  • Replacing rubber peace to fix the popping noise that causes the steering g wheel to pop when making turns and at high speeds, the steering wheel will vibrate/rattle. This video will fix the popping and vibrating/rattling we driving, which is annoying. Cheap part but challenging to put the steering wheel back on. Suggest you have someone to assist if possible.

You did a stellar job with the video aspects of the repair bro.... not easy for you, but very clean and clear footage. Kudos.....

Hey dude! I just wanted to drop a big thank you for showing this, I had this problem and fixed it in 2½ hours. It ended up being much easier than I expected.
Without your video, and not knowing what to expect, it would have been an absolute nightmare, so thanks!!

Man I’m happy the video helped. It took a lot to get it done but it feels good when you solved the issue especially when you do it yourself! Congrats on the hard work

The other guys said he has issues with his steering afterwards so make sure your keys aren’t in the ignition when you top out the steering wheel, but you will need to to remove the two screws behind the steering wheel

When I push brake on a freeway it makes a sound like a gun on steering wheel. Is it the same as the one you just remove and replace? I have 2013 kia optima, too.

If it is what I just did all you would have to do is leave your car in park and just turn your steering wheel. If you hear a sound that’s like metal hitting metal than it’s that but if you hear it while driving it could be a few things like your alignment, your tie rod, struts sway bar or control arm it will depend on

The best way to find out would be to jack your car up and wiggle the tire from 9 and 3 like close and see if it wiggles, that would be related to your tie rods. I’m about to do a video of me fixing my tie rods soon. I will be posting it soon, so you can subscribe to the channel and I it will show you the steps I took

My Kia Soul was doing that. So I figured that it was that coupler because it seems 98% of the videos on TH-cam that show that problem is because of that coupler. I took the whole thing apart like you did in this video and the coupler was like new. I was shocked. Now I have to try to find out why it’s doing that same rattle that is not caused by that coupler.

      Wow, really?

    • @golfminddetailing3741

So sometimes if is is rattling at high speeds it could be your alignment. Normally at high speeds this will happen. Is that what happens at high speeds?

      @@golfminddetailing3741
Yeah it happens at high speeds, but I got an alignment, new tires (so they’re balanced, obviously), new sway bars, new shocks (in the back), new brakes, new rotors, and replaced the coupler. Even though my old coupler somehow looked new. My coupler looked so good that I could’ve returned it at the auto parts store and they would’ve believed me that it was the new one that they sold me the day before. Surprising for a coupler that was in a car that’s almost 20 years old. I know that it wasn’t replaced before because I’ve owned the car since it was new.

So I’ve did some research, I’m not an expert but what I’ve found is it could be the Ball Joints, 28% of the time, struts or strut mount, 14% of the time, sway bar which you have already done so you could cross that off your list.

Before I say anything, have you gone back to double check all the line and made sure they are connected properly? Sometimes the best thing to do it check the wires especially if you did have this issue before.
