    One of the most comprehensive reviews of this phone that I've seen...and I've watched just about all of them. Very well done!

    Of all the reviews I've watched, this one mentioned most of what I wanted to know. Others seems to be just copy and paste from other reviews. Thanks for detailing the small things which matters too much for some people like me like the icon packs and themes. May you please let us know if the font in this device can be change without third party apps to handle it? Also, my problem from my old BBQ10 is the hardpress keys after years of using it. Do you think this Keyone has a better keyboard and hardpress keys will not happen overtime? And if not, is there still a way to use a virtual keyboard on a portrait mode if there's a problem with the physical one? Thanks a lot Jeff!

    • @jspring86
      @jspring86  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +Robert Pascua as far as I've seen there is no way to change fonts in the stock settings. You can easily change font size but not the type. The keyboard appears very sturdy, seems most similar to BB Bold. If you need to you can show the virtual keyboard on screen anytime you need even when using the physical keyboard.

    • @robertpascua7493

      Thank you Jeff. Very much appreciated your reply. I hope they would include an update for the font because a lot of people love customizing their phone.

    Great video and complete summary! This KEYone is looks so solid! . Question about adoptable storage do you recommend it? Which

    • @jspring86
      @jspring86  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I personally don't think it's a great idea because some of the apps for Android still don't work seamlessly with adoptable storage. I would only truly recommend it if you get close to filling the 32GB of internal storage, which could be possible for many people I suppose. If you do use it, grab a super fast micro SD card, Samsung EVO Select work well for me: amzn.to/2qJSKKi

    I've tried one, and the short cuts are very simple to program and work very well. The camera is nearly as good as the s8, which if you search for you'll find a great review.
    Feels solid, brilliant battery and a great camera. Oh, and a keyboard!

    • @jspring86
      @jspring86  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah it's really good. The only camera I'd put above it is the Pixel XL, which I still think is a bit better than the S8+, but the KEYOne and S8 trade off taking the best shots depending on lighting conditions.

    Out of all the reviews, you have the most detailed review yet! Thank you! Like +Robert Pascua mentioned, being able to add an icon pack is a big deal to me; given that I plan to use the stock launcher and forgo Aviate. My only question is in regards to the homescreen. Can you confirm if the Google search box can be removed, along with the clock? Using the slide out notification feature, will it show SMS from Android Messenger or another 3rd party SMS app? What is your stance on using adoptable storage on this device? I usually look away at devices that only support 32GB of internal storage. Again, thanks for the attention to detail.

    Will most likely get it when it drops in price a bit. I had to switch phones a while ago - from a PP SE to an iphone SE - and can't afford to switch back to BB so soon. I am sure I will still enjoy it a lot a year or so from now.

    I would like to know in the full review how the keyboard works with gloves as I work outdoors and it's a pain in the winter. These shortcuts may be exactly what I need. Also how is the Bluetooth for streaming music?

      *FINGERS CROSSED* because, although I'm unlike my generation in it's fetish for mobile games and floppy bird, etc. Music is rather important, as I'm sure it is to others as well. I love BB, but I love clear, loud Spotify as well.

    • @andrikristianto2577

      Jeff Springer : I'll check it out for sure. Just put of curiosity on battery life, I use the iphone 7 plus and I think the battery life is the best from all smartphone I have used, even the capacity is only 2900 ish. It only take 1 charge for 48 hours with normal use (but not gaming), and still remain 30-40%. I also use the bb passport with 3400 ish battery life capacity, but the life is quite far from iphone7 plus. With normal use, there is no way near 48 hours. 24 hours is maximum. Is the keyone battery life comparable with the iphone 7 plus?

    • @jspring86
      @jspring86  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Andri Kristianto honestly the battery on the KEYOne is one of the best I've seen on any Android device. I get about 7 hours screen on time. You could easily get two days if you don't do any heavy gaming or other intensive tasks. The processor in this phone is super efficient.

    • @andrikristianto2577
      @andrikristianto2577 7 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @chrisrox163
    @chrisrox163 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great review! Definitely the most comprehensive video thus far and its not even your full review.
    One thing that I've heard and maybe you can confirm is that the "type of swiping" function works for BOTH virtual and physical keyboards. Probably doesn't matter that much as it is a pkb but a cool feature nonetheless.
    Keep up the good work!

    • @jspring86
      @jspring86  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      As far as I know, the only swipe actions you can perform on the keyboard or two fold-1.) You can swipe up and down or left and right to navigate webpages, Twitter, your home screen. 2.) You can swipe up on the keyboard to auto-complete words when typing. this works by swiping just under the word you're trying to complete. The traditional method of swiping around to complete each word does not seem to work on the KEYOne, the only option to turn that feature on is for the virtual keyboard.

    • @chrisrox163
      @chrisrox163 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the confirmation! It was a feature on the Priv but I guess it didn't find its way onto the k1. Looking forward to the full review!

    Fantastic (in depth) 😂 review best I've seen I've got the s8 and to be honest the novelty has worn off after the hype it's just another beauty product really. Now I've actually held the keyone and had a play with it I think it's a step (Giant leap) from the last few years of sameness and I'm seriously thinking of getting it, you've sold it to me great review keep up the good work!!! 👍😊

    Can you watch youtube videos on background like BBOS? Or does it pause when you switch apps or go to homescreen?

    • @jspring86
      @jspring86  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can still play TH-cam in background, thats a feature built into the Android version of TH-cam.

    • @Erchamion647
      @Erchamion647 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Isn't a feature that come with TH-cam Red? I knew it as playing youtube videos on background without TH-cam Red subscription was a privilege to BBOS users.

    If you're taking notes on the KEYone, are you mostly using Google Keep or is there another app?

    • @jspring86
      @jspring86  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Plaz Flame Blackberry has a really good note taking app of their own, but since I use a hunch of phones and need sync across devices I'll probably use Keep after I finish up my review, but the Blackberry app is solid.

  • @miljan999

    For us BlackBerry users, the most important information is about stiffness of the keyboard... for example is the keyboard soft as on BlackBerry Q10 or is it hard like on Blackberry passport? that is very important, because we all the time type on physical keyboards, and it is not easy like on onscreen keyboard.

    • @jspring86
      @jspring86  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'd liken this keyboard most closely to the BB Bold in terms of pass Blackberry devices. It has a nice tactile feel to me, reminds me a lot of the Bold.

    Hey Jeff can i ask you a question right quick?, how do the top corners of this phone feel in hand or even in your pocket. I like this phone but those top corners look sharp and uncomfortable in a pocket. What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance.

    • @jspring86
      @jspring86  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Kuroku Tetsuya they're not sharp in Pocket. Not as rounded as the bottom but those are more important as you hold the phone there. I wouldn't worry too much about top corners I think you'll love the phone.

  • @MarioEnriqueAg
    @MarioEnriqueAg 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How compare its keyboard with the Blackberry Bold? Size, comfort, response

    • @jspring86
      @jspring86  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Mario Aguila it's actually very similar in feel...the key spacing may be a bit closer together on this device but I haven't found it to be uncomfortable the clicky and tactile response is still there from the Bold.

    • @MarioEnriqueAg
      @MarioEnriqueAg 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Jeff Springer Thanks. Bold 9900 was my last BB and I miss its keyboard. I think the space in the new one is bigger. In fact Keyone is a wider phone.

    Hi Jeff,, Good slight review. I always thought BB was cool over the years, but were always outta my price range.
    Does look like a tuff looking phone, kinda my preference. Wish they'd have put stereo speakers on the front of the phone, but what else is new. Still a bit steep for me with no stereo speakers. Wish screen was at least a 5 inch, but with layout would have to widen it. Love the battery size, does seem like it'd push two days. Other features are fine. I like a good screen, great speakers and great battery life primarily, usually if a phone has that, other features seem to be good too. Good review, looking forward to full review. thanks.

    • @jspring86
      @jspring86  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @leerobinson590 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I have a priv, passport and a passport se. This looks too narrow. Not much wider than my priv. I'd love a horizontal bb slider phone. Battery life looks good though.

    • @jspring86
      @jspring86  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think there will be many that still want the old Blackberry back, but I do think this is a huge step forward in terms of usability from the PRIV. This device is a great compromise between satisfying previous Blackberry owners and Android users that may want a physical keyboard again.

    • @RushdiBaharum
