I keep seeing a common theme where Odin sees a problem in the future, and so tries to do what he can to prevent it before hand. The thing here, though, is that his actions “in the now,” end up having this butterfly effect to cause what he was originally trying to avoid! Fenrir is one of my examples (unless I’m reading into it incorrectly - totally possible). The Asgardians try to try the wolf, and he realizes something is afoot when he succeeds in the chains challenge. Guy probably (rightfully) feels slighted, and the whole butterfly effect occurs. I've seen a lot of versions where Hel and Jormungandr's prophecies of Odin are also self fulfilling prophecies, as Oding casting Jormungandr into the ocean was why he grew so big, and by sending Hel to the land of the dead, he made it possible for her to rule them

Also many things sound like scientific metaphors, like the big bang, and using animals and mystical creatures/races as symbols for scientific reality, or could be substituted in context at least. But the depth of their stories and back stories brings flawed and realistic personalities and actions of the gods, making them relatable to different aspects of humanity.

Capitalism is inherently exploitative, because workers are never fully compensated for their work. If a business pays you 14 dollars per hour, that is because you produce more than that in value for the company. The rest of the value goes to the owners of the business as profits simply because they own the means of production. This fundamental problem is why inequality is on the rise in the wast majority of the world, even in countries like Norway and Denmark that good labor laws have high taxes on the rich. To combat this problem we need to fundamentally change how the economy works. One solution that would would keep all the benefits of the current marked system is to democratize the workplace. By doing away with the owner class and making every worker a shareholder of the company they work at they would get all value that they produce. Since the companies would now be controlled by the workers, the interests of the company would have to be aligned with the interests of the working class and this would also solve a lot of the problems tied to pollution and and corruption. Why would a oil company controlled by the workers bribe a politician with complain donations to allow fracking which poisons the ground water that those very workers rely on? They wouldn’t. The only reason oil companies do that today is because they are controlled by rich elites that live separated from the communities their actions affect. Democratizing the workplace would solve these problems too.
The reason behind it, is Odin has known jormungandrs ability to keep safe of midgard, however he is monsterously dangerous, as Odin had been the death of the ice giants, raising Thor to hate Jormungand, and thus being each others demise durig ragnorok, they dispised each other for their history of giants vs gods

Literally just spent an hour learning about norse mythology and I don’t regret it at all lol great content!
Just be nice to everyone and they’ll be nice to you!
Yes, it reminds me king oedipus. Also these people believed in fate. Maybe these myths reflect their ideas about fate like how even a god can't change his fate.
Odin set is fate from the moment e drink from the mimir whell.
And that is the moral of all north mitology.
...until they learn about you doing something bad in the future that is.
This is called a self fulfilling prophecy, a very common trope in modern literature - no doubt, this story was one of the first of its kind.
I've seen a lot of versions where Hel and Jormungandr's prophecies of Odin are also self fulfilling prophecies, as Oding casting Jormungandr into the ocean was why he grew so big, and by sending Hel to the land of the dead, he made it possible for her to rule them
Poor Fenrir, they did him so dirty🙁🙁
I know right the poor baby. He's in the last thor movie the giant wolf that was resurrected by hella. he's my favorite of all of loki's children.

Omg I LOVE the story about Loki and his foal😂 I am annoying everyone with it but it's just soooo hilarious I couldn't stop smiling all day. I love Loki so much
I am impressed by the quality of the compilation (great work!) and Norse mythology in general, much of it could and should have been preserved in Europe.
I can listen to these stories for days.
At this point I'm an atheist but the norse culture is really beautiful and not to mention one of the greatest fighters in human history were vikings, no king wanted to meet vikings in battle, they were not scared of death because dying in battle was the best thing a viking could do to enter Valhalla
Norse mythology rules.
It is one of the best myths there is, despite the misconceptions that people keep believing.
It's one of the few mythologies where Gods die.

There is a movie kind of like of what you are describing. It's called Ragnarok and it is on Netflix. There is a season 3 coming out!
God of war,but it's not 100% accurate,still a fun game though
Thor is a superhero though. It's kinda hard not to portray him that way.

Til Valhalla! Oh my Odin I love my culture! Thank you for this🙏
But are you going to Valhalla
@@putent9623 99.9% are not going to Valhalla. Odin will send the valkyries to judge each warriors performance and death in battle. They pick only the strongest, most honorable and escort them to Valhalla. So unless you're part of your country's special elite military force and plan on dying in battle.. It's Hel for you and me, buddy.
@@Waff3n very true but if you do die in battle you still get to go to folkvangr, so say like your first day in the army and you get shot and killed you won't go to valhalla but you did die in combat so you would go to folkvangr, but still you need to be in the military so I see you all in hel
But dont you have to die in battle to go to valhalla? Like what battles are you fighting in? I dont think battling diabetes for 30 yrs or some disease will do it.

A very simplified version of Norse mythology, some inaccuracies from the orignal tales, but useful enough to get an overview.
55:54, please mention that Thor only survived for 9 steps, before his death
9 steps probably means the nine realms of Yggdrasil.
So what does that mean that the 9 steps = the 9 worlds?
The nine realms are the nine frequencies of white light. IR, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet, UV

Democratizing the workplace would solve these problems too.
poor snake was just having fun circling the world... Thor just had to bother him again and again !
