Getting goosebumps watching this, the nostalgia. I played this for hours upon hours, this was seriously a gem for its time. All the memories, the good times and the adrenaline in between matches.
This is the best madden that there ever was as far as smooth gameplay and game physics.

The evolution of Madden from 2001 to 08 was legendary. Each on of those Maddens bought something new and innovative to the game

The real life highlights of players in the menu screen was so underated i would watch it for 10 min before jumping in the game..also using the hitstick in the rain you would hear a loud thunderstorm would get me hyped asf

I was never a Madden pro but this was my first Madden game ever and man it brings back memories. My friends hated playing me. I'm a dirty bird so I used to run like hell with Vick and no one could stop him. Used to make people so mad. 🤣🤣

Madden NFL's best era undoubtedly are from 1993 all the way to 2011 with Madden 12 on all versions. Too bad Madden went forever downhill since Madden NFL 13 when they permanently removed 250 FEATURES FROM ALL OLDER MADDEN TITLES.... RIP JOHN MADDEN...😭

The tempo and movement of the players feels much better in this compared to any of the maddens made on the new gen. I hate how i feel like everything is slowed down to be made more cinematic in the new games. Also the running animation looks more lifelike here as well

No surprise: NFL made a massive mistake with exclusive licenses. Quality doesn't matter. The fans sure as hell don't. All that matters is the inevitable green they will make because their product is all NFL gamers have, and they don't need to put anything resembling quality in the game anymore, thus saving EA and the NFL even more money.
I had Madden 2005 when it first came out. Ohh, how i miss this game, the nostalgia 😢. I think i will purchase it again.

PS2 is the best era. Tekken Tag 1, Tekken 4, Tekken 5, Def Jam Fight For NY, Max Payne 1 & 2, God Of War, Grand Theft Auto Vice City, Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, NFL Street 2, NBA Street 1 & 2, Smackdown Here Comes The Pain, Smackdown Shut Your Mouth, Smackdown vs Raw, Madden games, NBA Live games, & more. Yes the PS2, GameCube, OG XBOX, Dreamcast era was definitely the best in gaming. Hands down. Sure we have better graphics and power, but in terms of fun, charm, replay value, & most of all ACTUAL COMPLETED GAMES....NO DLC....yes PS2 era is the best in gaming.

All you have to do is throw the hail mary or steaks to the o receiver, and you will score in one drive almost every time.

For me, this was the beginning of the end for Madden. The player movement, where the players move like box cars and terrible pass trajectory, made it unplayable. It was a significant step-down gameplay-wise from the previous Madden. Thus, EA bought out the NFL license because they knew 2K football was a much superior game. If NFL didn't purchase the license, 2K would have taken over the NFL games by 2007, similar to what they did with NBA games.
Fun fact. The nfl actually asked EA if they wanted the exclusive rights as 2k pissed off the nfl for releasing nfl 2k5 for $20. Nfl hated that their premium brand was being sold for shovelware price. EA gobbled up that offer.
I loved madden at this time but I can deny 2k had something special brewing and the presentation hasn’t even been close to replicated. It pains me to not know what a modern nfl 2k game would be like as madden has been awful since the 360 era.
With that said 2k also bought the MLB license and messed that up something horrible while ea had still what some consider the best baseball game to date ever made at the time. Exclusivity really hurt the consumer in an awful way
@snc237 2k half time show was incredible. Imagine what they could do with that 18 years later. One can dream
@@joshjohnson2753 their nba and nfl titles were very comparable quality wise at the time. I’m assuming nfl 2k23 would be on par with the nba series and we k ow how well that is currently.
@snc237 True, which still seems like a massive upgrade to the madden that we keep getting. Haven't played any beyond an hour or 2 since like 2015. Monopolies ruined what could have been, I think leaving it open would have forced both EA and 2k to continue to improve to try and best the other. After getting the exclusive license, EA almost immediately stopped innovating, and 2008 was really their last good game.

Did anyone ever block a punt, FG or XP against cpu on ps2? I've Never seen video of blocked kick on ps2 console vs cpu.
I had a few blocked punts but they were on their one yard line. I played madden 04-07 endlessly in the ps2 era and only saw like 2 blocked field goals all together.
Didn't the browns have timeouts to use at the end? Also, Browns would have won if they made two field goals early on.. first two drives I think..
