Hi Phil, Gail was only saying yesterday when we were packing to return home that our drains need cleaning as they are smelly. Watching this has given me a push 😁. Cheers Rob 👍
Hi Rob n Gail. Yes I was a little shocked at the muck that came out of the pipes. So glad I did it in the end. Thanks Phil.🙂👍
For blocking the drains, I use a couple of Champagne style corks. Using sandpaper to narrow them slightly, I made sure they were a tight fit. The beauty of Champagne corks is the rounded top makes a great handle to both push them into the pipes and pull out again. Obviously, they must be real cork not plastic.
Hi Graham. This sounds like a good idea. I'll keep an eye for some corks. Thanks Phil.🙂👍
Thanks for another useful tinkering video. There’s always something to tinker with in the caravan!
Made your point, I'm off to the caravan to clean the drain pipes. Thanks for sharing
Hi Mark, I guess you've not cleaned them for a while🤔. Thanks Phil👍🙂
Hi, for cleaning our drains we use soda crystals which are cheap and completely safe to use. I slowly poor the crystals in to all of the drains and then add hot water then leave over night at least, using a setup as you did to hold back the water so as to soak pipes. Works a dream.
Hi Paul. Yes soda crystals are great. I would normally use them but as you saw on the video our pipes were quite bad this (My Fault). In future it will be crystals for me. Thanks Phil.🙂👍
Strong short piece of Velcro could be used to secure the door fly screen to not have any bracket visible, industrial takes 7kg weight!
Hi Gary. Good idea but the back of the frame is not flat it is recessed. I will come up with a better idea at some point. Thanks Phil👍🙂
Cheers Phil, cleaning the drains is something I have never done in the caravan, but after seeing what came out of your drains I think that’s a job I will do at the end of the season, and our fly screen on the door keeps coming out of its bottom track, not sure if something has broken off it or not, so if you have any suggestions for that I would appreciate it, thanks again Phil, 👍👍.
Hi BB. The screen clips could have broken at the bottom. Have a close look. This may at least help understand your problem. Thanks Phil.🙂👍
@@lostweekendscaravan ok thanks Phil.
Brilliant video and grateful for all these tips. Colour of that water convinced me that I need to jump on it with mine.
Interesting video, as a new caravan enthusiast it was a very enjoyable watch
New sub here!
Hello and for subscribing I hope you find my videos useful. Thanks again Phil.🙂👍
Thanks again Phil for another brilliant video, will certainly be buying Elbow Grease to clean the pipes and the other solutions were great and easy to do 👍
Thanks Joe. My van is starting to show it's age a bit now so it needs more TLC. Thanks Phil.🙂👍
That's good stuff that elbow grease gonna get some of that and do ours. There is no smell but just to give it a good clean anyway. Thanks for the tinkering vlogs, they are very informative and helpful 👍🏻
Hi Phil. It does work. Like Paul said not the kindest thing but if it really bad like ours was then it will do a great job in less time. Thanks Phil.🙂👍
Some great info shared Phil 👍
Thanks Colin and well done with your 100,000 views. Thanks Phil.🙂👍
Thanks for the video! 👍😃
My pleasure! Simon. I try to help as much as poss. Thanks Phil.🙂👍
Hi Phil. Great video. Like the fix on the blind mate. Not to sure about the fly screen. Like you said, it's out the way and not really going to see it. Wow dirty pipes. I'm off to B&M 😅 Cheers Paul and Sarah
Hi Paul. Yes the fly screen fix may be changed soon but I am away and needed a quick fix solution. Minging pipes is not nice. Thanks Phil🙂👍
Have you tried the heavy duty velcro it could be stuck behind and pressed onto the wall if you didn't want to use screws just a thought
Hi Paul I tried heavy duty double sided adhesive pads and other similar things. They will not hold it due to its weight and the vibration caused when towing. This was my final solution. Thanks Phil.🙂👍
Great vlog as usual Phil !
Must dash ….. off to B&M !👍🏻
Thanks Howard. home bargains is much better, Cheers Phil🙂👍
My mistake Phil - I meant Home Bargains but just been looking at B&M website !
Great tips as always !!
Weather permitting there's a 'tinkering' day planned today so this is timely. 👍
Hi Martin. I am looking out my window as I type and garden is very wet. I hope it better where you are. I will be confined to the garage today. Thanks Phil.🙂👍
Is it ok to use screws in caravan walls? Do you need to look for any solid surface behind the wall at all?
Hi Good Question. The walls of my van are resin not wood. Swift seem to screw into it without hitting the spars but only on lighter items. Hope this makes sense. Thanks Phil🙂👍
