In this video I recorded and edited, I provide clues and early hints that Troy Bradshaw in the original 2006 Saints Row was an Undercover cop before it's eventually revealed at the end of the game.

He still had the saints back tho. In the first saints row 3 mission, a cop on a speaker yells, “Troy can’t get you out of this one”. Implying that he used his power as chief of police to keep bailing the saints out of jail whenever they get arrested.

Troy kept the player alive in saints row 2 probably because Troy is a good guy that wanted to help the person who got dragged into a dangerous gang by getting caught in the cross fire
I think it was because Troy became good friends with the gang even though he was undercover. He offered them freedom if they dropped flags and went clean.
He did the same for Johnny as well, because he knew cops we're gonna try something

yep nearly crossing paths with kings Rollers and Carnales, Troy right off the bat told Julius come on he's just some random guy with no ties to any of this. no need to get him involved while Julius was all we need all the help we can get... Troy was only lookin out 4 him.

Troy is such an exceptional character. It's a crying shame some of the SR1 characters were barely touched on again. In my eyes SR2's biggest flaw is that we never really got significant content with Troy. (That next to the whole Dex thing, of course)
Well, the only ones that got touched was the protag, Gat, tobias,Donnie, and wong guy, damn shame, and legal lee was just in one story cutscene too
Troy either got caught being an informant and died or got out. If he did his job he would have helped arrest the saints permanently after the first game

@@mattreyes4803 actually Troy helps the Saints all the way until they got to steelport, in which his Stilwater influence wouldn't be able to help bail them out of jail repeatedly (or keep them on life support)
Troy literally kept the player alive when he was on life support after the coma.
He offered all the gang members freedom if they dropped flags.
Bar his “shitty haircut” (damn it dex) Troy is one of the most important and best characters

@@JokerSaintsRow AFAIK boss remain neutral to Troy, but Johnny Gat tried to kill Troy when he found out that he is a cop. That's why he is in prison at start of SR2. However through recordings of Troy and Julius dialogue boss will find out that Troy wanted Julius to disband saints as painless as possible, but Julius decided to bomb boss and Troy didn't liked it, but he didn't even arrested him for this though.
I was 14 I didn’t really think he was a cop but he felt shifty to me so I never really trusted him

Troy was a brilliantly written character and is still one of my favourite characters in the game. When I played the game a second time knowing he was undercover it made his cutscenes so much better.

Blame trying to compete w/Grand Theft Auto. Watch Dogs tried the same thing Saint’s Row did, and now they’re goofy too. Thing is, being realistic was GTA’s thing. Now Rockstar is trying to compete with SR with flying cars, and they’re failing at it.

@@redfather5342 Yeah, that didn't exactly raise any red flags to me. If anything it was the safe and easier option. Raiding a police station would not be good for business long term.

And he most important in Saints Row 2 story.
Best cop in the series. In-game, Stilwater PD are just as much of a gang as the gangs themselves. I've seen them beat people for no reason.

In the manual to saints row 1, it's written by an undercover cop that might just be in the saints. And if you look at the Carnales rundown, it's written as "The Los Carnales" (but with "The" scratched out). Now, who else makes that mistake?
I was hoping someone would bring up the manual, that was such a cool addition. God I miss game manuals, they were such a part of the experience and now they're just slips of paper with seizure warnings

Most people forget this, but in the manual for the original game it has a section of the booklet recording a conversation with an undercover Informant who smokes cigarettes and Troy is the only named saint who smokes cigarettes.
Lin does too.

There's another small bit of foreshadowing that's pretty cool.
Only two members of the Saints are seen regularly smoking; Lin, who's undercover in another gang... and Troy, who's undercover in yours.

Probably the fact he called it a "tip" instead of calling it anything else, was the biggest give away of him being a cop.
SR1 fact:
1. Stores close at night in game
2. Your vehicle in a race has a class. Other vehicles will generate the same class of vehicles just different vehicles that are in that class.
3. Julius and Benjamin King are long Time friends
4. The first cutscene in SR1 happened in Harrowgate district.
5. Los Carnales were founded in the 1800's making them the oldest varifed gang in Saints Row.

There was alot of foreshadowing about troy beign a cop, but there's nothing foreshadowing julius and dex betrayal. I'm happy with the direction that the series took but their betrayal didn't make sense imo
I think Julius' did, but Dex had no legit reason to betray the Playa.
Originally Julius’ betrayal wasn’t supposed to be in the game. When I played I barely payed attention to Dex.

This game needs a HD full remaster
Not really. Far more broken than 2nd game and it's much more brighter on X360 version (just like GTA VCS on PSP). On XOX and XSX is silver-ish like many of games.
It'd most likely be a port if Deep Silver hires Double Eleven to release X360 on modern consoles, fix the bugs, optimize the quality and give 60 fps with having all DLC's in (unless that's lost like how Volition magically lost the PC codes making it better than before in patch with never releasing that in public).
They did excellent job unlike Lazystar who couldn't even do it with RDR telling it's far more complicated & broken.
Should have continued the series with the style and story of 1/2 - they absolutely fucked the entire game like it was some kind of joke after that.
Games weren't selling good as gta clones so they had to change it up to escape that stigma and it worked cause 3 sold better.

It's strange that Troy is actually less hateable when you know that he still sides with The Saints in Saints Row 2 as a homie and helps them out during the Saints/Ultor rise to stardom prior to Saints Row The Third.
As for Dex, grrr. While I'm glad they gave us mini revenge in Gat Out Of Hell, I'd love it if they let us take revenge on Dex on an Earthly plane. At least Julius turned up to accept his death with dignity in Saints Row 2.
Lmao calling it a "mini" revenge is giving it too much credit. Literally all they did was take an already textured NPC and slap a hat that looks like dex's on it. Thats it. It was so disappointing. Revenge that leaves you unsatisfied afterwards is not revenge.
@Todes zauberer778 I was mostly referring to the fact that when The Boss shoots Julius against that column in that Greek Theatre. I found that he just retired to his fate. While he did try to explain away his actions, he didn't try anything rash like rush at the Boss or try and grab their gun. That's kinda what I meant by dying with dignity. Suppose it's poetic considering he was once a Vice King.
@@bigboom2438 Agreed. I did find that kind of a cop out. Just having one of the generic ghoals with a purple headband and a couple of voicelines is definitely frustrating. It's kinda why I'm hoping in Saints Row 5 when Earth comes back we can finally get revenge on Dex in the flesh.
Furthermore, I can't remember it well but I'm sure that in one of the Insurance Fraud tasks in Gat Out Of Hell, you actually play as Troy's Ghoal and yet they didn't give him any distinctive features like Dex's headband or even voicelines. Only way I knew it was Troy was because of Jane Austen's narration (which I found rather distracting at times it has to be said. I wouldn't mind if she was a homie that fights but all she does is prattle on. I'm hoping she doesn't return in Saints Row 5 and is killed off before The Saints travel back in time.)

@@xXLoneLoboXx If I remember correctly, yeah, that's right. If it wasn't cancelled; You'd play as a female Ultor Corporate Assassin. It seems that even Ultor didn't want Dex around.
But I suppose if Money Shot was based after Saints Row 2; it would make even more sense for Ultor to turn against Dex as The Saints took over the corporation.
Must admit though, The Money Shot Armour, Hover Bike and Sniper Rifle were great in Saints Row The Third. They should've had Dex involved with the Syndicate, would've been really satisfying to kill him if they had done that in my opinion.

Troy literally loses his shit when Julius planted a bomb on Hughes' yacht just nearly killing the main character. Julius knew the protagonist wasn't going 2 drop his color's so i would assume that was Julius best course of action that later be a fatal mistake in error.
It's very weird that the series went from street gangs to aliens.

I had only been testing the waters to see if trying the sequels were still worth it after finishing the sequel and I saw it too; They jumped a whole goddamn fucking beluga with the other half of the franchise 💀
I couldn't blame Volition though for possibly being pressured to change since its general consensus was that it was a GTA Ripoff which I personally think is total bullshit. That is coming from a big fan of that series.
On the other hand though, I wish they could have kept some integrity to the source material for their future installments. Sucks too that now even GTA themselves has been jumping that crazy shark as well 🤷🏻♀️

Most people would be mad at Troy Bradshaw for being a undercover straight cop, to be honest his heart was in the right place for as loyalty.
Unlike Dexter "Dex" Jackson who quickly switched up on the 3rd Street Saints along with Julius Little.
Proof that Troy Bradshaw is loyal to the saints, complete all rounds of the prison fight club activity.
Even the Stilwater prison guard mentions that Troy Bradshaw will erase your original customizable protagonist's criminal records after helping execute Death Row inmates.
So far he's a man of his word.

It has actually always annoyed me how Troy was pushed more to the side in SR2, not a lot of focus put on him. Always felt there was lot of potential with him in it that they never used. And then he was pushed off completely in SR3.
In the game manual (back when they made those lol) the dev team was creative in explaining the mechanics of the game and the notes on the characters in the format of an undercover cop being interviewed without ever revealing his identity. It got kinda deep how the cop seemed ashamed of some of the things he had to do to earn trust among the gangs.
I had my suspicions that it was Troy throughout the game and enjoyed seeing them confirmed when they showed him looking at his badge in the end.
The biggest reason is that he's based on Paul Walker's character from Fast & Furious
Man the story to these games used to be so good. It was perfectly grounded and by sr2 they had found their semi comedic niche to compete with gta and the devs just completely destroyed it and made it a meaningless madhouse
I think Troy being an undercover cop was actually what made him such a good counselor to Julius.
Julius wanting to work with the Columbians made no real sense, and Troy seemed to be the only one who noticed that. Maybe Julius was losing sight of his original goal because of how the rest of the gang and his time with Ben King had influenced him.
And when he was arrested, talking with Troy made him realise how badly he had screwed over his own goals, and that's what drove him to blow up the Player and the Mayor. He didn't care about saving the city anymore, he just wanted to burn away his mistakes out of shame. What a fucker.
Troy even managed to have pardons prepared for the gang. So he must've convinced the authorities that the gang actually had good intentions; even if he, the traitor, was the only one that actually had those good intentions.
So ironically, the only person that really suited the goals the gang had was an actual enemy spy, and not even the gang's own fucking leader.

Sad thing is, at the time saints row released it was constantly getting bashed for being a gta ripoff but if the creators of saints row had kept their original vision of a gangster/drama game then I have no doubt that they’d be ahead of the competition. It’s sad that they got labeled a gta clone and decided to go off the wayside
Saints Row 1’s models look way smoother and better than 2’s and the game actually rewards you for doing the hitmen activities with OP weapons and not just a homie, money, and respect. You even get zoot suit pants with suspenders!

When I was a kid. This went over my head. Even with the badge reveal. I thought because the Saints ruled the city, he became a police officer on the inside for the Saints.
In one of the Carnales missions when Troy is hot wiring that truck he wants to know so much about, during the shoot out he says "I should've payed more attention when they were teaching hot wiring" and I always thought that was pretty shifty and BOOM he's a cop haha

Im watching this after seeing the new saints row trailer and i cannot possibly comprehend how the series went from this brilliantly written masterpiece to something unrecognisable. The writing for these earlier games were way ahead of there time. From showing the true reality of gang life. From Troy uncovered to be an informant to the player being literally set up by julius which was the darkest plot twist ever. The character development is 11/10. I cant comprehend why they are trying so hard to stray away from such a masterpiece of a series!. RIP Saints Row

One of the prostitute NPCs in free roam asked the player, "Why was Dex hanging around that Cop?". Unless Dex was talking to a different cop then its most likely Troy. What I like about this game is that it has alot of details and story behind its characters. Some of the random NPCs have stories behind them as well.

You'd think someone would normally go 'alright' and not question it or maybe ask once then after getting shot down drop it but he was adamant about knowing what the truck was going to be used for. It just kind of rubs you the wrong way because he's so adamant about it for no particular reason
The character development for King always astounds me
My favorite was when he was talking about how he didn't like Lin going undercover. He said the longer you you hung around with people, the more you started to think like them (almost as if he had some experience).
The only reason why Troy Bradshaw keeps asking about the specific details of Dexter "Dex" Jackson's plan of taking a delivery truck, it's not because he's a undercover straight good cop it's mostly because he doesn't want to go in blind not knowing the mission at hand.

What I want so bad for SR5 is to go back in time to the first game to where everyone is there and we warn the playa about what happens and not to trust Dex, Troy and Julius and save Lin. Then we see what happens in the future

I want two games. The first one is a prequel to Saints Row One about Benjamin King and Julius. The second one is a reboot of Saints Row Three where you travel to a new city and take down Dex.

As somebody who has never played saints row 1, or 3, this was never a twists for obvious reasons but you could imagine how confused child me was with all the references to the first game that I didn't know about.
