About Me:
As a young child, Jonah Krochmalnek, the visionary founder of Living Earth Farm, experienced the sheer delight of a ripe homegrown tomato from his dad's garden. It was a taste of pure magic, a simple pleasure he wanted to make accessible to all.
After leaving the corporate world, Jonah volunteered at a local farm, igniting his passion for farming. In 2013, he took a leap of faith and launched a microgreens business right out of his parents' modest 150 sqft spare room. Little did he know that this humble beginning would grow into the 5000 sqft facility known today as Living Earth Farm - one of Canada's premier organic microgreen growers.
Driven by the purpose of feeding people the absolute most nutritious greens, Jonah's journey is a testament to the transformative power of growing food. Through personalized consultations and impactful coaching, Jonah is on a mission to share his wealth of knowledge, helping vertical farms across the globe thrive and making delicious, simple food accessible to communities everywhere. Join us in making the impactful positive changes to our food system with microgreens!
Did I miss the actual recipe? Where is it?
It’s in our free growing guide on our website. Link is in the description
His recommendation is to add 30 grams of Gaia green 4-4-4 fertilizer per gallon of soil.
Always Valuable Content 💰
Can you drop a link to the manual seeder you used? It looks amazing! 😊
We should have it available for sale in the next two months. We will be doing a limited production run to start so if you'd like to be on the early access list feel free to shoot us an email :)
The seeding machine is amazing.
Hi from Germany.
Thank you!!@@katipohl2431
Is the seeding machine available yet?
@@theredroaster7442 Almost, we have beta test farms using it at the moment. We do have a backlog of preorders. If you'd like to purchase please email us and we can add you to the early release list!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with me. I appreciate it.
My pleasure!
How much does the seeder cost? Plus shipping?
Jonah, thank you for the video.
If I follow your recipe to use 30 grams fertilizer per gallon of mix, and one tray holds roughly a gallon of soil, I have 66.6 trays from 2 kg of fertilizer. With price of $32 per 2 kg, $32/66.6=$0.48. But you was saying about 17 cents. Please comment.
Buy the 20kg bags are much cheaper. The 2kg is retail size and much more expensive per kg
I want that seeder!
Is Gaia Greens a slow release fertilizer? How do the microgreens have tme to utilize the fertilizer?
It's partially fast released and partially slow released. No organic fertilizer would fully release in 1-3 weeks, but the microgreens have plenty of nutrients available with the Gaia 4-4-4
Doing my first super soil run right now!
Awesome, excited to hear the results :)
Where did you find the recipe?
@@dvadojka9068 Its in our free growing guide eon our website :)
I loved this episode! This is the second time watching it I’m searching for soil atm I can’t get promix where I live but carrying out tests to find the best organic compost at a price that works. Keep up the great work✌️
Awesome!! Keep experimenting and you'll find a soil that works well :)
thinking of using it in your production ?
Been doing it for many years! I’m doing comparisons so that growers can visual see the differences and implement them into their businesses :)
The seeder looks cool. Would like to see it in action and see the distribution of seeds. How does it work with different-sized seeds? Also, I used to work at a greenhouse focused on propagation and we used vermiculite on top of our seeds as well.
Once we're ready to start selling to the public we'll have videos showing it in action! It works with seeds as small as amaranth and as large as pea and sunflower. It also topcoats vermiculite! Farmers designing tools for farmers makes the best tools!
Thank you. I just purchased your course and didn't see it on the recommendation supply page in Lesson 3. What email address should I use to be on the limited production run early access list??@@microgreensconsulting
Use the email on our website. TH-cam won't let me add an email or websites in comments :(@@gdem1627
Where can I buy that seeder you have?
We should have it available for sale in the next two months. We will be doing a limited production run to start so if you'd like to be on the early access list feel free to shoot us an email :)
where can i buy the seeder you're using?
You can preorder the seeder by emailing us. No deposit is required!
thanks for this awesome video. will try to get everything from your mix. i am not in the us so i have to find something different for the mix. over here i cant sell 60g for 6$. the regular prices are around 5.5$ for 100g. do you find this is worth a try? would been only around 12-15$ per tray. worth the effort?
thanks
Martin
It really depends on many factors. In the US/Canada most microgreens sell for $5-6 for between 60-100 grams depending on the product. If you focus on the most profitable crops to start then 100% it will be worth the effort. You can download our growing guide and crop analysis tool for free on our website to help you get started!
@@microgreensconsulting thanks for your answer 👍 i will definetly try this Business. I grow them since years at Home and have Most of the Equipment already. Just have to figure out how to get the highest yield out of each tray and green. Even if it isnt as profitable as in the us/ca, i will try to max it out. Its all about selling/Marketing skills i guess
@@martinw.84 did you expiremented yet and are you willing to share? i face similar issues, living in europe
@@buhu446 i Had a good start and gave away some greens for free to potential clients. Then, i dont know why, 2 out of 3 trays always get full of mold and i Had to throw them in the trash
I'm confused on the soil to fertilizer ratio, the Promix comes in 3.8-CF, but you say to mix 30 grams of fertilizer per gallon of soil. How many gallons can you mix from 1 Promix bundle of 3.8CF?
One compressed 3.8CUFT bale is approximately 53 gallons uncompressed. So 30x53=1590 grams per bale
Do you think this will work with the Promix BX version as well?
@@theredroaster7442 It will work, just more prone to issues than HP or MP
Any idea about how many trays you’re getting out of a bail?
@@theredroaster7442 roughly 40-50 trays
