Slash just always comes across as a down to earth dude with time for everyone as long as you're respectful. Friend of mine (been a band mate and heard many inside stories from him) does sound for the pretenders, who did some shows with guns recently. My buddy said he ran into Slash in one of the stadium hallways for the stage (apparently a no no in that circumstance) He politely apologised to Slash and sped up a bit to get out the way, Slash recognised him from previous encounters and stopped him, so he just ended up casually catching up with Slash for 20-30 minutes. 🤣 As a stark contrast, he said any time he ran into the other guys they were always polite, said hi etc etc, every time he saw Axl, he was yelling at someone about something/generally being a *insert word for rockstar with a gargantuan ego here* 😅 This is really cool to hear, just sounds like Slash has always been humble and real, thankfully in far better shape now too. Very very good interview, one of the best I've heard. I still say that the GN'R (partial) reunion is all business. I'm pleased it happened, but no way did they reunite because they missed each other. I saw Slash at Wembley with SMKC and you could see he's ten times happier when playing with them. But that divorce must've hit him hard as from what I've heard, I don't think he did a prenup. So going back to GN'R was a no-brainer as that's the gig that pays the big bucks.

Totally disagree. Slash said in this interview that if he’d had his way, Snakepit would have been the next GNR record. How lame would that have been? Axl wanted to take the band forward. Now we’ve got Slash & Duff playing 2/3 of the Chinese Democracy album on tour and it sounds incredible. THAT should have been the next GNR record. Axl was right. Time has proved that he was usually always right, when everyone else thought he was just being stubborn. If it was up to Slash they never would have done November Rain or Estranged - two of the songs that established Slash as the guitar god of his generation. He should have listened to Axl more.

I remember this time, I was waiting for that new album and it just never came. I finally seen them live for the first time in 2017. I'd love a new record but if it's anything like those new songs that were released I'd rather them just not do it. Hard skool, was the only good song that she like old gunners.

Slash is a sweetheart and very much so a pacifist. The guy just wants to play without any drama associated with it. Axl at the time was a drama making machine, very angry, very sensitive and very volatile. Sympathy for the Devil was the nail in the coffin. Plus as a real horror fan I can understand him not being into the original Anne Rice Film. Axl loved the book and movie though and ultimately Axl gets the last say. The spit in the face was Axl's jerkoff guitarist friend overdubbing Slash's guitar parts. That same jerk trashed Slash during recording for Chinese Democracy and Matt went off on him, and that was his end in GNR. Duff hung around a bit more.

Slash announced he left in October of 96. The cassette is dated 11/8 unless this means August 11th? In the USA 11/8 means November 8th. I don't like how other countries have fucked this up.

Hehe, that's a rather USA-centric view of the world you're presenting there, given that America is the only country in the world who uses this illogical format. But let's not pull that thread too hard - especially as some say you guys originally got it from us. 👀😆😊👊 Yes, since I'm in the UK, the date on the tape does indeed mean August 11. ⏰️ 🤘

Axl singlehandedly tore apart one of the most exciting bands ever due to his ego and little man sensibilities. I lost all respect for him a very long time ago. Slash, and the others, have maintained the respect I once had for the band as a whole. Axl is a whining poser to me, nothing more. It's great to hear thoughts directly from the horses mouth, as it were. Slash has always been cool.

Hated the alternative revolution specially since it never took off or had success like it did in the late or mid 90s. It was a waste that had everyone convinced it would be around for alot longer. But at this period of time one thing was certain - all the alternative scene bands or most of them were alot more sober and with their act together. Axl, his close associates and the record company knew there was alot of competition and that something had to be done to be a step above the game. I dont think Slash had a clue of what was going on at this point. Scott Weiland was kicking these guys asses back in the Revolver days. Theyve been catching up specially Slash and Duff but they should have done this back in the mid 90s- Im sure if that happened this interview would sound different. Its like they used to say "Slash is out of it" lmao
