- More than 17 years ago, the U.S. Navy christened the first of a new class of warship designed to operate in near-shore environments. The so-called Littoral Combat Ships or LCS would be fast and agile, capable of countering 21st-century coastal threats such as missile-firing boats, small submarines, and mines.

US Navy's $8.5 Billion Aircraft Carrier
th-cam.com/video/3saiZbOAp08/w-d-xo.html
Ah yes, the good old affordable Nimitz-class carriers. The new Ford-class carriers cost $13 billion per ship.
It's actually called the Literal POS
waste of OUR tax dollars
we know its just going to be used to fight someone elses war
WTF are you talking about 😂
how does it do against swarm drone boat attacks?
If this wasn't obsolete, it wouldn't be on TH-cam lol
Yeah he is posting about ships we are selling and retired
Even the cost of this ship can't make any dent in the $33 Trillion + and growing national debt, most of which finances Social Security and Medicaid. Not even a blip on the screen.
@@jereuter01 How many homeless people did this ship feed
@@jereuter01 And foreign aid, which needs to END. And that's not the point. Our whole military is bloated and needs to be cut by a lot. All our soldiers need to come home, except for joint training a couple of times a year. We have the ability to send a sizable force anywhere in the world in 3/4 days.
I saw the Trimaran design out in the waters of San Diego once while on a deep sea fishing day trip. Thing is HUGE and kind of intimidating when you see it in person.
Wow it’s like a literal combat ship literally
littolwolly
Actually it's the Littoral and it's on the sea/ C!
I was on LCS1 for a while and I'm a plank owner of LCS2 great time with great people.
I really, really wanted to get to christen a ship when I was a kid. Now it just reminds me of stepping on broken glass at the lake.
LCS ships can still be repurposed. Independence class LCS can be drone carriers due to their huge flight deck while Freedom class can be fitted with Adaptable Deck Launchers ADL giving it more punch.
Well this class of the Indy. CV62 is the Indy Forrestal class Uss Ranger Uss Independence Uss America an Uss Forestal
yay? Does not change the fact most Americans believe in more then two genders lmao
Nah cos then they cant sell the old ones under the table to our enemies, enemies.. cmon bro, you got a brain, use it
We are selling them
Supervisor: we finished the boat. Should we thank all the workers for their dedication and hard work on seeing this job complete?
Boss: No, just smash this bottle of cheap champange i had for lunch earlier over the bow and get a move on to the killing.
It really depends on if they are expecting war to come to our shores or not. If they are then lcs ships would be very handy. The independence variant has already been scrapped due to the hull cracking under every day use due to the aluminum hull.
I am grateful for the sacrifices made by the men and women in the US Navy.
I got to watch one of these go into the water for the first time right after being built. They are awesome looking and massive.
that one ship could pay for so much education
America first
That price doesn't seem too bad considering the 777ER planes start at ~$350 million.
I watched Austal build those over the last few years in the Mobile Bay. Really incredible stuff
That beast moves!
This is warship is littorally a beast
Sounds like a perfect ship!
Even Putin liked and subscribed
"Never designed to engage in Combat in the Littorals ..."🏴☠
That’s a Star Destroyer. We are the baddies.
We? What do you do
Navy just needs to make a giant fleet of unsinkable ships with 30 inch thick k700 Manganese and a 100 diesel engines per propeller, problem solved.
This is how the navy builds yachts
In a nutshell
It’s a literal combat ship.
I imagine water mines are like quicksand; less of a problem than you’d think.
Why does the military get 14% of the budget while NASA gets 0.2%?
NASA is not going to win a war and on top of that NASA is international which means it’s shared with the world it’s not owned by the us
That darn thing is almost flying 😅
500$ million for 1, and they probably “need” 100.
I was offered a job on this project a while back. I didn't take it tho, because I'd have been so deep in *literal* combat with my ex, who also worked at the same location; I'd have no time in my life to think about littoral combat. That and Florida wages are awful.
We're prepping for something big i can feel it.
Yeah sheep been saying that since before the Cold War. This bullshi is nothing more than a money laundering scheme for oligarchs to extract wealth out of America.
nice ship
Just in case you were wondering why we can't afford universal healthcare or higher education in this country.
True that. Also people get bent out of shape when loan forgiveness comes up, but I’d wager that one of these vessels costs 10x the amount that it would cost to forgive all student debt.
Imagine speaking German rn instead..
@@jodo7814Germans don’t seem to mind, and they have free healthcare, tuition, and US taxpayer funded protection via NATO and bases.
We could even with these billion dollar expenses. If they cared to distribute funds not used per year by the military this would be the utopia our forefathers dreamt of.. but I also value safety 😂 idk where that line is
Hahahhahaha we litteraly gave ukraine nearly the equivalent to one year the military budget. At least our military protects us, according to communists/socialists (liberals/democrats same thing) we could have ended world hunger more than 100 times over. Don't pretend like you care about people in need.
As an american, I would rather have cheaper everything then a boat
Unfortunately, neither party gives a crap.
Love the music at the end of these videos. Quite out of place I must say but good nonetheless.
I know from firing a round in to the water that as soon as it hits the water the round developed a bubble of air at the tip under water. To decrease drag of the water could it be possible to push air out the front of the sub to achieve higher speed under water?
Yes. This has been studied by the Navy.
Like shooting a bubble of air 1,000' through the water?
Its called cavitaion and already happens
I had no idea i was spending this much money on military equiptment 😱😱
Like one for my personal yatch
Damn there wasnt any card games this episose..but at least we know the lore now
I love when raytheon appears in a video. Love me some raytheon weapons
thats the weirdest thing i've seen anyone say they love :,D why would you love weapons in the first place and why specifically raytheon? :D is it because they are the best at being evil warmongers and making huge profits from wars?
@@deffari It's just knee-buckingly stupid, isn't it, that some people are simply agog of
what Eisenhower warned us about: The rise of the military-industrial complex.
And Kennedy taking that tip and tried to cut back on war is one of the two prongs of why he was killed: The refutation of the MIC and Kennedy DEMANDING that Israel open up their nuclear weapons site at Dimona for inspections or face losing their American taxpayer largess of almost $4 BILLION a year. Israel Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion resigned in the face of Kennedy's demands. There's one thing you don't do: mess with Israel's defense OR their U.S. foreign aid (the highest per capita in aid from the U.S., and while Israel is flush with gov't reserves of over $200 billion... and with many wealthy jewish billionaires citizens ) or else the Mossad/jewish mafia will aid the CIA/MIC to remove the "pebble from their shoe."
The Raytheon sub hunter was a bust. Did not work at all! This is an old old video. Scrapped Les ships in a deal to be sold to Taiwan.
LCS will not become obsolete in my lifetime. They are easily upgradable and serve multiple purposes. Just my opinion, if it means anything!
Sure why not... They could stick the AGS system from the failed destroyer line they had researched. that gun system could then have mass produced ammo for 40 plus ships all bearing drones missiles and cannon firing at 10 rounds a minute roughly. Maybe even stick some guns on it
I’ve been in that shipyard
WE GETTING KILLED BY ERRADICATOR MK IV🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 0:37
Looks like its ONLY forward gun is a pea shooter.
The combining gear issue I believe was solved and I honestly think we would benefit from employing more surface warfare freedom class ships for coastal defense (in addition to the current anti piracy and drug smuggling) as the coast guard is in a poor state
Galvanic corrosion was apparently a misunderstood concept lol.
Also, were these the same ships that were supposed to have a gun that ammo didn't exist for? Might have been something else.
You're thinking of Zumwalt. The ammo was almost a million dollars a piece so never had a chance of going into service.
57mm ammo manufactured in USA so all good
Navy can’t decide what job it should fulfill
marines filling the gap.
Ideal for the Red sea send some already
The Corvette is Good For Counter Piracy units
The drone ship of the future.
I'm not tryna be a know it all but if there's all this information about it then for America it ain't that crazy. Imagine the things we don't know about. To quote the ex-chairman of Lockheed Martin before he retired.. "We have stuff that could give E.T. a ride home." So these companies and places with top secret clearance have the things that'll blow your mind
Us naval power world number one
This is more about its weapon varieties
smashing the bottle while holding it is a little silly.
The LCS is se 2 différent shops .pleaqe adddresd the 2 as seperate
500M to build and a 1 billion a day to supply and fuel when deployed. When did LM get into ship building?
THE early boats are nothing but junk, they tried to give then to the Coast guard and they said Hell no.
Where's your sources? Or even one source? It's 500 to 600M price includes operations.
Fun times...
@@ltsgoyanks it’s a facetious comment part of the reason the DoD can’t locate 2t in assets, has not ever passed a financial audit and has to put its enlisted on food stamps. Megawaste.
It's a littoral ship... you know, for littoral areas
Lake of Da Woods Branch. New Technology 😊 Toot your Horn 😊
Go NAVY.
Can the aluminum hull handle impacts and survive? Why recreate the wheel just build what works and quit over paying
Hoepfully, a drone cant take that out.
Bakit kaya walang gustong banggain ng ibang bansa ang America
God bless America
Your god loves war
The annual interest paid to service the National Dept is bigger than the Defence budget. If the US didn't have such a huge deficit, the Defence budget could have been doubled
Thats the last thing we need....more defense spending ? Lol
These are just what we need for the current situation in the Red Sea.
Oh yeah, they don't work.
Nevermind.
The US needs a ship to combat cheap weapons in the Red Sea. Are these sent there?
I still don't quite understand the primary reason for these ships
How will it stand up to a swarm of cheap underwater drones?
They will be compared too a rifleman, you'll need lot's for the asalt!!! Roa Aotearoa nui.
$500 million mistake, when I was in the Navy and these came out there was nothing but complains about them from my fellow mechanics. They're ineffective, break often, and are essentially a huge shore patrol boat. Should have tried harder to find the littoris
Just invest in diesel submarines. Copy the latest German one, I think type 212A
love you usa
Every one has a plan till they get hit is the saying so can it take a hit and keep fighting complete the mission well find out .
United States Navy is the best Navy in the world
This scares me in the hands of the people running our government
that ship has already been scrapped
I was just looking at two they are still building in Mobile, AL last week.
Why do we still have a navy?
Jeff Bezos should've bought this instead of his $500M super yacht. This looks way cooler.
this looks like a tesla build
Isn't the Independence class just another overly complicated and overpriced headache for the US just like the F-35B?
I think Dolphins are still the best for minesweeping
A bleak assessment for a cool-looking ship.
Strategy is flawed. New thinking is needed. Todays war has shown that overwhemling swarm drones at extreme volumes can overcome all current countermeasures. 100 mil can build 10000.
Drone ship
Gift them to Taiwan or the Philippines
I hope it's made with better metal than the tanks you sent to Ukraine.
Ohhh, so it's a girl ship!😮
With what we have given Ukraine, we could have 200 of these ships to protect us.
USA is the best country in the all world 🌎 ❤🫶🏻🚔🚀🌃♠️
Leftism is ruining it
Give me a ship that has twin multi missile launch hubs, three Tri- 10inch multi /single fired guns and Four Phalanx hubs ......the new Battle Ship....USS TRUMP!
Waste of money
not geting surprised if rus shovels will cause serius dmg on this ship = )
That's what the empire of Evel are good at , free palestine 🇵🇸
TRUMP 2024 MAGA! God bless America 🇺🇸
I'm lysdexic and I read this as a C in front of literral........ I'm wondering watafuk this gotta do with the Navy .........
Why don't you just donate this ships it totally free to the Philippines? And we will refit them with non-money pit stuff, remove the money pit stuff and put some water cannon. large water cannon.
