      I highly enjoy that aspect of their channel!!! A wealth of information. I have been lead to so many other local for me farms and homesteaders again providing so much knowledge. So much love Mike and Lacey from just outside of Greensboro, NC. Thank you so much. Completely open to being a volunteer farm hand if yall are ever in need. Hopefully in a couple years l will successful enough to be featured on your channel when things are better established for myself and my family as we branch out our skills into a consumer market.

    I'd love to know how she grows in the winter!? With growing in a greenhouse don't you loose light in the short sunlight seasons?

      Not all are ad friendly. A lot are turned off by ads. I only watch ads for channels I enjoy and want to help. When I see to many ads I don’t even bother. Mike if you add one or two more ads I’ll still watch the ads. Great video I’ve been interested in getting into micro greens.

      Laura I can understand why you don't like ads but if you only knew how many thousands of hours we have put into our content and how many sacrifices we have made just to create FREE content (because it doesn't cost you anything to watch) you would want us to make a little more money for what we do. If I round it out I (Lacie), just for editing the videos, have not even made $3/hour for all the work that I have done. That doesn't even include all the work Mikes does for filming, planning, etc... There is nothing wrong with us wanting/needing to make money for what we do.

    Good Morning Brother & Sister it’s the lords day Sunday 9-1-2019
    Just wanted to Drop you a line to tell you that with the comment section turned off on The Hollar Homestead TH-cam page: In just one week their subs has went from 77,000 Subscribers to 60,000 in just one week. Yep I been watching it & they have lost 17,000 + subs in one week. This is why I said in previous message about it being TH-cam suicide to close all subs off from making comments. This just goes to show that people want to be a part of a channel if they commit to giving that channel their valuable time: People that donate their time want to be able to leave comments. It’s TH-cam suicide, but if they want to go from 77,000 subs to nothing in no time, thats their tough luck. Some TH-cam channels never get to 77,000 subs or 60,000 what they have now! I just think it’s not a very smart move on their part or anyone else’s to lose all their subs over something comes with the Territory of TH-cam trolls that can be blocked individually. Have a blessed Day Brother & Sister! 👍

    • @MikeTheFitFarmer
      @MikeTheFitFarmer  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can appreciate your concern for the Hollars channel but it is THEIR channel. They have had over 300K views within the last week. so they are doing just fine. If you have issues with not being able to comment then just don't watch.

    • @CCRider5312
      @CCRider5312 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Fit Farmer - Mike Dickson Ok sounds good to me!!!!! If they that sensitive over something that stupid ole trolls says on their channel maybe they shouldn’t have a channel. As you know people are gonna be people & some people are gonna say rude & nasty things from time to time! It certainly wasn’t me I’ve never said anything out of the way to them! All they had to do was block those people leaving nasty comments not everyone! But that’s fine I just won’t watch their channel, I’ll unsubscribe!!! I’m not supporting viewing & helping someone make money that won’t let me comment! TH-cam has millions of channels. I was just trying to give them some good advice their channel in one week has went from 77,000 down to 60,000 subs. That’s fine I will unsubscribe, no sweat off my back. 😉

  • @CCRider5312
    @CCRider5312 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video, great greenhouse!
    Hey I left you a message about the Hollar homestead. Did y’all ask The Hollar Homestead why they got their comments section turned off on their videos? I can’t leave a message on none of their recent videos. I’ve not been able to leave a message since I commented on your video when you went helped them tear walls off. Not since U interviewed them & I left a comment on your video ! I hope they didn’t block me just because I said on your video that I thought from Justin Rhodes video that he had helped them tear off all the walls & I said like Paul Harvey says Now I know the rest of the story! Is that bad enough to get Blocked from leaving comments on their channel??? I’d think not. But if they are blocking all people from leaving comments then they are committing TH-cam suicide by disabling their comments. Maybe they done it by accident? But if I’m blocked over nothing at all I will unsubscribe from their channel! Cause I want no parts of people’s drama.
    So look & see if their comments is turned off & let me know please. If it’s off for you then it’s off for everyone & they need to be notified, because you can’t run a successful TH-cam channel without comments. Or at least a lot of people like myself will not want to stay subscribed to a channel I cannot leave a comment. Thanks

    • @MikeTheFitFarmer
      @MikeTheFitFarmer  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are not blocked. They turned all of their comments off because of rude comments.

    • @CCRider5312
      @CCRider5312 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Fit Farmer - Mike Dickson Wow 😲 Mr & Mrs Dickson don’t they know that’s TH-cam Suicide for their channel?? Mike you need to tell them All they have to do is block the comments on the persons who are leaving the rude comments. Yeah they don’t have to stop everyone from commenting, just block the rude ones. Yeah I have 3 channels I like that are in my state of NC: Justin Rhodes, who I found The Hollars thru, Then Your channel who I just recently discovered thru watching the Hollars when you went to help them. These are the only 3 channels I’ve found on TH-cam so far who are homesteading in my State NC! Homesteading has a special place in my heart & I just love homesteading TH-cam channels. But most of them are outta State & You guys, Justin’s channel & The Hollars are the only ones I’ve discovered in NC so far.
      I’m a Christian man in my 50’s & I’m definitely not gonna leave them a ugly comment. But Mr & Mrs Dickson think about this a min......if im a sub of your channel & I watch ads TH-cam puts up before your videos so you can or any other channel can make money off of........don’t you think 🤔 I deserve to make a comment on your videos? It’s only fair & im not just talking about the Hollars but anyone else that turns their videos comments off. I’m gonna be forced to unsubscribe from their channel if I cannot Make a nice comment to encourage them! Or if I cannot laugh 😆 with them & cry along with them & feel like I’m a part of that channel & friends of the creators! We all work together here! You make the vids, & on all the channels I like I sit thru boring advertisements before or sometimes during videos to help you make money from TH-cam.😁But seriously Not to talk bad about The Hollars by no means, But they only had a couple thousand subs if that many when I subbed. I subbed just as Justin Rhodes introduced me & all the rest of his 550,000 Subs to their channel. And just in about 4-5 weeks the Hollars subs has shot up to 70,000 or 77,000 subs. With that many subs like myself watching all their videos like I have been is making them money from TH-cam!!!!!! Because I know how TH-cam works & channels that close to 100,000 subs start making darn good money 💵. Once you hit 500K & 1 million subs then they start making real serious money. Now I love the Hollars don’t get me wrong by no means, I think Mrs Hollar has the most beautiful smile about everything outlook on life & it’s contagious 😷 & I loved watching because she just brightened my day with her laugh at everything attitude! Kinda the way you do Mike, always smiling 😁ear to ear or laughing 😆! This is what people wanna see on TH-cam, not gloom & doom & all my problems boo hooo & agony on me! You know those kinda people I’m talking about, the drama queens & kings of the universe. Lol 😂
      The people that could use a good dose of Jesus in their lives.
      But anyway back to channels Turning off their comments: Especially a channel where most of their new large surge of subs came over from Justin Rhodes channel & love to leave a comment from time to time. I been on TH-cam many many years from the beginning & my opinion is anyone running a TH-cam channel that turns off their comments is committing TH-cam suicide!!!!! Because subs gonna start dropping off like dead flys on a channel they have no input on at all & cannot feel like a part of that channels creators extended family. After all if it wasn’t for the subs/viewers watching ads, making comments, sharing those videos with other non subs, giving thumbs ups 👍 on videos then absolutely the majority of people wouldn’t make TH-cam videos at all. Why make them if no viewers, and no money? Right? Also TH-cam would be outta business if advertising companies had no format because of no viewers. I guess I’m kinda giving you something to think about too Mr & Mrs Dickson.
      What I’m really getting at is.....Why punish your channels success, why punish the majority of your subscribers from feeling like they really matter(because they do) by closing down all comments to your channel......All because a few rude comments from people with sour attitudes???? I say any channel including The Hollars that gets very rude comments....... Should block that particular person who left the comment.....Not everyone, Not 70,000 + people!!
      A very up & coming destined to be a successful farm channel, It’s Not a Homestead channel. But it’s close to a homestead, it’s a Farm channel on TH-cam.
      Is Josh & his channel is called
      “The Stoney Ridge Farmer”
      He’s also a NC channel. Josh has told it on his channel he says he just blocks the ones who continuously leave rude vulgar comments. He blocks them from somehow from making any more comments. He don’t block every single person on his channel from making comments. Josh has build his channel up & he has probably the same amount of subs as Justin Rhodes does if not more! According to the TH-cam estimates channel they say He’s probably making $350-$400 per vlog that he posts now & he probably does 3-4 vlogs per week. So yes the subs, likes, shares, & comments matter on TH-cam channels!!!!
      I know one TH-camr Making $2000 even $2500 per vlog on every single vlog they put on TH-cam! He’s also doing about 3-4 vlogs per week & He’s making so much money that he’s giving cars & expensive things away for tax write offs! When you start getting several hundred thousand subs you can make a good living. When you start getting millions of Subs your vlogs can really generate quite a bit better than a good living. Like get you wealthy in a couple of years type money!
      I sure hope The Hollar Homestead turns the comments back on & only blocks the rude ones from leaving comments, I sure love & miss Mrs Hollars Cheerful contagious laughter & joyful attitude. It makes me smile & puts me in a good mood! Kinda The way You Mike & your lovely wife do when I watch yall!
      No offense Mike but your wife was drop dead gorgeous when you took her out to eat at that fancy restaurant a few weeks ago with her beautiful long hair let down!!!!! Wow 😲 Hot 🥵 as a firecracker 🧨 The bomb 💣! Lol 😂
      Yeah I see what you seen in her now brother.....
      Woooooooooo Weeeeeeeeeee smoking 💨 Hot 🔥! Also whoever said anything in that video about her weight is a Moron! She’s perfect just the way she is, which is 🔥!!!!!! 😁
      Just nevermind me Mike I’m too old to chase after your wife! Now if I was 15 yrs younger & She was single: then Mike i live in NC & I’d have given you a run for your money buddy! ☺️😊😂
      But (IF) A bullfrog had wings he wouldn’t bump his hind end every time he leaped either! Lol 🤣
      But the way it is she’s married & im old enough to be her daddy, Then Mike I will just call your beautiful wife my TH-cam God Daughter!
      Lol 😂
      I love you guys & what you are doing on this channel with your Gardens & the way you raising your kids to be kind, loving, respectful, responsible, God fearing decent human beings!!!!
      Please keep up the good work. And I promise I won’t send another comment as big as a book 📖 Like this one! Lol 😂👍

    This video is gold! We have Curtis Stone's book The Urban Farmer, which is also a wonderful source for info on microgreens, but this video really addressed the important questions. So many of us starting out need the basics, and this video provides that. Thanks for putting it together and sharing with us. ♡

    Thank you Mike for this video, I've been very interested in micro greens for their nutritional value. Since my husband Michael has been dealing with cancer and we've decided the medical community has really nothing to offer, homeopathic choices are the way to go. That is one reason I enjoyed following your channel I learn so many helpful tips. God bless you and your family, can't wait to see you guys at the Hierloom expo soon😍😇

      Kathleen Perdue, You are on the right path!
      Please, think about distilling your water then add minerals back. Water is life.
      I also use mine to make my own Colloidal Silver. Both of these things are very easy to do, look for beginner's groups (a wealth of generous info).
      I'm a 70 year old Vegan with no health issues & I've not even had a cold in almost 50 years!
      Blessings for you & your family's health 💞👵

    I would like to see her spread sheet we grew n distributed micro greens for 4 almost 5 years and barely would make around 24k a year I find it hard to believe she doesn’t have another income that helps subside her farm income especially growing in greenhouse in winter micro greens dnt do well endless it’s heated greenhouse which then gives you another cost to pay 💰 I would not recommend to start a farm to be profitable at least not rich profitable u might live well n eat good but you can’t buy a lambo

    Very inspiring! We started supplying some vegetables to a local cafe here in Lexington and they have asked us about doing micro greens for them. Jess and I neither one have ever grown them so this was very helpful.

    Mike I really appreciate and admire your positive attitude. So many TH-camrs nowadays are being negative and nasty and putting others down. Making wise cracks about this or that. It’s completely turned me off. I’ve NEVER heard you or Lacey be that way. You’re even out promoting someone who others would see as “competition!” You and your family have such amazing and beautiful spirits. I just wanted to say thank you and not let that part of you, your channel and business go unnoticed!! God Bless you all and please keep doing you!! ~Lisa

    My favorite shows are on TH-cam. I love fit farmer Justin Rhodes art and Bri so the land Roots & Refuge and I really like Cross Timbers. Bison what. I like the arms family Homestead and so many others like deep south Homestead. I raise chickens in Denton North Carolina and before I got sick with cancer and fibromyalgia I had a great big Garden. We live on about 5 Acres and my son is 33 now and he would like to one day come here and have his own son Homestead. Our daughter is 23 and lives in Charlotte. She loves the city life after growing up in a small town her whole life. Lycee your mom was my nieces school bus driver when they were in elementary school at Mount Pleasant. It is a small world. I'm sure I've left some out but I try to watch all the logs that you guys put out because I enjoy them so much more than anything TV has to offer. I spend a lot of time resting these days. I feel like I live vicariously through you and your Gardens and raising your animals. I only have dogs cats and chickens. But I'm nearly 60 years old and not in good health. My husband is 68 and he is not in the best of health either. We are trying to revive our old Greenhouse so that we can grow a small bit of our food again. He spent a long time taking care of me in the last 7 years due to my illness. I miss gardening very much and it makes me very happy to see you all doing such a wonderful job and spreading the word about gardening and homesteading. I remember always pointing out to my husband that way through this or we grew that or these are our eggs and things like that. We butchered a couple of roosters that needed to go because they were very aggressive and wanted to keep attacking my husband and our little small dog. They never bothered the Rottweilers LOL. Keep up the good work and I'll keep watching. I am going to try to get out this year and do a little more gardening. I did grow some herbs and flowers this past summer and I still have oregano from Summers and Summers past. My parsley is on its second year and I dread to see it go because it is the curly parsley and that is my favorite. We had to fence our garden to keep out the chickens. They try to destroy my green beans! I still have seeds that I have saved from those days and I share them with my sisters who also enjoy gardening. They also enjoy your videos. I have learned a lot from you Lacey with your medicinal plants and my chickens seem to love comfrey which I did not know they could have. But now that I know I forwarded for it and I really enjoy it. Keep up the good work stay healthy and fit. I love your family and I pray for you daily. By the way I have a big hickory nut tree that was blown down by storm if anybody's interested in that for heat or barbecue or whatever. We are just a little bit too old and frail to tackle this giant tree. It was full of nuts when the storm blew it down but I would love to see someone have it and use it.

    I tried soil and coco coir and growmats. There was no difference. Microgreens don’t need nutrients because you harvest most of them within a week. Soil is messy and hard to sell at a farmer’s market because you have to cut them and they don’t look nearly as inviting.
