the world talk about her to this very day, and she is spoken with high regard and much admiration. If it weren't for Octavious's tyranny she would have ruled Alexandria and the Roman Empire, and he KNEW it! I have my own speculations as well. I wonder if Octavious tried to shoot his shot at her and was denied? That could explain why he was so determined to take her down? Just my 2 cents.

The stories have almost nothing in common - not even the way the protagonists died. Juliet stabbed herself - Cleopatra poisoned by an asp; Romeo took poison - Antony fell on his sword. I think you may find that the play inspired by the deaths of Antony and Cleopatra was Antony and Cleopatra.
I have a second opinion. There is much evidence to support even the coins presented in the document do not reflect her true visage. Could it be the less precise tools for minting currency of ancient times? Cleo was in fact one of the first women of power to immolate her feminist qualities like that of a man or utilize prominent facial features to emulate her power-such as a distinct chin or nose. If you look at some of the illustrations from other great people in power such as Charlemagne or Nero or even Mary Queen of Scotts, Impressionism( incorrect time period, I know) and power were two blended assets to articulating authority through out the world.
Hatshepsut did downplayed her female attributes in order to hold on to the Pharoah title which was usually reserved for men. Cleopatra here tried to make herself look more masculine, hence more authoritative?
I did some research on my own and discovered that "Cleopatra" is not a Kemet [Roman name, Egypt] name. Her history actually begins after the end of the Pre-dynastic period...when all of the "Great Pharaohs" and "Queen Mothers" of "Kemet" were dead and buried. When Alexander the Great arrived in Kemet he helped to remove the Persians who had taken over Kemet at that time, but the "major players of Kemet" were by then dead and buried... Also, please note her name is NOT listed among the Queens or Pharaohs of "Kemet" during it's 3000 year reign... She comes in during the "Ptolemaic Period" which is when the Reign of "Kemet" was coming to an end...
@@btricetv5883 except when the Greeks conquered Kemet and renamed her Aigyptos, it's people were still there, the Greek soldiers and Generals married into Kemets royal family to maintain Dynastic rulership which was passed on through the lineage of the Queen, Cleopatra comes from a Greek and African heritage, it has been proven that her mother was African and all the descendents of the Ptolemies were the product of mixed marriages.

Cleopatra was not even Greek, she has Macedonian origins! Ptolemaic dynasty is Macedonian dynasty, and Macedonians were called barbarians that speak different language when Macedonian king Phillip II conquered Hellenic City States.
Got here from a link to the article revealing that Cleopatra's sole surviving example of her handwriting was of a single Greek word. Transliterated from the original Greek letters it was "ginesthoi". It was a command that meant "make it happen". Sounds like something Cpt. Picard would say!
I think Cleopatra was such an interesting Queen and one of the most popular aside from Nefertiti. It’s so sad that her children were killed. I always thought she killed herself by ingesting poison. I don’t think she would’ve had a serpent bite her as it would be a very painful death. So she instead ingested poison so it will be a quick and peaceful death.

WE ARE
EGYPTIANS,
WE ARE
VERY UNIQUE!
This was about Cleopatra not about Egyptians , but you are right that Copts are real Egyptians.
Guess you forgot, so I will remind you, you are AFRICAN! Egypt is where at! Notice, that is not a question!

I think the story of Romeo and Juliet was inspired by Anthony and Cleopatra, especially how they died.
I believe Romeo and Juliet was inspired by D.Pedro and Inês de Castro .

Hi
Thanks for this video ☺️
I am INDIA I love Egyptian history 🥰
So History has lied to us?
@EugeneLandreth
Yes, History AND Hollywood has lied which is more often than not…
You're exactly right, except that Cleopatra is only the Latinized form of her Greek name.
@@michaelmadison1561 Cleopatra belonged to the Macedonian Greek dynasty of the Ptolemies, their European origins tracing back to northern Greece. Through her father, Ptolemy XII Auletes, she was a descendant of two prominent companions of Alexander the Great of Macedon: the general Ptolemy I Soter, founder of the Ptolemaic Kingdom of Egypt, and Seleucus I Nicator, the Macedonian Greek founder of the Seleucid Empire. She was white European

When uneducated people say that Cleopatra (Κλεοπάτρα) was black they instantly become ignorant and disrespectful to Greek heritage. She had no connection what so ever to ancient Egyptians. She was a Macedonian ruler from a line of heavy interbreeding. Greek people are white (tan in the sun) and so was she. And no, she looked nothing like Elizabeth Taylor in that movie. Go to Greece and see how she probably looked like. Stop disrespecting our culture with all your nonesense!
Fyi.....very few ppl look the same as in ancient times. Some were not even on earth yet.
@@MCfact1827 After DNA studies on ancient bones it was found that modern Greeks are for the most part genetically the same as the ancient ones. And they existed thousands of years before the Hellenistic period, where Cleopatra was alive. So we pretty much do look the same.
Archeologist Mafred Bietak and Greece
That still leads back to her dna being part African….goofing back down generations where do you think Macedonians and Persians get there look from…even if they are lighter. Cleopatra was fair toned but she did have a slightly darker complexion. Not saying she was “black” ( bc black isn’t really a thing) but she wasn’t caucasian
@@kaifowlkes382 With that logic everyone on Earth is a descendant of Africans 😂 The point is that Cleopatra had Greek DNA because archeologists and historians tell us that her family was constantly inbreeding. Greek people are not even pale white like Scandinavians lol. We are tan for most of the year. She probably looked something like the people who live in the Macedonia area of Greece today. And if I remember correctly, the Macedonians during the Hellenistic era were blond and blue eyed, so she most likely had those characteristics. Because she ruled Egypt, it doesn’t mean she looked like them. Queen Victoria was the empress of India but she was British. It’s the same thing.

Where are all this Cleoptra is black argument coming from?? Egyptologists around the world agreed that she's Greek. Thats a proven fact .
Yall have any decent argument that suggest otherwise?. I'm open for a debate
don't worry, they don't. Only people that know nothing about Cleopatra other than the fact that she lived and ruled over Egypt (Egypt=Africa) say that she was black. Everyone who has done at least a 5 minute research on her and her family knows that she was Greek.
Cleopatra was not even Greek, she has Macedonian origins! Ptolemaic dynasty is Macedonian dynasty, and Macedonians were called barbarians that speak different language when Macedonian king Phillip II conquered Hellenic City States.

Very good and well presented!
Actually, not all of her kids were killed. One disappeared and was presumed dead (probably did die) and the other went on to marry a king and have her own kids (this was Cleopatra Selene II)
LOL....have u ever ingested poison?
