If we are looking for the most effective xylitol products, what are we looking for? The most effective xylitol products are the ones that are going to do our teeth the most good. You can put xylitol in just about anything you are going to put sugar in, but for our teeth we are thinking of the most effectiveness we can get.
Let’s concentrate on oral care products that are used regularly.
    Toothpaste
    Mouthwash
Breath spray or dry mouth spray
Confections that encourage chewing or sucking:
    Chewing gum
    Hard candy
    Mints
Look at labels first. Look for xylitol as the first or better yet, the only sweetener on the label.
    Damaging vs Protective Factors.
    Damaging:
    Sugar and fermentable carbohydrate
    Acid
    Xerostomia
    Virulent “acid” breath
    Protective:
    Xylitol
    Neutral, alkalikne pH
    Saliva
    Calcium, fluoride
    Non-acidogenic bacteria
Xylitol promotes protective factors. Xylitol stimulates saliva, increases salivary pH, promotes remineralization, and suppresses acidogenic bacteria such as Strep. Mutans (MS). With the help of xylitol you can stop germs, the acid attacks, and tooth decay.
How much and how often should you use xylitol? It depends, but the daily range is between 1 to 3 teaspoons (4 to 12 grams). Use at least 3 times each day, we prefer 5 times each day.
Dr. Peldyak believes frequency is more important than amount. 4 to 12 grams per day or 6 to 10 pieces of gum per day. Active Strep Mutans infections in adults require at least 6 grams (which is 8 or more pieces of gum). Strive for five uses each day, after each meal and snack. Use xylitol toothpaste morning and night.
If you are high risk for tooth decay, you might want to add a little more xylitol per day. High risk patients require at least 6 grams per day, where the average person should use at least 4 and up to 12.
When using xylitol, plaque becomes less acidic, less irritating to soft tissues, less inflammatory, less adhesive, and less harmful.

this vdo saved my life, my teeth, my money. This is the last formula to my plaque problem. I have no cavity for years because of regular floss after meal, yes every meal. This is the only key that is missing. Thank you

First gum you recommended had glycerine. I heard from Dr. Ellie Phillips that glycerine is hard to remove from our teeth so prevents remineralization of tooth enamel. What do you think? Thanks

I wondered the same thing. I just saw a video yesterday from a dental hygienist recommending xylitol pulling. Where you take xylitol crystals and swish them around your mouth for several minutes. I know that doesn’t answer your question directly but it seems like using them to brush with might be okay.

Start taking vitamin c, 1000 mg 3-4 times a day and CoQ10, use xylitol and your periodontal disease will go away. Think of periodontal disease as a focal nutritional deficiency. Once you take care of the deficiency and quell the bad bacteria you will see a change.
