65 year old and now seriously considering doing this myself. Thanks. It is really nice to see this when anyone does it but kind of special to me when a mature guy shows that 20 and 30 yr. olds are not the only ones who love this life.
Yea, I think the emotion at the end of the trail really came thru in the video. I really was blown away when she made the banner and waited for me at the end of the trail in Durango. I'll never forget this 💕
Im in need of someone to possibly do a portion of this trail, or connect me to anyone interested. Or, just hookup to ride out there,718 755 4031. Kenny
3 things that matter: 1 - Epic journey, it made me want to do it. 2 - Really excellent filmmaking, Mr. Yates should be very proud. 3 - Totally priceless support from your wife, you are a very, very fortunate man and smart enough to appreciate it. Much respect to all of you.
Right on, brother. I'm a 25 year old southern man that has gotten very much into mountain biking over the past year. You've inspired me to attempt this entire trail - probably in the springtime. Very well done documentary. Thank you my friend.
Thanks so much for this exceptional documentary. I did the trail in 2010 and it is one of the highlights of my life. I took 20 days, 18 cycling and 2 rest. Your story brings it all back to life for me.
Thanks for the comment. It took me 20 days in the saddle and 8 overnights on the trail. I'm sooooo glad my wife agreed to shuttle me to many of the trailheads.
What a great story and adventure. I really enjoyed your journey. I'm 64 also and fixing to leave out on an 1100 mile fatbike tour through Texas. It's nice to see another adventurer my age. Thanks for sharing your story and all the best, Tony
Dave please make a video on how you prepared in more detail. Equipments, your bike, navigation etc. what you took with you that was absolutely needed and things you could’ve done without. Anything you need to do for safety? Wild animals? Thanks
Scenery aside, with your passion, camera skills and the information you gave, regarding elevation and burning calories, this is a top class video, with a great adventure thrown in there, really enjoyed it. I commented half way through and now having watched more it just got better and better, some of your cinematography work is outstanding, that bit about God drawing and then what you did, wow. Thanks for the inspiring video.
Thank you for the comment. Davis Yates, a 19 year old filmmaker flew the drone and did all the editing. He deserves the credit for creating this great video.
My Uncle Jim, who lived in Colorado, told me every time he would visit that I MUST see Colorado! Year after year I heard this as a kid. 25yrs+ later I went to Colorado. While Uncle Jim had long passed away, he was SO right! The beauty at times almost brought me to tears. Awesome job on this Documentary. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Your outlook is Awesome!
Oh wow! At 60 you did this? I am barely 50 and in pretty good shape, I can't imagine of doing this alone!! Go Dave!! You are a rock! Amazing footage and just spectacular views!!! Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks you! Davis Yates, who lives in my neighborhood (19 years old) rode with me on some of the segments and flew the drone and took the spectacular shots you see in the video. He's a great young cinematographer who put this video together.
David, I am so proud of you! My husband and I watched this twice. I haven't seen you since you were, uh, 14? We sort of grew up together, as cousins, my last name Deem like our Grandma Pearl. I used to come to visit your sister and your house full of family! I am so very proud of your accomplishment. I am going to show this to my children.
Hi Carolyn - been a looong time for sure. So good to hear from you. Do you still reside in Indy? You probably know Donna passed away last year after a long fight with cancer. Winnie is 91 and going strong, still living in her own house. I hope you and your family are doing well. BTW - how did you ever come across this video?
@@davebaumann5567 , I am friends with Ken, Linda, Shelia and Charlie on Facebook and Ken had posted this video. My family moved to Brown County when I was in 4th grade, I bet you just don't remember coming down there. I may even have old pictures of visits! I married a Brown County man and we have 4 sons. We still live in Brown County on a hill with one of the best views in Indiana! I did know about Donna and was saddened by her passing. She fought long and hard. I talked with your mother recently and it was a good talk. She is a spry lady for sure! I enjoyed our talk a lot! It is good to hear from you! You know, WE are the old ones now. :)
Awesome video. Appreciate your gracious perspective on things....appreciation for God's creation, your wife, and the gift of being able to do something like this. Enjoyed watching very much
