This video made me realize something in regards to Mia and her roommates automatically hopping in her car like she pulled the eternal DD card: Mia is drinking soda almost every time she and Seb are out. She talks about her beloved aunt who “lived in her liquor and died with a flicker”. Ergo: Mia doesn’t drink. Interesting details!
Ever notice that in the song *Someone in the Crowd* (The song is about finding someone you love hidden in the crowd) they say "The one to finally lift you off the ground" well in the scene at the Griffith Observatory Sebastian picks her up and lets go and then she's floating gracefully in the air. Therefore Sebastian "lifted her off the ground" and boom they are in love. That is just what I think that scene is representing and it also looks really fucking cool.
It's also played in the engagement party song. The song is about doing "what you need to do till they discover you," which is what seb is doing, causing the friction.
For the season motif, I am sure the motif is not LA but their relationship. Spring is their meeting and the beginning of their relationship when it's all blooming like spring, Summer is when they are happy together, honeymoon season if you may where things are going amazing, and everything is green and alive. But in Fall things start going down the road and their relationship starts falling apart, but their careers start picking up. The winter is the conclusion, where everything has settled down, and they have reached a stable point in their career, but their relationship is all but over, merely living in the memory of all the seasons that brought them there. Ok, I am done defending the season motif now.
Why aren't you a literature teacher? That's about a perfect analysis of the scene! I'd have never thought of it that way before I read that, and it makes total sense.

I burst out laughing as soon as she said play "I Ran". It's a joke because in the song, the keyboardist plays all of like 5 notes the whole song. For someone who loves piano it's a really annoying and boring song to play.
Yes, I didn't get the joke at first, but yet as soon as they start playing you can see Sebastian playing only five notes on repeat with a disguted face, so even if you don't get it at first, you get it during the song. Therefore it's not just for a specific audience, maybe if you play the piano or some instrument it's funnier, buy you can get it anyways.

I like that they were able to admit that as a fan of the movie, it was about Hollywood idolization. This is why a lot of people didn't connect to the movie and/or found it boring. There's nothing wrong with being a fan, but as with any movie, it helps to consider other perspectives.
But it showed a lot of the bad side of Hollywood also. It showed the kinds of things it does to people psychologically, and it shows the shallowness of various successful people. I'd hardly say it was totally pro-Hollywood
I agreed with him too. When I saw this movie, I went in knowing I was the exact demographic this movie was intended for because I'm a hopeless romantic and a lifelong musical nerd who also happens to like both Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling. I even joked with my friends that it was basically tailor-made for me, so it shouldn't be a shock to anyone that I loved it. But I can understand why others didn't like it and I think that there are plenty of legitimate problems to have with it. Like the whole "white man saves jazz" angle, which I personally gave a pass because it was a subplot and he got called out on it by John Legend's character.
0:58 My favorite character in this entire movie is the guy playing Timpani in the back of that truck. He is fucking thrilled to be there. You go, Happy Timpani Guy.
wierdalliecat yea, at first i was like this is some kind of musical shit movie things. but its truely beautiful and the cinematographic is just awesome
And then you have this and Get Out where it's just raining sin reductions taht make you want to watch the movie even more when you see that even Jeremy liked it. :P
SIN- They broke up over one fight. 1 damn fight! So how in love were they really? It ended so easily it was hard to feel sad that they didn't end up together.
You mean after they basically haven't seen each other for weeks on end, had a fight where Seb was extremely hurtful and after he didn't see her play. It was obvious to them they couldn't stay together and follow their dreams. And they both loved each other to let each other go, to make each other happy.
As JJ said, they had been having major issues for some time. They never saw each other, were wrapped up in their own ambitions while being dismissive of the other person's short-term accomplishments. That one fight was a culmination of weeks of serious problems. Maybe a real life couple would have tried to work things out, but in the film, the writing was basically on the wall that they couldn't be together while also committing themselves to their career aspirations.
I loved this movie, it was timeless, beautiful, colorful, the cast, music and plot was great, everything was great (hope I’m not the only one) and thanks for acknowledging Emma stone‘s acting here! She truly deserved the Oscar!
@@iamnotmyown Two people with passions meet. They fall in love with each other's shared passion, and want to support them. But ultimately pursuing their passions comes at the expense of their love for each other; You can't have everything.
for me the most unrealistic part of the movie was how did she manage to find a new husband, have a child that looks at least 3 years old AND get really famous just in a few years
thats not unrealistic, its a symbolism that she got famous over the course of the five years because of the audition sebastian encouraged her to attend. the epilogue is to show that they both fulfilled their dreams and strived to do their best for one another, even if it meant they knew they could no longer be together.
The most unrealistic part of the movie is at beginning, when she is late for important audition. She is late for important audition because she set the alarm for time when she is already late.
Zero GT: Wolf I think he meant that they live in homes and do activities that are too expensive for what they should reasonably make. I agree with him on this, when young people watch his before they become independent, it leads them to believe that this is how they should live and it drives hem into debt.
And there's *still* no way they could all afford that place in California. Our housing prices are completely insane. There's no way a barrista could afford that place with only three roommates.
You left off the parking. Everywhere they went they found a parking space, and usually right in front of where they wanted to go regardless of the time. I've been to LA, the only time I found a parking space was when I paid for it.
5:33 "Hey movie, your Singing In The Rain is showing" Fun fact! Most people know that La La Land is a tribute to Hollywood films (most noticably from the 40s and 50s, ) including Singing In The Rain, but Singing In The Rain itself was also a tribute to Hollywood films from the 30s and 40s!
as a jazz musician myself, this main character's hyper-obsession with the genre and apparent need to have it as his only conversational topic is frankly boring and unrealistic.. sure, it's a big part of his life, but a music style shouldn't be your whole thing just like weed or football shouldn't be your whole thing.
True, but there really are people like that who become so obsessed with their niche thing that they basically ignore everything else in life. Most people have varied interests and hobbies, but it isn't totally unrealistic that he's consumed with jazz and only jazz.
I would disagree that it's unrealistic, just because it shouldn't be your personality doesn't mean it won't. People worship music styles all the time, just look at emo culture. And, that was one of his character flaws, he was too devoted to this genre that it consumed his life, and even indirectly caused the strain on his relationship with Mia that centered around the band, because he didn't like the music he was playing. In my opinion it was a good element for his character to have, and partially drove the story.
"Cinema Sins Guy dies while recording record breaking sin video. Cause of death, combination alcohol poisoning from a drinking game he was playing while recording the "Everything Wrong with The Emoji Movie; sins video - - " I warned him not to do it , said Chris.. Jere will be missed, as no one else can fill his shoes.. OR do his nature box ads - - he had the password to the account." I jest! I jest!
I loved the majority of La La Land as much as anybody else, but my one huge problem with it is that it seems like the ending WASN'T realistic, it was just trying to be. I mean, I would've believed it but then there's that huge montage of what could've been at the end that makes it very clear that they still love and think about each other, so even if Mia was in Paris or wherever it seems like she wouldn't have gotten married so quickly after breaking up with Sebastian as to have a child only 5 years later, if she still had feelings like that for Seb. It's sad for the viewer sure, but it doesn't even feel realistic if both of them were actually becoming super successful, like wouldn't they have stayed in touch? Idk that's just my 2 cents go ahead and yell at me if I'm wrong (Also hire me CinemaSins)
I'm going to guess the types of comments I see down here: Die hard La La Land fans who can take a joke. Die hard La La Land fans who cannot take a joke. Die hard Moonlight fans who hate this movie. Die hard Moonlight fans who have an appreciation of this movie. Cinemasins fans who don't give a f*** and just want to enjoy the video. Some bots with virus links. Did I miss anything?
I swear, people just can't accept the fact that not everything that becomes popular is automatically bad. It's happened to Undertale, it's happened to Steven Universe, it's happened to pretty much anything else that gains massive traction. It annoys the absolute crap out of me. Not only that but people will find the most mediocre reasons to hate on a thing. One guy in this comment section said the movie was bad for "not having any sex scenes." Also your profile picture perfectly matches your comment.
It's the "I hate this movie" crowd I don't get. They are so unreasonable. It's fine to not be interested in something or be underwhelmed but these people don't know what it means to truly hate a movie. A movie should do more than be inoffensive to get this kind of reaction.
So you love this movie so much that you refuse to believe that someone could have watched it and not liked it? I mean I like this movie but I also think it is overrated. And yes I watched it.
The comments section are so divided right now. There's haters shitting all over the movie for its supposedly undeserved fame and hype while the people defending are nearly as much as the people who liked those comments. No wonder it took Cinema sins a while to release this, the shit storm surrounding La la Land is wild as heck. So to the people who came to the comments section, seeking inspirational discussions or positive opinions on the movie, I advise you to turn back before you befall the same fate I did when deciding to write this comment

2 minutes up, already 300 likes, I guess people just instantly like a video made by a content creator they like. I mean a cinema sins makes enjoyable content almost always but personally I would want my audience (If i had any sort of audience and/or uploaded content) to watch and evaluate the content I make rather than like it because it's from me.
Red Pinch honestly i disliked it merely because of him saying "great joke. i had to rewind it 5 minutes because i missed everything from laughing too much. give those writers a raise and a half!" *adds a sin* like... wtf lol. i feel like this channel has been doing that a lot lately or just sinning things when he was just making an observation.
La La Land is great and all but I still don't get how it got nominated for "Best Costume Design". Can someone please help me understand why the hell it got nominated for that.
it shows how the characters progressed; in the beginning mia wore bright colors that matched with the scenes (cause damien is a fucking genius with lighting) that showed her youth and ambition. and the story progressed and she loses faith/matures, the colors start to become more subtle and grown up. the muted colors signified an end of an era and eventually the end of their relationship. it was nominated because it was symbolic, not because it was intricate
Not your thing i know, but I wish you would do DCOM Descendents. 2 is coming out and I need you to sarcastically comment on how all the villian kids have single parents and good kids parents are married. like i would be happy with just that one sin.
dispelll my little sisters were watching the first one the other day and something that I noticed is how many people are in that school. Like isn't it supposed to be a school for descendants of Disney royalty? There's not enough princes and princesses to have that many kids.
I thought it was a school for all the kids that weren't banished to the isle. Also, I still haven't gotten to see the first one through, but I got the gist. I was that close. I still only got to see half of the second one. I think Uma and Harry are my favourite "couple" (I say they're a couple.) Like if you agree.
I know what is burning in the oven at 10:16 When I saw the movie, I, too, wondered what the heck it was. Watched it like 17x. Did research. 2 hours later.... it's an APPLEPIE. Not just any apple pie but a 25lb apple pie. Apparently, everybody went over to Gene Kelly's widow's home for dinner, and Emma brought flowers and Ryan brought this HUGE pie. They ended up putting one like it in the film. Also apparently, at Dollywood, the 25lb apple pie is of legend and ppl say its worth the trip there just to eat a single slice that can feed 4 adults
As you posted in the video about the hilarious prius joke, I also salute you for the slow-hand holding moment just for her to say good night but then give Jared a hummer. Sorry for your pain, and obvious sin that was required, but it did make me laugh for awhile so I had to go back to hear what I missed. I'm not laughing so much for what happened, it was just not what I expected in this sudden turn of events when you started that sin.

That part where he’s like “What’re you doing right now?” And she says “nothing.” There’s just something abt that exchange that makes my heart melt every single time
Just picture for a second how much he'd have to censor and how long the movie is. If he does it, it'll probably be done around the time they release one video a week.
Despite the cliches and that heart-wrenching tease of an ending (which I loved because it was different even though I cried so freaking hard), I LOVED THIS MOVIE! Definitely one of my all-time favorites! I love musicals, so I was going in with a positive attitude on this. The style, the acting, the music, I loved it all. And they were paying homage to Hollywood, so it was going to have lots of cliches. the cinematography made this movie look stunning. I could watch it over and over again. I rank this up there with Phantom and Les Mis as far as my favorite musicals movies. La La Land will always be my Best Picture of 2017!

I like that they were able to admit that as a fan of the movie, it was about Hollywood idolization. This is why a lot of people didn't connect to the movie and/or found it boring. There's nothing wrong with being a fan, but as with any movie, it helps to consider other perspectives.
Thank you
But it showed a lot of the bad side of Hollywood also.

It was boring because the characters were boring empty cardboard shells.
0:58 My favorite character in this entire movie is the guy playing Timpani in the back of that truck. He is fucking thrilled to be there. You go, Happy Timpani Guy.
MegaFriendlyCreeper Hes just happy to be alive!
As a Canadian who spent time in L.A. in more than one January, I saw people with parkas (while I wore a t-shirt). Unfarkingbelievable.
It's not that they need the parkas, it's that if they waited until it was actually cold to wear their cute winter clothes, they'd never get to.

Anika Potgieter watch this movie now! its freakin amazing
Anika Potgieter
Me neither
Joey Sung honestly I just don't want to watch this movie
wierdalliecat yea, at first i was like this is some kind of musical shit movie things. but its truely beautiful and the cinematographic is just awesome
They broke up after he didn't show up for her play. She just walked out after the fight
i .candy fight me
i .candy
Nice bait
What plot?

Mom's Spaghetti Im guessing you dont actually care about anything the movie and just came here to shit on people.
Guys, you realise he's taking the piss, right?
for me the most unrealistic part of the movie was how did she manage to find a new husband, have a child that looks at least 3 years old AND get really famous just in a few years
... and that didn't end her career, like most of actresses who are """""old"""""
thats not unrealistic, its a symbolism that she got famous over the course of the five years because of the audition sebastian encouraged her to attend. the epilogue is to show that they both fulfilled their dreams and strived to do their best for one another, even if it meant they knew they could no longer be together.
The most unrealistic part of the movie is at beginning, when she is late for important audition. She is late for important audition because she set the alarm for time when she is already late.
me: I love La La Land
also me: I love this video
I hate how movies keep portraing young people that despite having little or no income they are able to live a life above their standars.
Zero GT: Wolf I'm pretty sure that's not what he meant at all
Zero GT: Wolf I think he meant that they live in homes and do activities that are too expensive for what they should reasonably make. I agree with him on this, when young people watch his before they become independent, it leads them to believe that this is how they should live and it drives hem into debt.
Well Mia had a job and 3 roommates
And there's *still* no way they could all afford that place in California. Our housing prices are completely insane. There's no way a barrista could afford that place with only three roommates.

5:33 "Hey movie, your Singing In The Rain is showing"
Fun fact!
Ok babadook

It beautifully directed, acted and musicalized, but the script is terrible.
I feel its realistic in the sense that life doesn't always go as planned for many people, or at least exactly how you thought it would play out.
You know.
Jurassic Park is my REAL La La Land!
How so?
I'm going to guess the types of comments I see down here:

Alright, I love this musical, so let's get ready.
Here comes the, "This movie was overrated" comments.
One guy in this comment section said the movie was bad for "not having any sex scenes."
Also your profile picture perfectly matches your comment.
Brian Ngoma Being overrated doesnt mean being bad.
Its just that, people praising it more than what they should.
WalkUpSlowlyDownSmash most people saying that didnt even see the damn movie. They just jumping on the bandwagon hate

The prius joke thing was more sarcasm than observation I think.

La La Land is great and all but I still don't get how it got nominated for "Best Costume Design". Can someone please help me understand why the hell it got nominated for that.
the colors were AESTTTTTHHHHHHHHHHHETIC!
It didn't win best costume design :\
G M C It was nominated for it though. My mistake.
It's my all time favorite movie, and the clothes were nice, yes, but they were regular, so I agree that other movies deserved it more
it shows how the characters progressed; in the beginning mia wore bright colors that matched with the scenes (cause damien is a fucking genius with lighting) that showed her youth and ambition. and the story progressed and she loses faith/matures, the colors start to become more subtle and grown up. the muted colors signified an end of an era and eventually the end of their relationship. it was nominated because it was symbolic, not because it was intricate
I was expecting to see "Everything wrong with Moonlight" in this video.

I don't know why but every time the spotlight and musical instrument happened just cracked me up.
