By heck “Mountain Goat Marra” - what a walk/trek that was! That’s a serious ascent up that scree slope (Dorehead Screes). What a mountain goat you are! The footage was so atmospheric - the hanging clouds and fabulous views throughout - really takes you there, and gives you a real sense of the terrain and conditions. Very well done. Billy looked in his element. Tek care …. and keep on trekking!
Awww mate absolutely chuffed with that feedback very much appreciated 😊 It's a tough old route nothing technical just roughneck slogging... Lol the way we like it 🤣 Have a great weekend Marra 😊 Tek care stay safe Andy and The ROCK STAR ⭐ 🙏🏻
Another brilliant vid Andy and Billy. What a great route. We have been wanting to do Pillar for a while but can't decide on a route. This has inspired us to get up early, get round to Wasdale Head and do the Mosedale Horseshoe. We probably won't go up the Dorehead screens- looks a tough old slog but might start at Over Beck and go up Yewbarrow first. That'll be on the cards for a few weeks' time when we're up next. Thanks for the inspiration 😂 ATB Brian and Jill 😊😊
Thanks Brian & Jill...Overbeck is definitely the way to go if ya don't fancy the notorious scrambles on ether end of Yewbarrow it can be bypassed on a traverse path up the side taking ya up to the col of Dorehead...thanks as always for watching guys have a fantastic day tek care stay safe ATVB Andy and The ROCK STAR ⭐ 🙏🏻
Well done chap. Great footage and commentary, gorgeous views. Did that about 20 years ago, but straight up Mosedale to Black Sail pass. Billy's a cracking dog, could almost pass as Allen's dog Blue's brother, from Bush Man and Blue.
Another great video. Absolutely love the footage 16 minutes in, of you and Billy walking along the ridge in the clag. The music for that piece fits beautifully. So atmospheric. Well done once more! 😊
Hi Andy and Rockstar, wonderful film of an impressive looking walk. Great drone work yet again mate. Listening to you saying how many times you’ve been up some of the fells is so impressive mate, makes my one and only walk up Castle Crag seem poultry but it was still a major achievement for me. Keep them coming mate, they are my breath of fresh air. Cheers Glyn.
Hi Andy and Billy. Wonderful opening drone footage. The weather looks really good at the moment. Loved the bridge near the pub. Lovely views of the valley just before the terrible rocky climb ( scramble). Always follow the rockstar Billy, dogs usually follow the easiest route (or so I'm told.) Wow you're very brave after that scary climb. Thank you so much for sharing, it's something I will never get to do again. Well done Billy Bob on black crag. Red pike certainly looked much easier. Wow the scenery with the clouds looked spooky, but eerily fantastic Well done Andy and Billy. I didn't know there were 2 black crags either. Some of the terrain is frightening. The drone footage is fantastic, so dramatic. The scenery is magnificent. The river walk at the end was beautiful. Take care and stay safe. Atb to you Tracey and of course Billy Bob.
Apologies for my late reply Yvonne I've been very busy (life in general) thanks as always for watching very much appreciated...that scree path sure is notorious my second time on there and I think probably my last...lol that's untill some one asks me to join them for another go 😂😂.... Never say never 🤣 Tek care stay safe ATVB Andy and The ROCK STAR ⭐ 🙏🏻
That's a brutal route up or down, Andy. well done for doing it and managing to film at the same time! I remember the rest of the circuit well - I came up in the valley between Yewbarrow and Red Pike last time and did the skyline to Pillar from there - cracking area.
Not a nice route Irene I'd forgotten how bad...i think that's my second and last time up Dorehead Screes...Wainwright has it in his book as a way up...hells fire the old boy must of been fit or maybe young 🙄 The route could be done from Overbeck even avoiding the notorious scrambles up and down Yewbarrow using its side traverse path to the col of Dorehead. Thanks as always for watching and the great feedback Irene 😊 ATVB Andy and The ROCK STAR ⭐ 🙏🏻
@@RockStar67 I reckon that path has deteriorated loads since the old boy did his books. I often re-read the Wainwrights, not only for route ideas before I go and also to see how much the routes have changed afterwards, but just for the pleasure of reading his writing. The old curmudgeon certainly had a way with words! You're right - I did your circuit the Overbeck way last time (I've yet to try to get up Yewbarrow as I'm doubtful the knees would cope with those scrambles) and I'm just remembering, I also went up the Overbeck route to Red Pike and then round the Steeple end of that skyline, coming back down via Scoat Tarn. Must do that again as it was a cracker. I know I've said it before but I really enjoy your videos for the new ideas they give but also the triggering of memories of past routes I've done - nice to relive stuff when I'm now down in Norfolk and only get there occasionally. Keep it up... and keep organising that orchestra! LOL
Cracking route Andy! I did question the sanity of going up Dorehead screes until I remembered coming down them, an experience I don't fancy repeating 😂 just checked out Sharkey's alternative route from the Y boulder, that looks really interesting and good fun on the right day!
Aye mate I sometimes question my own sanity...lol I've done a lot worse...but not so much these days I have Billy and Tracey to keep me on't straight and narrow...aye mate the Y boulder route looks a grand route I'll definitely have a bash some time Tek care stay safe Mate thanks for watching ATVB Andy and The ROCK STAR ⭐ 🙏🏻

Belting vlog andy pal love the drone here flying in the mist totally agree this is a belting spot never done red pike but its on my list mate for all I did smash one of my drones up here near it and was gutted I did go up the same way as you here but was sick so binned it 1000 quid lighter 😂 but I will return one time with a new drone for it wouldn't mind Trying the other path you pointed out up the side of wall well the bit path you can see anyway good stuff buddy loved the path back down from it looked a great walk back 👍
Hi mate, hi Billy. Mega mate, I’m going to do that route, looks amazing. I’ve not done Red Pike or Pillar yet so looks like I’ll be doing that next weekend. Shame the clag was in, but it looked very atmospheric. Nice to see the pins out again, does that mean it’s the official start of summer! 🤣 All the best Marra Dave 😀🥾⛰
Haha aye Marra it's official ☀ ☀ ☀ Mosdales a great route but Dorehead Screes really are as bad as they look there shite!!...i think next time I'd do it from Overbeck the notorious scrambles on ether end of Yewbarrow can also be avoided if required via a lower traverse path bringing you out at the col of Dorehead Thanks as always for watching Dave tek care stay safe ATVB Andy and The ROCK STAR ⭐ 🙏🏻
After doing this route but the other way round. I had to decend via Dore Head screes 14 years ago in my early 40s and even then I vowed never to decend or Assend it again. Very steep, very tricky on the loose screes and had to dig my heals in and concentrate on my desent speed.. Not one for a trip or fall. Great video, brought back memories of the route and proberbly my favourite round 😁

@hikermikem8 thanks buddy much appreciated I've just put another up myself another down Newlands Valley Cat Bells side...enjoy buddy have a great week 👍🏻

Another beltin video Andy. I did the horseshoe with my daughters a couple of years ago but did Yewbarrow first. When we got to the col below Stirrup Crag we surprisingly saw a couple nearing the top of the screes. The fellow came up a grassy rake to the right and is wife came straight up the scree. Is there an actual trod on the grass all the way up Andy? What a superb horseshoe though. Views just stunning and even better through the eyes of the drone. Cheers as always Andy and Billy

Loved that Andy. Only time I've tried Dorehead Screes it was a miserable day and ended up abandoning. First time I did Pillar it was via the "high level route". Would like to do it again, but not sure if Charlie could do it, as I recall there being a nasty little scramble right at the end, by Pillar Rock. Not sure if I went the wrong way though...
Hiya Tony mate the Shamrock Traverse (High level) dose have a la'al Scramble to the Summit but I think your right you could have gone wrong as I did on my first attempt a lot of years back...it really isn't that bad mate I'm sure Charlie would be fine...regarding Dorehead lol...good call turning back I've now been down and up and in no rush to do it again 🤣 Have a great weekend buddy cuddles for Charlie ATVB Andy and The ROCK STAR ⭐ 🙏🏻
