Its very obvious, the US going to use the Philippines in their conflict with China.
Just look at how fast just after Marcos Jr got elected, the US comes in, 9 US bases set up, and now a large military exercise for war.
And economic co-operation with the United States?
The US and the Philippines haven't started talking on that yet.
      War comes first.

The Bashi strait ,can now be better monitored and defended . The Japanese are fortifying the Ryukyu islands with Anti air and anti ship missiles ,and now the Philippines ,together with USA ,will fortify its Northern Babuyan and Batanes islands . This is good news for Taiwan ,because in the event of war ,China won't be able to perform a pincer maneuver or encircle the main island .Thus Taiwan's North /South flanks are now well protected . China now has no choice but to declare war on both Japan and the Philippines ,if it wants to wage war on Taiwan ,and by extension the United States itself ,due to decades long mutual defense treaties.

The people from the Philippines should remember that its history is full of examples of exploitation and colonization by foreign powers such as Spain and then followed by the US. Why is it that the Philippines can not chart its own destiny where it addresses the domestic issues that keeps it from becoming a more prosperous nation like Malaysia or even Vietnam ? Asia should not shun foreign countries of course but welcome them if they are sincere in participating in a constructive manner in the vibrant and the dynamic economic regions of Asia. Allowing foreign countries to establish military bases which basically promotes the creation of blocks of hostilities among Asian nations is certainly not one of them.

The Philippine-American War, known alternatively as the Philippine Insurrection, Filipino-American War,or Tagalog Insurgency, was fought between the First Philippine Republic and the United States from February 4, 1899, until July 2, 1902. Tensions arose after the United States annexed the Philippines under the Treaty of Paris at the conclusion of the Spanish-American War rather than acknowledging the Philippines' declaration of independence,
Filipino civilians: 200,000-1,000,000 died, most because of famine and disease; including 150,000-200,000 dead from cholera. Filipino Soilders died : not accounted.
