    I like watching, no fuss, no crap chat, just basic down to earth, and you appear to know your stuff.

    Done the mosedale horseshoe several times in the past with two border collies sadly long gone. My favourite part is the view from Red Pike beyond wastwater including Whin Rigg & Illgill. I’ve been known to sit several minute’s absorbing that view. Thank you

    Pillar was my first mountain in the Lakes. My Grandad took me up there when I was 16. There was absolutely no visibility and sideways rain. I remember us grabbing some shelter at the top and managing some very soggy sandwiches. This year he has been diagnosed with Parkinsons and Alzheimer's, putting an end to his hiking days. As I moved to Carlisle a few years ago, I've now laid out plans to summit as many Wainwrights in the lakes as I can. Beautiful videos like this bring the memories flooding back whilst also making me looking forward to getting back out on the trails!

      Thanks for your comment - it's so nice to hear that people find the films useful. Sorry to hear about your grandfather's diagnosis - hope he is as good as possible, under the circumstances. Have fun on the hills!

    I did the same hike over to Blacksail from Wasdale Pub nearly 30 yrs ago and the only thing that has changed is the conddition of the Path out of Wasdale and into Ennerday, gone are the rough tracks and in came the stone steps, a vast improvement and it should stop some of the Errosion.

      Thanks, Tony. good to hear - Fix The Fells and the National Trust have done some great path building work out and about.

      @@LakeDistrictFilms Now I am retired I have all the time left to reattempt some of the hikes I missed out when I was younger, like most of the Ridgeline Hikes, but now due to age the knees would give out 5 minutes after starting, so instead I view others doing the routes I missed back in the 1970s to 1990s. But I sure do miss my two weeks of Lake District Hikes every year. I knew there would come a time when it would no longer be possible to carry on and I guess I have reached that age, BUT I have a lot of memories to look back on and viewing others hike in those areas lets me relive my memories. Coast to Coast completed in both directions, Pennine Way completed in both directions, Lands End to John OGroats completed in both directions, Norfolf Coastline from Hunstanton to Lowestoft and finally the Complete Coast Line of England, Wales and Scotland. I only hope there is a Hiking Section in the afterlife and then Nothing is Impossible. Good Luck to your Future Hikes, but a word of warning What you Enjoy NOW will not always be possible in the future, so record as much as you can now and like me use videos to relive Your Memories at a later stage in Your Life. @@user-TonyUK Many thanks, Tony. I believe that one of the reasons Wainwright wrote the Guides was as an aide memoire for when he thought he wouldn't be able to do the routes himself. Thanks again for your comments and support. Best wishes, Neil

    Brilliant video. I’ve been walking the Wasdale fells with my family (partner and x 2 kids). We’ve done, Lingmell, Scafell and scafell pike, great gable and Kirk fell. Pillar is next for us. It looks a bit hairy at the top! How dangerous /narrow is the high ridge to the summit? Also how’s the descent from red pike. The music makes it all feel like a walk in the park! But I’m sure it isn’t at all! Your dogs do great! Thanks for such a useful video! 🙏

    • @LakeDistrictFilms
      @LakeDistrictFilms  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you! It’s been a few years, but my recollection is that the path op to Pillar is reasonably straightforward and not exposed. The ridge up towards Little Scoat Fell from Wind Gap is a bit more scramble, but also not too exposed.
      The descent down Dorehead Screes is definitely steep and not enormously fun… the alternative way off is following the path to the west of Yewbarrow, which is fairly gentle, but significantly adds to the length of the walk, with a longish plod back up the road/Mosesale Beck back to Wasdale Head.
      It’s a great walk, all in all, but inevitably a long day!
      Hope that helps.

    This is a really good video.Wish I had spent more of my younger years walking and not stupid working. My knees are knackered now but vids like this are great to watch. I hate to moan about such a good vid but more dog shots and less bloke shots would be nice.
