How is China insisting that Taiwan is A part of China, any different than america insisting that Cuba be under its control? The same can be said about Crimea, and to some degree Donbass. Considering that america stopped china from reuniting with Taiwan in 1948, doesn't that make america disingenuous about believing in one nation two systems? Even peaceful reunification doesn't make sense, since america acknowledges that Taiwan is A part of China, and america stopped China from reuniting with Taiwan before Taiwan was A concept of A sovereign nation. All the Philippines wanted was respect of its sovereign terrority yet China being a bully seeing PH as inferior ignored its demands. PS - Philippines as a country doesn’t have an abundance of natural resources so USA never “extracted” much wealth from the country. However, it does have great people that at times have been let down by its political system. Too bad the country has never had the reforms implemented to unleash all that potential.

It's not too late because the alliance country like the Philippines is also building up its military capability by acquiring navy warship , fighter jet and missile defense arsenal. This military modernization of the Philippines is a great help to US in strengthening military capability. The alliance country make more capable against China. Beside the Philippines has more soldier and reserve soldier that can deter China 's aggressive action.

This video didn't mention the Japanese forces and island chain to the north of Taiwan. Japan is all in to fight china, and they have a credible Navy that can punch above their weight. The Filipinos too. They are tough people with a fighting spirit.
in case of war i think among the Allied countries... South Korea is in the most dangerous position being connected to N. Korea and China through land. Taiwan, Japan, and the Philippines are oceans away from China so it would be really be difficult for them to even reach them.

South Korean military power and difficult terrain do compensate for that in the short to medium term. Nobody who researched their forces would want to aggress them amongst area militaries without 5:1+ (lets get real 8:1 minimum for Chinese or NK forces) advantage in numbers that could actually be applied in the mountains and seas. When they say “y’all ready for this” in the club, Seoul always yells Yeah! But, you are right, they have to be.
Add in the fact that the US has a major blue water ocean navy adventage, which would make a total naval blockade of China possible. How long can China fight a war without international shipments of oil?
china may have a huge army in number but it can't be denied that allied nations like the Philippines has an army that is well experienced and battle hardened that china in one instance in its history was humiliated by Philippine forces during the battle of Yultong in S. Korea. they know how difficult it is to fight Filipinos in the battlefield.
In terms of simple numbers of warships, China is already leading the U.S., roughly 350 to 300, in combat vessels. And the Chinese shipyards are pumping out new warships on a near-weekly basis, especially relatively low-technology patrol missile boats, corvettes and frigates. Still, U.S. ships are ton-for-ton larger, endowed with better offensive and defensive systems, and manned by far more experienced crews.
300 low tech ships against an easy 3,000 missiles/torpedos all volleyed at same time can take them to 50 ships pretty quick. And what makes that possible is …Logistics.
US allies in the area are very concerned about China's expansion in the area, Japan, the Philippians, South Korea, Vietnam, India, stop acting like its only the US , its the majority of China's neighbors that are concerned about China's aggressive expansion.
It's near an even match between China and the U.S. in the Pacific now . China has some advantages because of the numbers of ships and proximity to Taiwan . But the U.S. has bases in Japan , South Korea, and potentially the Phillipines that could greatly tip the balance of power greatly back toward U.S. in the next year. China vs. U.S. power in the Pacific theater is comparable, but China vs the U.S., Japan, South Korea, Aukus allies , and others combined , different outcome entirely . The combination of these American and allied forces could defeat the Chinese PRC/PLA and Navy, likely destroying over a third of China's shoddily built fleet, and setting China's CCP back 50 years . China would be SUICIDAL to attempt to fully attack Taiwan .
Do you forgot that Taiwan belongs to China according to UN voting and decision. China can use nuke in this situation, it is similar to Crimea to Ukraine. Not many ASEAN countries will help the US in the situation. China will take Taiwan, they have all the rights to do so. I think the UN the decision already made it clear, Taiwan was still a form of government after 1949 was not because they have people's support, they were there because the US military intervention of Chinese civil war. The US will never win in UN about anything with Taiwan. This is already a conclusion. If the US keep going this way, then the US is similar to Russia. Even the US itself recognize one China policy. Almost all EU countries voted one China policy. Playing a stupid double standard game in this situation can only bring the world to danger. it was a mistake to not force the pacific allies to not form a NATO like structure from the 1950s-2000s. now we are all faced with the insane situation of trying to change tires and drive at the same time while China runs laps on the allies.

LAL-LO Airport in Cagayan. I see what can happen there. In a hot situation in Taiwan, USAF aircrew can be flown in to LAL-LO and have it ready for F-22s a day later. The advantages are twofold. First, it shortens the flight time from Kadena AFB in Okinawa and secondly, no KC-135 tankers would be required coming and going. Just need to pre-position munitions in the airport under heavy guard (AIM-9X sidewinders and AMRAAMs).

It’s weird, because I don’t see Chinese or Russian news agencies talking about their strategy to counter the US in the Pacific and Atlantic. For whatever reason, the US cannot accept multilateralism and sees any rising power as an immediate threat to American exceptionalism.
South Africa is 9000miles from the US + it is a western influenced country.. same with India.. it is a strategic partner of the *Western Alliance* and india opted for that. any chinese aggression against taiwan or in the region generally will be countered by a coalition including taiwan, philippines, australia, south korea, japan and the united states, with india likely aligning with them as well.
South Korea may be neutral officially, thought they will likely provide covert support. India, Australia, and the Philippines will probably provide basing and political support.

We can't totally rely on both India and South Korea esp when both have "friendly" neighbors of their own (China's definitely gonna take advantage of Pakistan and North Korea). Not only that, India will definitely be very vulnerable against possible "non-conventional" foes that might align themselves to their Muslim brothers in Pakistan. Let's just pray that this do not devolve in a real conflict, at least during our lifetime. It's going to be a freaking world war.
US recognise Taiwan as Chinese territory, it is why US doesn't have relation with Taiwan. also I wouldn't count on India, South Korea and Japan. they have no interest in war because that would destory their economy, they saw what war did to EU, and they already recognise Taiwan as Chinese territory. US and Ukraine doesn't have a mutual defense treaty. Ukraine isn't even part of NATO and doesn't even have US military base. Vladimir Putin saw that Zelensky wants to join NATO, immediately grab the opportunity to invade Ukraine so they can't be part of it. but in the Pacific region, US have a decades old alliance treaty with the Philippines, had an old alliance with Taiwan, Japan, South Korea and Australia. Philippines is a founding father of ASEAN which compose of Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, Vietnam, Thailand etc. India is an enemy of China. Do you really think Russia and North Korea will assist China on claiming Taiwan? and would you really think that Taiwan will just sit back and let them take their most advance semi-conductors? The American military is the kindest in the world. They helped Vietnam improve the quality of its land and dropped huge amounts of U.S. dollars (bombs) on every inch of land. They also helped revolutionize architectural styles in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria. It also helped Ukraine, allowing Ukrainians to leave their hometown faster and move to Europe to become second-class citizens. Help the Palestinian people learn how to live at sea. I believe the majority Chinese people do not truly want to fight a war with anyone, especially over islands. I love Chinese culture and architecture and it would be a waste for both sides to have a war. The Chinese government however needs to change significantly.
I was wondering if somebody could answer a question for me. I have been asking this question online for a while and have not had an adequate answer yet. But with a war going on right now in Ukraine, why do Americans continue to pull out of Europe? While at the same time, there is enthusiasm, both by the US government and its citizenry to build up in Asia. I don’t quite understand that dichotomy. I mean, there is an actual shooting war going on in Europe at the moment. I have even read online that some Americans, if the US were to enter into some conflict with Russia, that they won’t support the war and said that they wouldn’t enlist. Yes, the world and the world’s media, is focused on Russia and Ukraine. But in the segment of American society that is willing to go to war, that segment is more interested in conflict with China. Again, I don’t quite understand that given that there is an actual war going on in Europe. Shouldn’t there be as much enthusiasm to fight the Russians as there is to fight the Chinese? Wouldn’t the Ukrainians welcome American boots on the ground? I don’t understand it, I’m sure Zelenskyy would be ecstatic to have an American military base in Ukraine. I’m not trolling, I genuinely want to know. Again I have not heard a good answer.

That would also mean America is more interested in a superpower rivalry than it is about self determination for other countries. Truthfully US government and citizens don't want any war. We're all pretty tired of them and war with a nuclear armed nation is extremely dangerous. The US government sees Russia as a declining power that's dangerous, but overall manageable and mostly requiring the armies ground forces attention whereas in pacific the navy and marines will be more important. The focus on the Pacific is largely that China is much closer in strength to the US and a feeling that we don't have a strong system to dissuade expansionism like in europe where most of Europe is in Nato and attacking it would mean war with 31 nations. In Asia, there is just a handful of mutual defense treaties between the US and friendly nations. And China has built up bases and medium length missiles that give them a pretty strong advantage in the region. So without action China could decide to take actions knowing the US doesn't have the strength in the region to stop it.
Ukraine is fighting Russia with material support from the Nato alliance. Ukraine is not part of Nato. The US and European nations are not directly fighting Russia. They dont want to get directly involved as this could escalate the conflict. Support has been calibrated since feb 2022 so as not to escalate but to resist Russias fighting power. For a number of years the US has been concerned that other Nato allies were not spending enough on collective defense, effectively being subsidised by the US. Since the invasion there is alot more enthusiasm for the alliance including the Sweden and Finland joining, increased spending from Germany etc. Russia is simply not an adversary to the west in the same league as China. Putins invasion is considered a blunder and his fight is failing. It doesnt make sense to squander military resources on resisting Russia which will be needed to contain Chinese expansionism. I can tell you catagorically that in Europe at least there is a great deal of support for Ukraines fight.

i think you are overestimating china and underestimating the democratic alliance of the US, SoKor, Japan, Australia, UK, the Philippines, and other nations having China as a common adversary such as India, Vietnam, Canada, and majority of the EU nations. This is not even considering the fact that within china itself, significant parts of the country have animosity with Beijing such as Tibet, HK, and Xinjiang. china stands alone in its greediness, except perhaps it has company of its thug brothers NoKor and Russia who have proven themselves to be irrelevant. Russia cannot even win a war against its vastly inferior and smaller neighbor Ukraine. china's economy is going down, and fast.
The other major difference is that while the Chinese have the largest navy in the world, they do not have a history of expertise in maritime operations. China's strength is as a land power, not a maritime one. The US has been conducting global maritime operations against first rate naval powers for over 200 years with great success. The US would also (very likely) be joined in any war against China, by fellow maritime nations such as Japan, Australia, and the UK,who also have capable navies with a history of competancy on the high seas.
We also thought Russia was a force to be reckoned with. In the end, China has not been truly tested since WW2. I think the world overestimates them, and China certainly overestimates themselves.

It's near an even match between China and the U.S. in the Pacific now . China has some advantages because of the numbers of ships and proximity to Taiwan . But the U.S. has bases in Japan , South Korea, and potentially the Phillipines that could greatly tip the balance of power greatly back toward U.S. in the next year. China vs. U.S. power in the Pacific theater is comparable, but China vs the U.S., Japan, South Korea, Aukus allies , and others combined , different outcome entirely . LAL-LO Airport in Cagayan. I see what can happen there. In a hot situation in Taiwan, USAF aircrew can be flown in to LAL-LO and have it ready for F-22s a day later. The advantages are twofold. First, it shortens the flight time from Kadena AFB in Okinawa and secondly, no KC-135 tankers would be required coming and going. Just need to pre-position munitions in the airport under heavy guard (AIM-9X sidewinders and AMRAAMs).

The presence of American bases in the philippines is a good deterrent to Chinese ambitions. Without the Mutual Defense Treaty, the Chinese would have swallowed up the Philippines long time ago. Pres. But with a war going on right now in Ukraine, why do Americans continue to pull out of Europe? While at the same time, there is enthusiasm, both by the US government and its citizenry to build up in Asia. I don’t quite understand that dichotomy.
I mean, there is an actual shooting war going on in Europe at the moment. I have even read online that some Americans, if the US were to enter into some conflict with Russia, that they won’t support the war and said that they wouldn’t enlist.
Yes, the world and the world’s media, is focused on Russia and Ukraine. But in the segment of American society that is willing to go to war, that segment is more interested in conflict with China. Again, I don’t quite understand that given that there is an actual war going on in Europe.
Shouldn’t there be as much enthusiasm to fight the Russians as there is to fight the Chinese? Wouldn’t the Ukrainians welcome American boots on the ground? I don’t understand it, I’m sure Zelenskyy would be ecstatic to have an American military base in Ukraine.

Truthfully US government and citizens don't want any war. We're all pretty tired of them and war with a nuclear armed nation is extremely dangerous.
The US government sees Russia as a declining power that's dangerous, but overall manageable and mostly requiring the armies ground forces attention whereas in pacific the navy and marines will be more important.
The focus on the Pacific is largely that China is much closer in strength to the US and a feeling that we don't have a strong system to dissuade expansionism like in europe where most of Europe is in Nato and attacking it would mean war with 31 nations. In Asia, there is just a handful of mutual defense treaties between the US and friendly nations. And China has built up bases and medium length missiles that give them a pretty strong advantage in the region. So without action China could decide to take actions knowing the US doesn't have the strength in the region to stop it.
The US has no defense treaty with Ukrain, but has one with the Philippines.
Ukraine is fighting Russia with material support from the Nato alliance. Ukraine is not part of Nato. The US and European nations are not directly fighting Russia. They dont want to get directly involved as this could escalate the conflict. Support has been calibrated since feb 2022 so as not to escalate but to resist Russias fighting power. For a number of years the US has been concerned that other Nato allies were not spending enough on collective defense, effectively being subsidised by the US. Since the invasion there is alot more enthusiasm for the alliance including the Sweden and Finland joining, increased spending from Germany etc. Russia is simply not an adversary to the west in the same league as China. Putins invasion is considered a blunder and his fight is failing. It doesnt make sense to squander military resources on resisting Russia which will be needed to contain Chinese expansionism. I can tell you catagorically that in Europe at least there is a great deal of support for Ukraines fight.

China's strength is as a land power, not a maritime one. The US has been conducting global maritime operations against first rate naval powers
for over 200 years with great success. The US would also (very likely) be joined in any war against China, by fellow maritime nations such as Japan,
Australia, and the UK,who also have capable navies with a history of competancy on the high seas.
Not to mention chinas military hasn’t fought an actual war since the late 70’s while the us has been fighting war after war
We also thought Russia was a force to be reckoned with. In the end, China has not been truly tested since WW2. I think the world overestimates them, and China certainly overestimates themselves.

As far as I remember correctly the recent simulation war games of a US/China conflict over Taiwan ended up in US loosing half of the fleet in the first week or two, that is without atomic weapons use

war games really. they gave all the advantage to china, they set the difficulty to extreme for the allied military preparedness. they are currently fixing all the rat hole in that simulation that's the only reason why they run it is to find mistakes. in the event of real war. Philippine army has been fighting for centuries way back WW2 up to the most recent islamic group ISIS. they just subjugated the last remnants of terrorist in the past weeks. Philippine army has a very strong patriotic heart that even Americans fear of. If the Philippines were a little advance at the time that they are free from Spanish rule, they will fight anybody. Spain just looted the Philippines for the whole 350 years, that's why it is a developing country. However they didn't looted the Filipino hearts but they fueled them in prepare for combat. China in the other hand are very good traders with the Philippines but they abused the waters, even the fisherfolks can't even fish, they use water canons, and the audacity they call themselves a victim here is astonishing.

There also was that conflict called Desert Storm in 1991,where the US destroyed what at that time was the fourth largest military
on Earth, Iraq, that was coming off a victory after 8 years of war with Iran.

When China entered the Korean Peninsula to fight, the American army was already on China's border. When the ceasefire occurred, the United States was on the 38th parallel north latitude. Can you tell me who won? Is it the ceasefire agreement signed by the dog in Panmunjom, North Korea and China?You go ask the Americans why they dared not cross the NATO 17th Line in the subsequent Vietnam War. They are very clear about how the American army was expelled from North Korea due to its huge equipment advantage········

Great video. Just one sticking point for me. Washington is focused heavily on Taiwan, is Manila? If there is a war over Taiwan, we will want to use our new bases in the Philippines. Is Manila willing to let us use them. Conversely, the Philippines is super focused on the South China Seas and their claims on various islands and reefs there. How far is the US willing to go to back them? Gonna be tricky!
