Yes, Ced. Some years ago I mentioned that China may be the next source of great watchmakers; just like Japan's Hajime Asaoka and Masahiro Kikuno. We're starting to see that in Zehua Tan, Xushu Ma and Lin Yong Hua who created the movements in the video. Take care, Bill
Hi Bill, definitely there are a lot of hidden gems in the AHCI lists, I enjoyed their booth the most in the Basel world days. It is always good to see more AHCI watchmakers. Thanks Bill.
Isn’t the movement based on the Chinese version of the Unitas 6498? As far as I know it is. Anyway nice looking movement and a nice watch. I consider the Dragonfly of LYH as one of my „maybe“ watches for 2023. best regards
Martin, it doesn't look like it to me. I have 2 Chinese SeaGull '6498s' I got to see if I could create a resonance, and they look like the ETA 6498 (see calibercorner.com/eta-caliber-6498-1/) Note how Lin Yong Hua's movement has two additional gears between the winding gear and the barrel. If he did use it as a base, he totally re-geared it. Take care, Bill
Does he have some sort of musical background? I was particularly amused and impressed by a winding click shaped like an eighth note in one of his finely finished movements (pun intended).
Koji, he may have been just lamenting the passing of vinyl records and the analog sounds of a scratching needle. Here's a starting point to learn more about Hua: www.ahci.ch/members/lin-yong-hua/ Take care, Bill
Hi Bill. The first watch was not to my taste, whilst the enamel design that you own is beautiful. Regardless however, no one could deny the quality of Lin Yong Hua's work.
Such beautiful movements...
The "Art" part of watchmaking, Clauber. Take care, Bill
Always fun to hear about up and coming watchmakers.

@@watchartsci I Will be waiting for the next one... Thanks...
Thanks Bill
I'm hoping Chinese watchmaker's get more attention & recognition everyone seems to think all Chinese watches are junk .
Junior, remember when "Made in Japan" meant it was cheap? In time more recognition will come to Chinese watchmakers. Take care, Bill
Benjamin Chee is a surprising creator of fabulous watch brands. And now even a heavy astronomical table clock, take a look. 😮😎
Hi Matti! Benjamin lent me the watches to review, and he's really moving Celadon ahead. Take care, Bill

@@watchartsci you are right! I have mixed up something with the Dragonfly which was based on a completely rebuild Unitas.

Hua's work is clearly that of a master craftsman and watchmaker, Tuna. Take care, Bill
I wonder why part of the pin is sticking out of the strap. Is there an specific purpose to it 🤔
Amatrice, I don't know what you're talking about. Could provide a little more detail ? Thanks, Bill
Are you talking about the quick release strap?
🥃
🤫 ... you're up early. Take care, Bill
