    Hello, i have just completed this upgrade a couple of weeks ago with the same coilover kit, it was not an easy job very rusty nuts and bolts and because of COVID i have not been able to get replacements from my VW dealer. So i used all the old bolts i bought a repair kit from Autodoc which includes some or all of the nuts and bolts but the bottom suspension clamp bolts are not included so i have not replaced yet. I also replaced discs and pads as the discs were well worn, put ventilated ones on but original brakes were fine but for the extra i went ahead. great video and some of your tips will be noted and i will try to set up as well as you when i am finally back on the road.

      @@mcjjordan hello, since I posted this question I have removed the coil overs. I have gone back to standard suspension as the coil overs were a nightmare. They caused a lot of problems and the ride quality was terrible. The van looked brilliant but even wound up as high as it would go you still couldn’t get a comfy ride even on smooth roads and it shook everything apart in my van.

    • @CrispysProjects
      @CrispysProjects  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good choice on van, not having lot of experience with other van kits it's hard to say, the JOM may be too stiff with the low profile tyres if your fully loaded. I needed shocks as well making it worth while overall, which I'm happy with the results. Options could also include a good spring kit on original shocks or a sports kit which H&R and Eibach feel closer to OEM sports but don't have that adjustability once fitted, good luck researching

  • @Fremulshmat
    @Fremulshmat 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    What about passing the mot with coil overs? Does the van handle better going around corners/roundabouts now? In retrospect would you say similar results could be achieved with lowering springs?

    • @CrispysProjects
      @CrispysProjects  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      MOTs aren't a problem providing when fully jacked the spring still has loads, isn't rattling about.
      It handles so much better, way more responsive, don't get me wrong it's still a large tall vehicle with a high centre of gravity and not magically a go kart!
      2 reasons I went for cheaper coil over kit over lowering springs, I suspected the shocks were tired, none were 'gone' . Lowering springs are good and many have a OEM feel but particularly with vans you need to know the weights, so a camper V empty makes a difference in stance at rear, hence ability to tweak it
      Couple brilliant questions 👍

    Am seriously thinking about this kit to my T5.1 just worry about how much harder will be on bumps or bad quality roads ?

    • @CrispysProjects
      @CrispysProjects  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Adam, honestly I would say this kit isn't for you, it will be too hard and horrible to drive.
      Factory Springs have many coils which give little movement per coil which absorbs the bumps. I'm on nothing but smooth roads
      I would consider with for more money good new stock shocks and eibach or similar sports springs. Your not going to get the drop😟
