Ruger Security 380 - First Shots!

- In this video at the range I discuss and demonstrate the Ruger Security 380 while taking my first shots with it.
NOTE: The angle of the sun and camera against my white cardboard targets made it nearly impossible to see the hole pattern during the video.
I have the exact same firearm and the exact same ammo. It’s brand new; less then 100 rounds thru it. I had the exact same results.
I also feel it aims low.

I like it. It’s useful as I had carpel surgery in the left and have arthritis in the right. It’s overall easier to operate efficiently.
Both the 38, 0 and the 9 mm compact. They both fit those magazines. In fact, I'm not really sure yet, but I think you can put the 380 magazines and the 9 mm and I think they'll work but I'm not sure I haven't tried it yet. You can't go the other way though because the cartridge is too long for the 380 which is a good thing
Since the .380 round is shorter, it will likely jam if attempted to be fired from the 9mm version. Pistols are specifically designed to use a certain size of cartridge.
Great video . This is my everyday carry my only down side with this one it that the mag have a tends to pinch my hand at times while shooting . Dont think the recoil is any less then a 9mm
just picked it up yesterday. i like it alot. with the RA in my badly deformed left hand, i can rack this. trigger is like most guns, way to heavy 4-5#. springs available to lighten it up to under 3#.
I'm a Ruger guy and I'm looking pretty strong on this gun. The only issue I have with this gun is that's pretty big mostly fat.
It's definitely bigger than an LCP or LCP Max, but I kind of like the bigger frame. It's not as easy to pocket carry, but it's a much smoother shooter than some of the other .380s IMO. I'm not sure how it will fit into my daily carry assets but I'm definitely going to be working with it this year.

I've got a ruger security 380 and I trust it with my life!
I have one, and yes, it is bigger than most .380s, especially with the 15-round mag. But since I got it for home defense and recreational shooting, not for concealed carry, I have no complaints about its size.
That’s what I like about it. I have large hands; and this fits me perfectly with the Hogue beaver tail sleeve for extra tacky grip.
It was a guy. I believe they did another video with that same gun and they had magtech ammunition and he had trouble with it and he went back and shot three or four or five different other kinds of ammunition and didn't have any trouble with it. Mag tech was the problem. If I can remember who he was I'd give you the video

Fwiw, some dudes on an interwebs forum said the 10 rounder mags have some issues.
no they are fine. I have 3 10 rnd mags for my security 380 lr.
@@mycjohnson573 Good to know. The range reports are questionable on some of these anonymous forums I check, but it's 70/30 valuable info vs. bs the last few things I've checked into. Glad yours work.
A mag with issues is often a mag that hasn't been properly broken in.
Great pistol… carried mine today actually marketed wrong .. as this reviewer is rambling about…
Not only for old or weak … install a Galloway +10 RSA .. cuts the already minimal recoil down to non- existent… makes it a extremely fast shooter.. hard to explain how little recoil … makes double taps crazy fast and accurate… makes it a bit harder to rack .. but not much

Not bad at all, I've only had it out this one time so far but found it very manageable as I was getting used to it.
