I will never sell the VTR1000, best thing I did though was whack a 120/65/17 on the front to replace the 70 series tyre. Its so much better in the corner entry, almost like a different bike. I urge everyone to try it. It probably doesnt stand up as easy on exit but thats no issue. Great bikes. I had a GSXR as well (now gone) as I found myself reaching for the VTR all the time. Fun to ride, and it sounds like a real bike.

I've now had my Firestorm for just over a year, and I consider it to be the best all round litre bike out there, the acceleration is phenomenal as is the engine braking, but it's also very forgiving on the twisties.I would only get rid of it for a VTR sp-2.

I have to agree. The corners are butter. You just flow through. You don't have to fight it.

Imagine how much faster it would be if it was a red one, we all know the yellow ones are slow

The Asphalt coloured ones are lethal too, real sleepers.

Add a set of 6sigma jets tuned for the exhaust your running n get it derestricted. It sound choked up. Plus a k&n filter with straight through pipes will add so much to this beauty. I like the long extended high rise pipes but for top end the shorter straight through mufflers are the go n just like dynajet you can get them suited to your altitude, intake and exhaust perfectly but for a quarter of the price.

Sure likes to use the clutch to up shift. It's cheaper to learn to not use the clutch. I don't use it to up or down shit. And it's not bright to downshift in a corner. And if you are trying to rev match while downshifting, you need more practice. But not a bad bike to be carving with. Looks like there's some $$$ in suspense work done to it.

WHY the hell didn`t you overtake them as you know you had ample power/revs on numerous accounts lol:)

hahaha!!! they are my friends, plus it was my second time passing thet road and its a scary road!!! i can tell that you like VTR as well!!

I would like to say don`t play catchup as you have the power to dominate them if you use the engine braking into a bend and roll the throttle as you leave the bend and see the apex.
Remember steady/comfortable speed on entry and roll the power out as you leave the bend and as I do, stand the bike upright as soon as possible and lay the power on my friend!:) and I can guarantee from my Bike instructor days and ultimately reassure you they will weep:)
I used to ride a VFR400RR and this engine was a (V4 very similar to a VEE TWIN) by no means a fast machine but I used the engine braking to control my speed to a bend and this intern left me to concentrate on my line through a bend.
eg. always be in the right gear for a corner meaning keep the engine on the boil or at a happy rpm for your machine (5,500 VEE-TWIN/8,500 INLINE 4) don`t back off the throttle you should always approach the bend using a steady/ linear power delivery, match revs to speed I found this OUT on my sons CBF125, for example, try to keep it at, MAX TORQUE and HP, so I was happy and steady through the bend and had the max power at hand when I required it and I undertook an FZ 600 without even thinking about it this was a combination of bike weight and handling but if you plan your speed and entry line through the bends and concentrate on rolling on the power as you bring the bike into an upright position as soon as possible, you can Dominate the opposition.

The VTR has the longest legs of any bike I have ever ridden(open her up and listen to that twin 90 degrees twin) and please bear in mind the engine braking always bring your crazy overtaking acceleration back to earth, I use my baby to the max to overtake(GSXR750 STYLE) and then progressively use my engines power to dominate my opponent!
Always remember this baby has the power to accelerate in any gear and keep her happy and in the power range. never tried to rev her out, 7000-9000rpm is her domain:)

@flip inheck HMM the weight is a consideration but the engine braking and linear power curve has always given me the edge, I can start accelerating mid exit as I bring the bike upright much earlier than an inline four and if i keep the Vtwin on the boil and using engine braking I can concentrate on my line through the turn and power is instantly on TAP, please remember in a corner steady in and on this machine mid bend accelerate out.
The V4 engine I am used to gave me roughly the same power characteristic, I braked to steady my speed then selected a gear to ensure the engine was on the BOIL for my controlled speed through the corner and select a line, then rolled on the throttle midway through the Corner as I brought my bike upright and then gave it the full BEANS! :)
I have carved up many a CBR 600 owner on my VFR400RR in my youth (80`s/90`s) and I continue to stun the latest crop of Litres bikers, as a disclaimer, I must admit I ride like my granny when it`s wet as this machine is "THE BEAST 996!)"
A thousand handshakes from your FRIENDS from across the pond, GREAT BRITAIN:)

Its V twin, written on sides...

Its about a position of engine in frame, not about an angle between cylinders...
