Honestly,..if i was to race this truck,, just by listening to the first revs,, i would put my dodge in reverse and slowly backoff and drive away ;) Now this is a truck that i'd take my hat off to!

Hennessey Performance why would you put the turbos way up front where they could get damaged in a simple fender bender??

@boosted05stang You'd be surprised on how much fluid it actually takes to lock a motor up... You pretty much have to fill it up quickly, most intake routes are to steap for a lot of water to get in

@boosted05stang you ever see some of the big kick*** mud trucks? some have blowers on them even! tons of them have turbos like some mudding sonomas or s10's have the 4.3 vortec turboed to handle the bigger tires and stuff and they do fine

@chatmatchamp No, I havent personally seen them. I do see a lot that run nitrous. My question though is with thw BOV seated right there in the grill, if you forge water or mud and you are getting on and off of the throttle with the BOV opening up to release excess air does the water/mud not rush in and clog it up causing failure to the turbo system? Dont get me wrong I like the idea & love the truck, im just lost to its function in off road action.

@Alarichswiftpaw Oh, ok, Im not sure how you got away with it on a STS tubro system. I just bought a raptor last weekend and have been looking at kits for it. I like the way this one looks and sounds but I dont want to make my truck a highway striclty truck. I love how it handles off road and dont want to loose that feature. I will do more homework and make a choice

@Alarichswiftpaw I got that but its not the motor locking up I was reffering to as much as it is the turbos failing with water/mud clogging the blow off and turbo

it has 810 bhp. loss thru drive train are high because of large tires/ ring and pinion, and 4wd.
If Chevy makes zr2 concept I'd take it over this if not I'd definitely take this velociraptor
So now if you wanted to take the Raptor off road like it was built to do and you hit a nice size water hole/ mud hole how will the turboes and BOV's handle sucking all that up?
with the turbos gathering all that fresh air from the front as well as dual inter coolers? How so?
@Robert Shunk you buy a Raptor for around 40,000 and pay around another 7,000 for them to turn it into a VelociRaptor
@boosted05stang Very lucky. Raptors were designed for dunes and sand, not really "mud an blood" They can do decent in mud. If you have that kind of money I imagine you can switch the tires to mud terrains/swampers, they make all the difference in the world.

I'm no expert, and I'm sure you guys know what you're doing, but is it a good idea having those two intercoolers restricting the air flow to the radiator? not to mention those two red hot turbos sitting just in front of it as well?

Mathew Farry It still restricts the air flow, and puts hot air in between the fins of the radiator. That "used" air wont absorb as much heat from the radiator, thereby making it less effective and increasing the overall heat in the system and the chance of heat related issues. You can't just keep stacking radiators and expect the last ones to get sufficient air flow or cooling.

You have air being pushed through and around the intercoolers plus to fans sucking air at the same time so i really doubt its a issue, not only that its another layer of intercooler not 15 radiators stuck in a row like you talk!

@boosted05stang Eh, I ran a Dakota 4x4 with a sts turbo set up in the mud and I finally sucked in water after going thru a pond. Didn't lock the motor up, but knocking.. so I made a turbo manifold and stuff for it after rebuilding the motor and I've had the truck in water with it up to midway of the windshield and windows... Maybe I was lucky, and yes, after mudding you need to clean it all up. Some get their shit fucked up. If you have any ?'s PM me and I'll gladly answer any.

Yeah nice truck and I'm sure it makes good power. But not liking the setup. If this is just going to be a track/trailer queen then yeah ok. But what's the point in having a VelociRaptor if you can't take it off road, or as mentioned earlier, having to worry about just one small fender bender.

Chevy Does have a car to compete against the raptor. Well its made by GMC but both are GM cars, it's a GMC Sierra All Terrain HD, you can special order it if you want but it isn't out yet or else i would buy it over the raptor. But until then ( if they don't come out with it ) i am going to buy a Raptor though.
Yeah, surely you can relocate some other stuff from the engine bay to the bed and put the turbos further back. What's the point in having a powerful truck like that if you'd have to worry bout running into something

ok im 14 too. now i always wanted one of these trucks to drag race the dick head high schoolers with their "blinged" cars. the raptor pushes 120 MPH stock. upgradeding it turns a animal into a beast. that has to push over 140. ATLEAST 140

well if they are talking about trucks then yes this takes the cake, but if they are saying any, i dont think he realizes hennessy also beefs up the vette which as far as engines go, both are pretty evenly matched but add in the weight to horsepower ratio and the raptor wouldnt stand a chance. but i wouldnt get to fired up about it, hes just some fan boy that thinks he knows everything about anything with a motor.
the chevy offroad hd is chevys comback to this truck, its a beast i'll admit but its desiel, both the raptor and the offroad were trucks to challenge the powerwagon, butt... the raptor is freaken awsome, i feel like its going to be one of thos overrated cars, just saw the need for speed most wanted trailer and it has a raptor beating maseraties and ferrari's, its beast, but its still a truck
