It’s hard to choose which one is my favorite because all three are wonderful. Thank you for sharing a perfect example of layering and using a limited palette. A wonderful exercise to try.
Hi Kim I usually like circles but this time I am drawn to the squares. All three are gorgeous. I guess when I play again I'm going to have to stop all that thinking. The last one with the heart I've already cut it into a card in my head. Just gorgeous as usual. Thanks so much for sharing.😍😍😍
+Judy Daino thanks Judy! There is definitely something about the rectangle/square one isn't there?! Have fun playing with it! And I like the sound of the card!
Very useful exercise. I’m drawn to the circle one. The half circle page reminded me of coffee cups. I will definitely use this warm up in my work. Thank you for sharing.
+Dorothy Kovak great! I am glad you have found it useful and have fun trying it out. I love that the semi-circles make you think of coffee cups! Very cool!
Hi Kim, Thanks for the inspiration and encouragement. I like the circles for their simplicity; the rectangles for their complexity; and the half circles for their originality. You’re a great teacher! ~Bo
I really love this video for multiple reasons: 1. The practice of turning off the inner critic and to stop over thinking the work is one that really resonates with me as I ALWAYS over think every mark I make (to the point of even preventing me from making them) and my inner critic is viscous! 2. This exercise seems completely doable. It's well structured which deeply appeals to the control freak side of me but also freeing because I don't have to make too many decisions, I just need to DO THE EXERCISE! 3. I love the idea of using these as a warm ups before tackling larger works - BRILLIANT! I've forgotten to do that in my own practice as of late, and I think I will truly benefit from adding this sort of thing back into the beginning of night studio time. Thank you for this and all of your videos. I discovered your channel today and absolutely love it!!! Also, the circle piece is probably my favorite - but that's because I always gravitate towards circles. :)
Thank you Devin. I am really pleased that you liked it and will find it useful. Overthinking can be useful but oh boy can it also be a block to getting anything done! And that inside critic is so nasty as you say! Well I hope that this exercise gives you some relief from time to time! Thanks for watching my channel! Have a fun creative day!
Definitely the circles... they pull me in and are the first elements to grab my attention. I liked the squares in the 2nd and my perfectionist mind saw those dotted lines as trails pushing those squares into a grid arrangement which I love as much as circles. And what can I say about hearts... they always save us, don't they? Thanks for this exercise and food for thought.
I love all 3 of them but I'm a sucker for circles so that one is my favorite. Thanks for reminding me to not over think it but think a little. Very inspiring, I'm ready to get into my art again (after a few days of frustration on how to begin again). Tfs.
Hi Kim! I would say that the semi- circle page was my least favorite while the other two tie as favorites. I like them really well! I also like your videos very much. Thank you for trying to help me curb the inner critic (which is pretty much paralyzing). It really is helpful to allow myself warm-up time or play time or just relax and see what happens time! So, thanks for trying to help me not trip all over myself and to enjoy the journey!
My favorite changed with each new layer! I think now it's the first one, though. What can I say, I really love circles! Such fun! I must try this myself -- & soon! Hugs from Ireland.
Hi Kim...I'm new to your channel and I'm glad i found it. I love the circles & squares equally but I must admit when you start putting the heart on the semi circle it was like the cherry on the cake.
Thanks for this Kim, I'm definitely going to give it a go! The circle one is my favourite ... but I love the way the black marks bring life to each of the pieces.
GREAT creative exercise and warm up!! It all seems so simplistic yet it's easy to see how it teaches so MUCH!! I found you through the art hop and am so glad that I did! ❤️❤️
hi Kim. The circles are definitely my favorite - I also tend to use them a lot. I still can't get over how easy doodling comes to you and how you know precisely which mark to make where. You can make the dullest page POP with energy. I loved this exercise... maybe you can make your video's just a little bit slower. Thanks for great and entertaining videos.
Ahh you are very kind! It is all just practice! Thanks for your video feedback too. I have been learning and hopefully getting better at my film making!
Loved your video... will have a go, I'm always looking for different techniques. Thank you. My favourites are the circles and rectangles, somehow they just jump out. Thanks again. I have subscribed.
Thank you for sharing this video! I do so like your style and have subscribed to your channel. I liked the circles best of all; mainly because I’m not very adept at doodling.
Moi ça me plaît beaucoup.
Thanks very much for this Kim. Looks easy and I will have a go at it. So much I want to do and so little time! I like the round one on the far left best but I do go for all your round imagery anyway. Out of the other two I like the heart semi circles then the squares. I love the colours you used too. I have Americana craft paint and I think they dry with a matte finish, I am not sure as I have only just bought them, so I can have a good try. Your speed is ok for me. I can slow you down if I need to see something a bit slower. Hugs xxx
+Dorothy Radley I know, right?! It is hard to know what to do sometimes as there is so much we want to try! I'm the same. Let me know how you get on and I would love to see the results if you feel sharing! Also I would love to know how you find the AC paints, I've not used them so I'm super curious! I'm so nosy! 😂😂😂
Hi Kim! Just found your channel and LOVE it! Can you please tell me about the "colored number" strips on your working paper ?? Is it it washi tape? Thanks!
+Lauren Fraser thanks Lauren! Yes it is washi tape that I'm using to stick the protective paper to my work desk. They are just from my stash, I'm not sure where I got them from I'm afraid.
+Lauren Fraser 😀 that sounds right 😀 I don't know if it is just the one I have but it is very very low tack. Lower than my other Washi tapes. (Just in case you were thinking of getting it!)
Oh wow I just love this ... I am going to try it ;) Also I'm going to post it on my facebook group (junk journal tutorials) tomorrow for my daily post! I just found your channel and am going to watch more for sure ... thanks for sharing, I"ve subscribed ;)
I'm seeing this pretty late in your cycle of postings, but I enjoy just randomly choosing various projects you've posted and end up liking ALL of them...LOL!! You generate great ideas and I love your use of Gelli prints as well as all the mixed media...Thanks for jump starting some project ideas the next time I teach a Gelli class...
Yes, I forgot to mention this. I get a little frustrated when so many artists tell me that I have control over the speed of videos. I’m watching on an iPad and I don’t have any control. I would definitely prefer it if you could slow it down a notch or two. Thanks!
I've got a lot more videos with creative tips and tricks to help your art practice here: bit.ly/2GhR9TK

They're all 3 surprisingly wonderful. The first one, with one strip of paper and circles, is my favorite. Thanks!

Love all three, but if I would have to choose, number 2 ❤
This is such a simple exercise. Might want to try it myself. Great use of scrap paper.
+May Loo wonderful! I would love to see the results if you feel like sharing them with me! Have fun playing!
Very cool!

+Linda S thanks Linda, I'm glad you like it! I think the rectangles are winning so far 🤣
I love all 3 of them but I'm a sucker for circles so that one is my favorite. Thanks for reminding me to not over think it but think a little. Very inspiring, I'm ready to get into my art again (after a few days of frustration on how to begin again). Tfs.
Ahh we all need reminding not to other think it! I need constant reminders! I am glad you are getting back into your art again!

So helpful, this is just what I need to do as I’m way too hesitant and critical. This will be a great ‘must try’.
+Robin Murray excellent! Have fun with it and remember you aren't alone in the being critical and hesitant! 😁
