    I got mine and LOVE it. There is no recoil. Very smooth. It is my every day carry now. I have a ten and a 15 round mag with it. Hard to beat. I paid $271 for it. I think of all the 380's I have and have had in the past, this beats all of them, hands down. Ruger hit a home run on this one. GO RUGER!!

    I just picked mine up last week and after just one range session, I'm already in love! My 'go to' .380 since the late 1980s was my Sig Sauer P230 which many considered one of the best .380 pistols out there. This Ruger is so much smoother shooting and far less recoil. Off the bench rest it almost as accurate as my Sig P230. Ruger hit it out of the park with this one!👍👍

Carry that way now 3 out of 4 seasons, sometimes with a vest, sport coat, shirt, lights jacket, or a winter coat if necessary. Total comfort, and accessibility especially sitting, Iike in a vehicle. For every EDC I have multiple options for seasons, and clothing. IWB, OTW, belly band, ankle. All depends on the weather which I deploy. A good shoulder rig is the most comfortable, and desirable for me. That said brother, I'm not limited like most to geography. For the common everyday citizen that is not involved in law enforcement or military operations, a 380 pistol for personal defense is just about perfect, because they now come with higher capacities and they are so easy to control that your shot placement is spot on. Heavy 9mm or compact 9mm prove harder to shoot for many people, but 380 is the cream of the crop! Because good hits on an object are better than near misses. Plus they are much better to conceal. Mind you, that I am speaking of the larger 380 pistols like Ruger Security 380, the Sig P365/380 and others in that size range, because the smaller ones have a good amount of felt recoil making them less desirable. Rent at a shooting club and see what makes you feel comfortable. 😊be safe and shoot straight 😊

    I bought a Ruger security and have been to the range.
    The magazines (In mine) were a little stiff, I went back to the store and the guy said to leave bullets loaded in the magazine for a while, and they will feed easier. If not I will contact Ruger, I hear they have awesome customer support. (When I loaded all 10 rounds the top round sometimes did not fire, I was firing Monarch ammo which could also be the issue, I am not complaining, I just bought different ammo and listened to the advice; going back to the range soon)
    As for the gun, it shot smoothly other than the feeding issue, I have a Smith and Wesson .22 Compact and wanted a step up. (I have arthritis issues) and there was only slightly more kick to the 380 than the .22 and manipulating the slide was about the same.
    One thing to consider, 380 bullets are expensive. But that is coming from someone who is used to going to the range and firing 250 .22 bullets and not even thinking about the cost.
    Overall I am happy I went with the Ruger 380.

    • @crankygunreviews
      @crankygunreviews  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All valid concerns, and yes these mags are a bit harder to load than a 22, yes the mags need to stay loaded for a bit to break in, and yes ammo is a lot more expensive than 22.
      I’m glad you can handle the slightly more recoil, I’m hoping you’re as happy with yours as I am with mine.
      For losing the mags in, it is easier with a full mag to load the mag in the gun if the slide is locked back, I’ve noticed on mine sometimes you really have to slam the mag in to get it to seat, and I had one or two occasions where the first runs didn’t want to load when I racked the slide from closed due to the spring pressure when the mag was fully loaded.

    It is a great gun, for sure. I’m 78, and for me it’s a great break from 9mm recoil. Just don’t shoot Armscor ammo in it; you’ll get some failure to fire rounds in every box. Must be something about their primers; the strike looks good but it just doesn’t go bang. I bought 2 boxes of it and had 5 FTF’s in one box, 4 in the other. I saw another TH-camr reviewing the gun that had the same trouble with Armscor; just stay away from it. No it’s not as much punch as a 9mm but not everyone can handle 9mm recoil, and with the longer barre on this you get more velocity so it will help hollowpoints have a better chance to expand. A flat nose .380 will have decent penetration, and may not do as much damage as a hollowpoint that expands or as a 9mm, but it’s more reliable and better than a .22lr it’s all relative. Could you please explain what's happening with that?... Thanks.

      @@crankygunreviews Hello again,.... I can't help but wonder.... Do you think it was Ruger to make the compensation of the mag swap, or the retailer you bought from?... Nice of them to compensate for the restricted mag with an extra lower capacity mag.... Do you find that normally they just refuse to ship the large capacity mag, in most cases?

    • @crankygunreviews

      It is from Ruger. The SKU from Ruger shows a hogue grip sleeve, and three 10 round mags they are going to MA. ruger.com/products/security380/specSheets/3854.html
      In some cases, a gun that otherwise would be legal for us to buy is not simply if the manufacturer does not have a separate sku for our state with 10 rd or smaller magazines. Stupid legal hoops our state makes manufacturers jump through to sell here.

    If you're going to carry a gun that big, why not get at least the 9mm? I'd go LCP Max for the concealability

    • @crankygunreviews
      @crankygunreviews  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It’s more of a range toy for me- I wanted to compare it to a S&W Shield EZ .380, I have a lot of good small 9mm’s already, but your point is valid- unless you can’t handle 9mm recoil, getting a security 380 over a security 9mm does not net much benefit, especially since the ammo performs better, and 9mm is cheaper.
      And I have a P238 and S&W bodyguard 380 already for concealability
      BUT the Security 380 shoots like a 22- low recoil, super fast follow up shots, comfortable, and makes me smile when shooting it
      It’s a good gun
