    I don't think I've ever been more excited for a book! I have breaking the pattern and it's such a good book so this was on my radar, but seeing it in the flesh makes me want it even more! Thanks for the detailed review, so helpful to see the different sections and all the patterns ❤️

    Not so sure about this one. I have the Palmer Pletsch fitting books for fit and I bought the 'Breaking the Pattern' book when it was released but didn't make anything from it. Unless you're going to make a lot of the patterns (which clearly I didn't) pattern book are a pretty expensive way to sew.

    • @Hide_and_silk
      @Hide_and_silk 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm guessing that it will also be based on a B cup block...?

    • @janettechapple6542
      @janettechapple6542 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I feel the same way, but I would make quite a few of these garment. I like the Palmer Pletsch fitting book, but this is a good ‘hand holder’ for people new to fitting and pattern work. Plus, for the price point, this was a good way to get the patterns.

      @@molly_sewsmolly_sews8477 Thanks. I hadn't seen that. It is so useful to be able to print just the size wanted even if we do have to put all the pages together. It beats tracing. I keep wandering to a different line and, consequently, waste the tracing paper!

    This looks good if you can’t get Fit for Real People where the fashions are a bit dated and it is hard to get now. However if you can get FFRP do, as it is genius.

      @rhonddalesley 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree and have several from their FFRP range because they’re sooo good and I can’t recommend them enough! I’m not sure where you are but I’m in the U.K and had no problem picking any of them up from both eBay and Amazon where there were lots of each at really good prices

    • @jeanninelevostre6039
      @jeanninelevostre6039 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I agree. In this day and age it is so disgusting that these sewing books are not size inclusive. But hey ho, they don't want fat people's money so it allows us to save it and spend it on things that are actually worth while.

    • @JaylieysNails
      @JaylieysNails 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@jeanninelevostre6039 suppose you are right. My money goes to size inclusive indie pattern makers. Thank god they exist. Fibre mood is also pretty good with sizes

      Mmm. When I started sewing again I remember being so disappointed at being sized out. I wonder if all the patterns are crafted for a B cup? I'll give my $$ to companies that draft for my shape.

    • @CazPiranha
      @CazPiranha 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yup. To be expected from Named. But still really frustrating. They could at least offer the patterns with a digital code, if they want to try and claim making the printed pages inclusive is cost-prohibitive.

  • @CazPiranha
    @CazPiranha 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Oh look. Max size 22. What a surprise from Named 🙄

    • @janettechapple6542
      @janettechapple6542 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      But the instructions are in the book for increasing and decreasing circumference and length. I used to be outside a lot of the size ranges in Indie patterns so I understand how you feel. But equally, when patterns are graded up and down, things don’t always work and need to be changed. Eg, raising the back on trousers, sorting armholes because they are huge... it’s rare to find a pattern that fits, straight out of the pattern packet whatever the size range.

    • @CazPiranha
      @CazPiranha 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@janettechapple6542 not much use for folks who are a size 30. Named have *some* patterns which they’ve released in a better size range. They could’ve done the same for the book. Fat folks don’t expect things to fit out the packet anymore than thin folks, but at least having our sizes graded for helps.
      It’s fine. We get to use pattern companies who want out money & are committed to inclusion.
