    Heck yeah!! Been thinking about this build lately, glad you have been able to get some work done on it!

    I like the videos. I didn’t document my build in videos. You make a rear 4 link look really achievable for the ‘guy who doesn’t know what they’re doing.’ I appreciate the time you took to explain a lot and document a lot in this build and you seemed to be confident with your decisions and never got angry.

    I’d make one change from your fantastic build. Let me say first, my son and I are going to build a couple of rear coil setups one day for our XJ’s. This XJ series you’ve made is a fantastic guide of what we’ll need to be ready for, thank you for that.
    What I’d change, so the frame stiffeners being L shaped, and the two backing plates for your ‘through frame tube’….. I’d have complete the U across the entire section of inner unibody rail instead of two plates. I’ll probably make another cardboard mockup for the top curve and tube holes, then cut it from a large section of
    And finally I can’t wait to see your rear wheels tucked to help us decide if we should cut quite as much away.

    Any updates on the clearance of the tires front and back or a walk around of it after its been on the trails. Like what you would do differently next time kinda stuff

  • @paulscomedyclips

    I've heard guys talk smack about the clearance of the sterling, I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts!

    • @MuddyBeards4X4
      @MuddyBeards4X4  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's a low hanging piece of iron. I'm sure it will be a rock anchor. I think the strength benefit out weighs the clearance. Besides just got to keep tires on the rocks not the diff lol

    It looks great, but why not paint the underside of the body before you did all that?

    So, when you get finished, with this build, what park and or what trail will you be seeking revenge on?

    Awesome walkthrough! I did have a question? What are your plans for the gas tank?

    • @MuddyBeards4X4
      @MuddyBeards4X4  ปีที่แล้ว

      Pulled the tank. Going to run stock tank in the back of the rig. Built an enclosure around it. May go fuel cell but either way there is no room for it now

    How did you obtain the 83” width? What size offset on wheels?

    What is the reason for the horizontal orientation of the frame side upper control arm heim joint?

    • @MuddyBeards4X4
      @MuddyBeards4X4  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Being vertical it can accommodate a wider range of upper triangulation. Also packages better with the short "frame" of the XJ

    How does your diy gas tank still fit with the rear coilover setup?

    • @MuddyBeards4X4
      @MuddyBeards4X4  ปีที่แล้ว

      It fits in between just fine. It's actually narrower then the un rails

    What did you use to seal the axle shafts to the hub?

    • @MuddyBeards4X4
      @MuddyBeards4X4  ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a seal on the back side of the flange

    • @autotek7930
      @autotek7930 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Muddy Beards 4X4 I've always used ultra black or gray silicone coz every surface I've ran across in my repair career had been way less than perfect. I now have my own 2000xj and writing on my 4.7l stroker engine to be built and delivered then I'll be trying my hand and recording videos and doing recoveries with zero experience, I've only fixed stuff in the past but man do I love upgrading my xj lol

    • @MuddyBeards4X4
      @MuddyBeards4X4  ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately no videos. I did get the gears set up in the front axle. I need to gather a few parts and I should be able to install it. Hopefully soon it will be out of the garage

    Hey bud, did you have to do anything to service the powerstop brakes, or were the pistons already greased inside? I ended up getting that same kit for my build, just curious if they're good to go or need anything before running them.

    • @MuddyBeards4X4
      @MuddyBeards4X4  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good to run. I just added a little caliper grease to the sliders and bolted up
