I have the PMR 30, using CCi 40 gr and keep it oiled. Purchased the speed loader that makes it easy and perfect loading each time. No problems and shoots like a dream. Love it!
Good comparison👍 I only have the WMP, I bought it on a whim a few years ago and it has become my favorite pistol at the range.👍 I have held the other two and they just did not feel as good as the WMP, so I passed.🤷♂ I do wish it had more capacity, but when I go to buy ammo I don't.🤣
I own the Walthers and the little thing in the back isn't a striker it's a hammer fired and if it takes more than 15 rounds to hit something. The Smith and Wesson is a great gun but I choose the WMP
I've got the PMR30 and the CMR30 to go with it. I had some issues with the PMR when I first bought it (bough that one before the CMR), but I took some time learning to load/reload the mags and I haven't had any issues the past few times I've gone out with it. Love how light it is and the capacity. Loud little bugger, and it always gets a few looks whenever I start shooting. It's not "optics ready" but you can buy a Burris or Doctor optic plate from Keltec that only takes a few minutes to install. I've seen a bunch of people talk about getting the MCarbo upgrade kit, but I see no reason to get any of it beyond MAYBE the stainless steel feed ramp and the improved buffer pad. Though I need neither right now, I can see the plastic factory feed ramp maybe getting scuffed up enough to warrant a more robust alternative. MCarbo says the buffer bad wears out quickly, but I've got hundreds of rounds through mine and the buffer seems fine. Nothing else in the upgrade kit seems necessary, all the rest seem to be more cosmetic. I might buy one of their metal PMR mags, but at $75 a pop, that's a hefty investment (and it looks like they have issues with them). Factory mags are around $30, and seem sturdy enough. Great video. Thanks for the info.
I had both the PMR and the CMR as well, super fun at the range. I think the success of KelTec's PMR-30 definitely led to other manufacturers making their versions. Keltec had the benefit of first to market in that aspect. Glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching!
lol, I grew up in the Midwest where we add letters to words for some reason, still trying to kick the habit. When I was in the Navy the guys used to give me hell for it.
I have the WMP and the PMR. I live in a state that limits you to 10 rounds. I don’t think S&W has come up with a 10 round version. The Walther has never had a problem.
Agree, plus I don't like safety's on my pistols. 15+1 is more then enough, maybe Walther will come out with a 20 round or so mag later but either way 15 is fine, the main thing is the reliability of the Walther over the other 2.
I got the Smith & Wesson M&P .22 WMR and really like it. So far in 250 rounds I've had NO stoppages or failures to fire. My .22 WMR Carbine is a RUGER 96/22 lever action rifle with a Green River octagonal barrel (.22 LR barrel re-chambered to .22 WMR. so I could get the proper barrel length.) It's accurate but has a crappy trigger that CANNOT be improved.
The PMR is a fun pistol for sure, it does have its drawbacks, lol. The M&P model is definitely a step up, but I have to give KelTec credit, they did bring a modern .22 magnum to market before anyone else.
Good video. Ive got an old Colt Trooper 22 mag revolver i bought 40 years ago. It was always great but now it keeps breaking the internal springs even after replacing, they broke again. Im not sure if the gunsmith is putting correct replacement springs in it. He's a good gunsmith normally.
...I absolutely love my PMR30. The only thing I wish is that Keltec would do is offer a factory lightweight replacement slide assembly so I can run an optic on it. All the current optic mounts for this weapon are clumsy, half-azzed looking add ons. Give us something clean and sanitary and I'd be an even happier camper...
If they do an actual optics slide they'd likely rerelease as a new model, I'd definitely get one. I am surprised I haven't seen a quality aftermarket optic slide yet though.
Live in Europe and in a couple of months I am going to get a permit, my first and only gun the first year can only be a .22... I am torn between the P322 Comp, FN 502 tactical, MP 22 and Walther WMP.. which one would you recommend? I believe the .22 magnum has a bit more punch and could be better for if you only can own one gun.
If the availability of ammo isn't an issue the .22 Magnum Walther would be my choice, if .22 magnum ammo is scarce compared to .22lr I'd go with the P322. Either way, I think all of them would be a decent choice for your first pistol.
@@citizenpew thank you for the quick reply. I’m confused, you went with the MP 22 in your video. Why are you recommending the Walther? 😃I have access to CCI hollow points (22 US D for 50 bullets dunno if that 's a good price.. CCI standard velocity 22lr is like 8 USD for 50 bullets... way cheaper)
If you can get the M&P in .22 magnum definitely that is my recommendation, I think I thought you were referring to the .22lr version, I must have misread.
I am into accuracy/grouping. I appreciate you doing some accuracy shooting but what range did you shoot, 5 yards, 10, 15, 25, 100? Who knows. Also accuracy depends not on standing shots but the use of some sort of a rest. Just a suggestion.
I've been bad about mentioning my target distance in videos, something I've been working on improving. Typically with pistols I'll set up at 10 to 15 yards. I agree that for accuracy some form of rigid fixture for shooting is ideal, I've been looking into a portable shooting bench for that. A buddy of mine has one that's pretty nice, definitely on my list to get. I appreciate the feedback, I'm always looking for ways to improve the content, thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts!
I have wmp and keltec. Both function flawlessly. Both are way more capable of producing a helluva lot better groups than you put up. How far was that? Terrible at whatever the distance. At 25 yards both the wmp and keltec are capable of killing a golf ball no problem. My pick of the two is the wmp. It's a heavier, stronger, larger frame, bull barrel, smoother pistol. Either is a fine choice for small game, snakes, paper, or tin cans. The groups you shot are terrible.
If I didn't mention it in the video I usually set up for 5 or 10 yards when demonstrating pistols, sometimes I'll do both. Relaying that information is still something I need to get better at mentioning in the videos.
Unfortunately , the ultimate .22mag is a revolver , specifically a S&W 651 four inch with target sights. I really wish there was a total reliable maggie pistol. Looks like the WMP is the best so far.
Both are good firearms, I'd say both have their place too. For myself, I wouldn't EDC a .22 Magnum, but it does make a good backpack gun if out hiking or something.
@@citizenpew when a 3D printer prints out a .22 Magnum and a Glock 19X, which one would scare people more because I want one to keep my house and my family safe, but I can't afford either one of them.
I own the M&P S&W. I'm experiencing the same issues plus my magazines are garbage. I bought the kit with the 4-30 round magazines and all of them bind up with about 20 rounds. I can put in 30 rounds but they are all stuck and need to be manually removed from the magazines. They don't start working properly until I get them down to 18 rounds. This is BS. I own several awesome Smith and Wesson guns but honestly this 22 mag gun is a huge disappointment.
I need to look into the mags and do another video, I remember reading about an issue with them with a solution. I've recently put an optic on mine and getting ready to test it out, be a good time to investigate the mag issues many seem to have. Thanks for the comment!
Not the most technically savvy review (yeah, the little “thing” in the back indicates that there’s a round in the barrel), interesting he chose the S&W despite its relative lack of reliability. I’d go “Walter” (or Walther) as most of us realize…

Judging from the video reliability is the most important. I would take the WMP

I went with the Walther because it just runs. Less ammo capacity but it works. Idk why they made it ssssoooo big with only 15 rounds?!?!?

FYI: AMT came out with a .22 Magnum semiauto handgun almost 30 years ago.
My lgs had a KelTec come back in with a cracked breech face.
I had a AMT 22 mag, terrible trigger pull. It would only cycle Winchester ammo.
Automag 2
Now I know why I own the Walther WMP.
lol, I have to admit, the Walther is likely the most reliable out of the three.
Wooo, aw right. I own a PMR. Other than the constant misfeeds and failure to eject... And the front side falling off... It's a fun gun.

Yeah S&W would make a cool carbine in 22mag
I think that the Smith is really a Kel-tec 2.0. I admit that I love my WMP so I am bias . Thank you for doing this video young man.
I have the PMR and even after putting in a stiffer return spring, I still get a lot of blow back gas and powder. I have been looking at the Walther.

Yep. Walther has been making them reliable for a long time, why won't they trim that size down to a subcompact, pocket carry type model??
@@ingeniousmechanic I understand it is because it takes mass and weight to make them dependable as they are. I asked the same question.
@@paulmoss7940 that does make sense
Walther always # 1 best grip and shoots perfect

Did you just say Smith and Weston?
If you want something that’s gonna fire basically you want to get the Walther
🔥🔥🔥
I liked the video, but to go with a gun less reliable is I strange choice in my opinion.

I do know of a "Walther" though.
How about Smith and Weston?
lol.. wooo alright!

I think in the German language Walther is pronounced “Valter.”

The Walther is hammer fired, not a striker fired pistol. You aren't the brightest bulb.
does he know any other words other than "alright?" so annoying.

Walter? Never heard of it.
I can't trust anyone who says "Smith & WESTON" SMH.
