    You can buy the whole housing with thermostat in it too.

    @ EssMotorsports did you get any "check engine” light on when you turn on the engine during winter ?

    • @EssMotorsports
      @EssMotorsports  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, the 180 thermostat was warm enough that it never threw any codes related to the engine not coming up to temp.

    I’m gonna change the whole assembly. It’s about 40 bucks more and you don’t have to worry about leaks.

    • @EssMotorsports

      Probably out the cap. Should be fine as you will probably have to add some more anyway once it sucks some coolant in

  • @Cembruh
    @Cembruh 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why did you add water before refilling the coolant?

    • @EssMotorsports
      @EssMotorsports  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The coolant i have is concentrated so u need to mix it 50/50 with water. A more precise way would be to measure it out in a separate container with equal parts water and coolant. I always buy the concentrated because its cheaper.

    How did know you needed to change your thermostat? Did your temp gauge read zero?

    • @EssMotorsports
      @EssMotorsports  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, I change thermostat to a colder rating. It was working fine when removed.

    • @Jonesjc219
      @Jonesjc219 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mines is doing that. Seen on the forum that dexol coolant leaves a coating or residue on it causing it not to work properly. Change that and the sensor and you should be good.

    Whats the purpose of the 180 over stock? Also how much coolant was lost when you removed the housing?

    • @EssMotorsports

      Keeps engine cooler making it less prone to detonation and having the ecu remove timing.

      @matrox I bet it does u just don't know it. These lt1 engines with high compression are very detonation prone. Computer retards timing all the time in the background if your logging data

    • @mkat_551

    • @EssMotorsports

    • @EssMotorsports

      No u should not have too. But... to get the most out of it a tune with adjusted fan on Temps would keep Temps down in town when airflow is lower.
