Arctic Post Road - Bikepacking Adventure in the Far North

- Arctic Post Road film documents the bikepacking adventure of Henna Palosaari and Sami Sauri above the Arctic circle. The Arctic Post Road bikepacking route follows the remnants of the old Copenhagen-Alta post road starting from the fells of Pallas-Ylläs national park in Finnish Lapland and runs through the Finnmark highlands all the way to Alta on the Arctic Ocean.
The route crosses a wilderness area that is three times the size of Belgium and one of the last remaining wilderness areas in Europe . This gravel bikepacking film showcases the beauty and harshness of the area.

I went to Alta two months ago and there was a man who cycled from Lisbon to Nordkapp. He was 4 months on his way. Then there was this girl who was from Slovenia and she cycled from Helsinki to Nordkapp. They met there and started talking and I believe they later left together.
The best part of bikes they bring people together 👏🏼👏🏼

@@mpkarlin It's not easy filming a cycling adventure. Great first attempt! - How did you keep up with the riders in such remote conditions? Were you on a bike too? And how long did the edit take, it's beautifully done.

The film was awesome! Thank you for sharing it. I would've liked to see more of the norwegian side of the trip but was glad to see parts of the route to Näkkälä because we had to skip it due to issues with my bike and that part of the route was in extremely bad condition in July.
We rode the mountain bike route in July 2022 and made a film as well (1h 30min) of our journey. I'm not a professional in editing and it shows. 😀 Our gear was two cheap-ish fatbikes loaded with food for the whole week and gear for possible weather changes in the highlands. Our bikes weighed about 40kg's per bike and that made the uphills unnecessarily brutal.

That is an outstanding and beautiful movie. I have been truly amazed. A fantastic adventure, the one I have been dreaming for some time now. I do cycle every day, in London, I commute to and back from the office, more or less 30 km daily and always have this wish to be able to do it without all those cars, trucks, traffic, green, red lights … it must have been an amazing experience for you Henna and Sami. Thank you for uploading this movie.

on my way to Nordkapp on my bicycle I stopped at the same hotel-restaurant, they made me two big sandwiches, no supermarkets from Kautokeino to Alta. I remember the big dog outside.

What is most impressive is the fact each maintained such a positive outlook in the face of difficult conditions. I would be concerned about braking down . . . in the middle of nowhere.

Really cool that you are having an adventure in the least known/visited parts of Norway. Tourists usually stay along the coast, not often you see people doing adventures deep in the Arctic "vidda".
