Maddie Prior is a very nice lady. We met her once after a gig. Steeleye span got me out of trouble. When I used to play my music loud the neighbors got a petition against me but when I played Steeleye span records the local children danced around the gardens which saved my bacon.
Francis and Maddy did a song together last year, Hard Times of Old England. To be fair I didn't quite like it, even though being a Quo fan. I think Steely Span's original version is more Quoing than this new one.
Status Quo are part of my furniture and I was pleased to hear this but Maddy’s clarion voice was the benchmark for this song and I should like to have heard more of it.
Don’t care what anyone says about SQ they have always stuck to their formula and always a huge fun band. This song was out around Christmas 1975 and has been indelibly printed in my memory as a great joyful song. Maddy is of course tremendous.
Have been a fan of Steeleye Span and Maddy for as long as they've been around. Why have I never heard this version before. Respect to quo for making such a great arrangement of this.
What a fantastic performance! A great song made famous by Span, and amazing performance by quo and maddy to mix up a delight! Maddy and Francis are Inch perfect with timing etc and they are loving performing together! Fantastic entertainment - loved it!
Love both outfits both Quo & Span and seen them both “Live” of course. What a wonderful alternative version of this perennial fave. More than full marks. You could not have sat still in that concert hall. Yours in great rock & folk-rock:/ Chris 🎼
Lucky enough to have seen Status Quo at Wembley, with INXS and The Alarm, supporting Queen, but have also been to some great Steeleye Span concerts. They took time after each concert to chat with fans, so I took the chance to meet Maddy Prior as well, and we had a quick chat. My girlfriend was already a massive fan, but she was too shy go and say hello, so I dragged her over and, after some initial trepidation, she managed to say how much she enjoyed the show. It was lovely to have met Maddy Prior and, as we shook hands, I promised to go along to one of their future concerts, which turned out to be publicised as their last show, in Letchworth. Great folk music from a really tight band, who had a close bond with their fans, but they were so much more than, 'All Around My Hat'. As for Status Quo, they rocked your socks off, and I love this cover!
Maddy Prior, voice of an angel from before talent meant prancing about in knickers to a studio backing track, and she was mixed to the back; bloody criminal.
I'm guessing that's a young Troy Donockley on the Pipes. He's done well for himself over the years. Lots of fun seeing Maddy Prior just have a really good dance & sing on stage, even if her vocals were not mixed very highly.
Love this cover and Maddy Prior is always excellent. Great to see Troy Donockley on the Uillean pipes. Now a full time member of Finnish symphonic metal band, Nightwish.
Wat een mooi lied en Status Quo doet het lied eer aan. Heel goed en krachtig en beheerst gespeeld. Als je zo gitaar kan spelen en zingen tegelijkertijd dan ben je "blessed""
Wow, what a rollicking great song, and it's sung by some amazingly talented performers. I'm Canadian so not too familiar with the British musical scene, but this is truly impressive stuff. I really, REALLY love this music.❤💕💕❤
As your probably on lockdown now is your chance.......Lindisfarne and Jethro Tull are a good start......Status Quo in the day were the choice at most parties!
I am a Status Quo fan but I'm a Steeleye Span fan as well, and the best singers of all were The Silly Sisters, Maddy Prior & June Tabor. Brilliant stuff. Apparently Robert Plant said they were the best, too. There's a lot of crossover in rock and folk and really cool rock dudes know when they're hearing something great !
Wishing Maddy's mic had been turned up louder....and Francis should have let her take a verse on her own... Still, she looked like she was having a lot of fun!
@@lennyhendricks4628 that happened even to Lennon singing with the band in the last times they were live. Maybe not enough rehearsals, since no live shows or tours were in the calendar, which Paul missed a lot the most. But oddly once in his solo career, John went into appearances and guest at others' shows and he did perform uncannily focused even with material not his he barely practiced together with them. All great artists go through such periods off focus performing whther vocalists or instrumentalists or both
Yeah that´s it !!!! Legendary "Status Quo" (R.I.P. Rick Parfitt) and Sister Grandioso "Maddy Prior" !!! Absolut Amazing !!
And R.I.P. Alan Lancaster.
R.I.P. Alan Lancaster !!
Super impressed by Quo's spirited rendition of this great song and, judging by her enthusiasm for it, so is Maddy Prior. Brilliant.
Don't think I have ever seen anyone as happy as Maddy is to be on the stage, in front of a crowd. What enthusiasm she has.
Maddie Prior is a very nice lady. We met her once after a gig. Steeleye span got me out of trouble. When I used to play my music loud the neighbors got a petition against me but when I played Steeleye span records the local children danced around the gardens which saved my bacon.
You know what this is? Absolute sheer fun. Thata what this is. Like only Quo can do. Maddy Prior is having the time of her life.
Love this, Maddy Prior is a legend and Quo also did it justice. Awesome rendition.
One of Status Quo's best covers. I have always thought Francis Rossi and Maddy Prior should do an album together! This is friggin' brilliant!
there is actually a Steeleye Span & Francis Rossi album
@joannagodfrey5111 what do they call it

What a fabulous pairing. Well done Quo and well done as ever Maddy Prior!
One of the most joyful songs ever recorded. I've listened to it dozens of times for 40 years!
I remember this on Top of The Pops when I was in high school.
In complete agreement...Maddy looks in the zone...
Best cover Quo have ever done!
Best song Quo have ever done!

Rockin All over the World? Fogarty.
There couldn't have two more different bands, Quo and span but this is pure class.

The Maddy rocking out with the Quo. What's not to like!!

I love the joyful fun of this video, they are having a great time and I'd guess the audience did too
Maddy looks to be having a ball! She's brilliant and that unmistakable voice . . . ❤❤

Well how can you be miserable after this? Pure joy.
I'm so glad this exists! Thanks to Quo, Steeleye and thanks for sharing it with the rest of us
Wow. Never knew this existed! What a great mix of genres.
Love it!
I remember Steeleye Span's original version, and I don't usually like remakes with other groups, but this was great!
No words , just brilliant 😃😃
Brilliant! Sheer joy. What an inspired combination.
Superb! Huge fun. I've followed Steel Eye in one form or another since the 60s and this version is one of the very best, bless them all!
Loved it and this song is, to me ,the quintessential British folk song!
She is still the Queen of Folk-Rock as a Grandmother these days
If this doesn't leave you smiling you are either have no soul or dead already.
Hell of a bass line
Shes still awsome, loved her forever xx
Maddy can still rock with the best of them
I'd forgotten Quo had done this version with Maddy.Brilliant.
Hör ich das erste Mal und ich bin begeistert - Wahnsinn
Wonderful! Stunning!👍🌹
This song, you cant forget! One of the best when i was young!
Just brilliant all round. Wish I'd been there!

that wembley gig was awesome.....apart from the rain..
Maddy Prior, voice of an angel from before talent meant prancing about in knickers to a studio backing track, and she was mixed to the back; bloody criminal.
Agreed, her voice should not have been buried.
A rollicking song all the same

ROCKIN SONG..
she sounds and looks as good as ever!!
SUPERB. RIP Ricky.
What an honour the only woman to sing with the quo
Tessa Niles also sang with them on this gig.
What an honour to sing with Maddy Prior.
Is there any video of Maddy Prior performing where she isn't grinning ear to ear? She always looks like she's having the time of her life up on stage.
Quo for ever and ever
👍
Never seen this before - it's brilliant !!!
Look at those happy middle-aged people kicking it! What fun!
When I let loose on stage these days, I end up paying for it the next few days!!! Eish, mind is willing, but body says "Oi ! Hold up there, sister!!"
Bloody FANTASTIC
Troy rocks. Mandy rocks. Quo rocks. Serendipity personified.
Nightwish knew what they were doing when they invited Troy to join them as a full band member.
I’ve seen Troy when he appeared at my local British legion when he was in the Bad Shepherds with Ade Edmondson, great night
the joy of it all.
Wow the quo and Maddy 2:14 awesome brilliant
Maddy is the sexiest woman ever!
No argument from me on that score. But she's more than that.
Very pleasantly surprised. A really good cover version.
Love it!! Thank you.
A GREAT VIBE.
Jesus h wept this is just, the best!!!
This is a mix of "All around my hat" and "Burning Bridges" excellent!
Maddy’s voice should have been mixed a bit louder so you can actually hear her!

Don’t confuse this with a folk song. It’s an absolute riot and musicians having fun!
Most folk songs are an absolute riot with musicians having fun, it's not all po-faced purists.
Hermosa version

You are right about Maddy's microphone. nevertheless , this version is full of energy perfectly performed by these excellent guitarist
If you have Maddy there, why sing at all? She should've been lead singer on this.
@@Nefarioso hope this is wrong, but maybe she's no longer able to handle all the verses and wanted it this way.

Love Maddie letting out her inner rock chick with the Quo!
awesome...thanks
Status Quo is one of the most laid - back bands of all times. Though they started as psychedelic group, history similar to Bee Gees.
Quo and Span? Mint!
It's all for my true love!
If they had done a12 bar blues version of this with Maddy it would have been worth listening to.
Go Maddy!
Quo took the wrong turn 30 years ago. This is rocking good.
This Quo is not the Frantic Four but the Showband
