With over 30 years experience as a professional artist doing work for major publications, comics, portraiture, corporate graphics, etc I have used traditional media and now the latest digital media for my projects. I remember when graphic pen displays were the newest technology and only worked kind of well...sometimes. It was a hit or miss with them back then. Then Wacom came along with a fantastic product that actually worked. So I became a Wacom guy. A few years ago I ordered a Huion 16 inch pen display and loved it. I wanted the larger display, but I ordered the smaller one just in case the quality wasn't up to my standards. I didn't want to waste more money than necessary. It was GREAT. So I then ordered a 21 inch pen display from Huion and it was as good or better than my Wacom. I have used Huion exclusively since then and have no plans to change. The color gamut is excellent. The responsiveness of the pen is excellent. I can honestly say that Huion is, in my opinion, better than any Wacom display or any other brands of display that I have ever used. Why pay twice the price for the Wacom brand name on a display when the Huion is much less expensive and works equally as well, if not better. I prefer the way the pen feels on the Huion to the Wacom. It feels like I am actually drawing on paper. I also love the felt tip nibs for the pen. The felt tip nibs on the pen will give you a totally different experience. Also, I prefer the larger displays because I tend to draw and paint with larger sweeping arm motions. The larger screens give me that freedom. I'm not a TH-cam influencer or an artist you may have heard of before now. I am an artist with nearly 4 decades of experience ranging from animated features, to large advertising projects, to illustrating graphic novels. I send my time in the actual work trenches and I must have a dependable pen display to create my work on. Huion provides me with that peace of mind. I am happy working daily with Huion displays and my clients are always happy with the results. That is my honest review from someone who is not sponsored by Huion and did not receive a display for review.

@@VedranKlemens The Huion Kamvavs Pro 24 is silent. I spend hours each day using my Huion Pen display. I publish a magazine for professional magicians. Unless Huion takes a drastic down turn in their quality I will never go back to Wacom again. I own 4 Huion displays and love each of them. A couple of them I have had for at least 5 years and have never had an issue with either of them. As far as screen image quality goes, I can see no real differences in the Wacom and the Huion. I really do think this hits the sweet spot for those people wanting the Wacom 24 Pro but don't want to pay that price. Huion did a really good job with price and value/performance relative to the Wacom 24.

Yeah, this reminds me of when the Ugee 1910B was still being made. 19inch drawing monitor for only $325 (this was back in 2017!) which cost the same amount as buying an Intuos Pro Tablet. While the 1910B wasn't perfect for color the fact that it was nearly 1/6th the price as the Wacom 21inch Monitors and about 75% the quality really made it a no brainer. I don't use any screen protectors, but I haven't had any issues with scratching the screen. Though, I do tend to use a pretty light touch when I paint. Sadly no help on the stand--the one you see me using is a little drawing board I made myself (because I've struggled to find the exact sort of stand that I want). So yeah, triangle chunk of wood is a good idea! :)
lol I love it. But it's kinda fair. I can't tell you how many times I've been prevented from painting because of driver issues breaking pressure sensitivity, losing my settings, etc. Nothing at all with huion so far!
Hi Noah, tell me please, do you work in sRGB or Adobe RGB color space? I'm looking for new monitor and can't decide, should I pick sRGB or go wide gamut.
Get whatever you can afford. Sure, more colors are better. But at the same time, people are probably mostly viewing your art on their phones or mediocre monitors. Realistically, it doesn't matter _that_ much.
looks amazing :) yeah, more figures, portraits, especially if you can combine them in scene with amazing landscapes, environment, keep em coming if you enjoy doing 'em ^^
How is the initial activation force? I have an older huion and it's legit on par with wacom sensitivity wise but I tried one of their newer ones and you have to press super hard to get a line
I always draw very very lightly and it seems to work well for me, at least. I can't really quantify it but I certainly don't feel like I have to press hard at any point to use it. :)
Appreciate your review man, I been looking at as much reviews as I can about this tablet versus Wacom 24 pro. You are the first tho who claims to like huion more tho. A couple others have said that huion is nice but that if they had to choose, Wacom would still be their main choice for this size of tablet. The dead pixel thing is definitely a new thing I’m hearing about tho with Wacom.
Huh, I'm kinda surprised. I suspect a lot of people are really used to the Wacom brand and stick with it out of habit. I don't really see any disadvantages to the Huion. It's a great tablet.
I’m looking for something that can be used to trace something out of a bunch of layers. Can you please recommend either this product or another that can help me pull images out of a mess and trace the image on a screen? Thanks 😊
Question to anyone who has this drawing monitor, does your pen PW517 activate when you grab the pen lightly and only use the weight of the pen to leave a mark? I have a very light touch and after switching from Wacom Intuos Pro, I'm noticing that the pen sometimes doesn't register my strokes with the very light touch. This is the only flaw with the drawing monitor I have so far, and I am trying to figure out if my pen is faulty or is it simply not as sensitive as wacom's. Thank you!
I think it’s just not as sensitive with the initial touch, I don’t know why they did that on the newish tablets and then made it better with the newest 27 and 19 inch version, I would change your pressure sensitivity and try that out but, I can still draw very lightly with no issues but I can’t drag just the weight of the pen and make a line.
What's your current brightness and contrast with this display? Also great review, I have one myself. And it always reassures me to see people say this is still a good product to have.
I've got brightness at 100 and contrast at 57. That combined with whatever tweaks I made to the gamma and color correction seems to have gotten all my colors into the right ballpark. :)
lol yeah good tip! Once you haver installed the drivers and they work leave it alone and never touch them again!! Good to see you doing ok and I hope your neck problem is long gone! Best wishes dude! :)
Haha it's really the only way to deal with Wacom drivers. I'm so used to being diligent about updating software, drivers, etc. but with them.... never. It always screwed me over trying to stay up to date on them. And thanks! I'm dealing with a lot of nerve issues still and have a lot of physical therapy ahead of me, but I'm doing muuuuuuch better than I was.
whoa! i was about to get Wacom 24 inch the 2,000 dollar one not the one with touch screen don't need that, but i came across your video, now im debating on which to get, i was told that huion on 4k its only 8 bit not 10 bit like wacom, touch choice i have to make, does your wife like her wacom 32 inch on what she think about the huion? just trying to make up my mind, i use wacom intous pro right now im new to 3d art, will be using it with photoshop zbrush and maya.. but yea i need to get it soon as soon as i get my mind made up, i was a web developer but want to change careers as 3d artist
I don't know about the 8bit vs 10bit but I can't say I've ever been impressed with the color reproduction on Cintiqs. I always find them a bit too muted and dull. My wife does like her Cintiq but it's currently suffering from a lot of dead pixels after just a couple years of use. And aside from the size advantage I think that she'd probably lean towards using one of these instead if she had to choose again. She's definitely looked over at this thing jealously from time to time. :) Not sure if that helps but good luck!
@@TeamBradley Thanks a lot Noah! i think i might go with the huion 24, dead pixel is no good especially at the priced the wacom 32 cintiq is. you should do more videos using your huion.. i been debating on which to get for a month now, i been suing my wacom intous pro in meantime . if you happy with the huion must be that good. i hear people be sandi of their nibs on huion 24 pro whats all that about ?
Hello Noah, I had a question regarding my pressure sensitivity for my kamvas pro 24 4k pen. In the driver settings where you can test pressure levels, it displays the strokes just fine. i.e little pressure thin line and a lot of pressure thick line. But this doesn't work well in photoshop. I turned pressure levels on in brushes settings but still it doesn't work as well as in the drivers. any suggestions
Hmmm, I'm using CSP these days, so I can't be a huge amount of help (CSP lets you fine tune the pressure curves in there as well). Does it not give you any pressure sensitivity at all? If not, there's definitely something wrong and I'd get to googling. Good luck, hate problems like that!
Is the surface between the screen and pen thin enough for you? and how low does the brightness go? Can you work on white in the dark without blowing your eyes out?
It seems really close to me. Definitely haven't felt an issue there. And it seems like it could go dark? But I... Tend to not paint in a perfectly dark room?
Hello. I have some crazy bad latency with mine. The mouse cursor is so laggy. The lines I draw are lagging behind the pen by a lot and Im drawing them slowly. What cables am I supposed to connect to my pc? just the Hdmi to hdmi to the back of my computer? Plz respond quickly good sir. Im returning this soon.
First i want to say really nice video, i really liked how you reviewed the device. I recently got the Huion Kamvas 24 (4k) and the only problem i have is the calibration of the display the colours look to bright and the red seems way too bright. I was wondering how you calibrated the display like what did you do first and how?
First I did the windows calibration and got the brightness/contrast set on the device. Then the gamma to tweak the values. Then finally bumped that color balance until I got a nice neutral gray. The windows color calibration thing is pretty good and easy.
Eyeballing it based on some of my paintings, mostly. :) I've got a pretty good idea for what the values and colors should look like that they make it pretty easy to calibrate based on them.
Good shit, dude. Thanks for doing the review; I needed to pick up something like this anyway, so I'll probably just go ahead with the purchase. Hopefully this is an affiliate link that kicks something back your way. Good luck with everything, especially the recovery that you're going through right now.
Thanks so much (and thanks for using the affiliate link)! I hope you love it as much as I do-you'll have to let me know how you like it. And thanks, recovery is on track so far! It's amazing to feel myself getting a little better every day.
I ll buy the 16 inch 4k version the 24 inch is sadly a bit out of my price range, but thank you for the review it gave me a good insight on how Huion compares to Wacom.
Thanks, Noah! I have the 2nd gen 21UX Cintiq. I bought it way back when for the full $2K price. (Argh) I really like it, especially with the "Flex" nib, but it does have serious limitations. The color gamut is something like 60% Adobe RGB (!), and although my big use is comics inking, it would be nice to have color performance somewhere in the ballpark. And of course, the resolution is very low. But the worst thing about it is that it is no longer supported, at least for Windows. So there's a good chance Windows 11 may break it. Not only is the Huion model here less expensive, the stand for it presents an even greater disparity: $50 vs $300! I would _need_ a stand, so that's important to me. Like you, I also prefer to use a keyboard and usually have it directly in front of me, between me and the tablet monitor. So if I live long enough and I need a new screen tablet, the Huion looks like a great choice. Thanks for your review! (And your Demoness/Vampire, too.)
You're so welcome, hope you love it if you do end up getting one! I've always been disappointed by the colors on any cintiq I've used. I've probably been spoiled by good monitors but it's a damn shame that a company making devices for creative fields wouldn't try a little bit harder to get their colors a fair bit better.
The thing about getting a review copy is not about you being super biased, it's about you not having the pressure of having spent a dime on the product. So you may innately and subconsciously diminish some criticisms.
Mixed thoughts. It looks great and is very tempting, but I have problems buying from a Chinese company right now--mixed feelings on that as it is a complex issue. I have three good friends from China, who have family back in China, and boycotting China hurts their government far less than it hurts regular people. But China's aggressiveness and human rights abuses (which my friends do not support) make it a difficult decision. But, dang, that Huion Kamvas does look like a great product. My Wacom tablet is ancient and I probably should replace it. Sorry for the ramble. Trying to talk myself into getting a Huion.
I understand those feelings! Nobody like supporting authoritarian regimes. But yeah I figure the same thing, that in purchasing from these companies we're helping the employees of those companies a fair bit. Maybe doesn't always work out that way, but we can hope. I do love the tablet though. They're making a fantastic product!

One of the biggest reasons I use Huion over any Wacom product is driver issues.
lol I love it. But it's kinda fair. I can't tell you how many times I've been prevented from painting because of driver issues breaking pressure sensitivity, losing my settings, etc.
Nothing at all with huion so far!
can you please tell use your canvas settings such as resolution and dpi?
Hi Noah, tell me please, do you work in sRGB or Adobe RGB color space? I'm looking for new monitor and can't decide, should I pick sRGB or go wide gamut.
Get whatever you can afford. Sure, more colors are better. But at the same time, people are probably mostly viewing your art on their phones or mediocre monitors. Realistically, it doesn't matter _that_ much.
Could you do a video about sculpting? I have no idea what sort of clay I should buy if I want to sculpt statues of comic book superheroes and anime.
I'm maybe not the best source for that.
looks amazing :) yeah, more figures, portraits, especially if you can combine them in scene with amazing landscapes, environment, keep em coming if you enjoy doing 'em ^^
Thanks! Will do! :)
Can we use macbook air m2 trackpad to move cursor on kamvas pro 24 4k?
I don't see why not
How is the initial activation force? I have an older huion and it's legit on par with wacom sensitivity wise but I tried one of their newer ones and you have to press super hard to get a line
This would be my biggest concern as well. I like extremely low IAF.
@@TeamBradley true it really could just be the brand love or something. Thank you!
I’m looking for something that can be used to trace something out of a bunch of layers. Can you please recommend either this product or another that can help me pull images out of a mess and trace the image on a screen?
Thanks 😊
I have no idea what you're asking
Hi Noah, tell me please, do you use Clip studio for client work, or photoshop only.
I use CSP for just about everything these days!
lol yeah good tip!
Not sure if that helps but good luck!
@@angelanguiano4338 lol sanding nibs? Never heard anything about that--sounds... weird. :)
Is it better to have graphic tablet without screen + 2 monitors, or graphic tablet with screen + 1 monitor?
100% personal preference
You need to have the USB-C connected from your computer to the screen as well!
Nice!!
Are Kamvas Pro 24 (4K) fans noisy? I own Cintiq Pro 24 and it's very noisy, so I was wondering how they compare.
Nah not at all
First i want to say really nice video, i really liked how you reviewed the device.
Hey mate , how is your experience with 24(4k) ... Although for me it's very expensive in Europe
Does it have a screen protector that can be peeled off and replaced?
I'm sure you could find one, but I hate screen protectors
I’m not gonna edit that out hahaha! Btw it’s a bit irrelevant but have you been able to start the gym again or need to wait longer? 💪
Haha, I have! I had to wait a little while, but as of a few weeks ago I'm back to hitting the gym again regularly. Feels great. 💪
How’d u figure out ur colour calibration? I found my colours on my tablet (kamvas 22+) in a reddit post lmao
If you are prepared to spend over a grand on this, then you might as well buy a Wacom Cintiq Pro.
Did you watch the video? Even at the _same_ price I'd prefer to get the Huion!
I ll buy the 16 inch 4k version the 24 inch is sadly a bit out of my price range, but thank you for the review it gave me a good insight on how Huion compares to Wacom.
Good luck, hope you love it!
Loved to see him drop a thousand dollars piece of tech and not giving a f* about it. lol 😄
lol hey the keyboard thing is relatively cheap. :P
The thing about getting a review copy is not about you being super biased, it's about you not having the pressure of having spent a dime on the product. So you may innately and subconsciously diminish some criticisms.
If this broke today I would immediately order another one.
@@TeamBradley Based.
"and they sent me one!" lol, if they only knew about the drama...
I'm gonna guess other people have access to google too.
@@TeamBradley I'm gonna guess they didnt bother, they just saw the social media follower count. shrugs
They're making a fantastic product!
thanks for the video m8
real question is would you pay 1300 for it?
In a heartbeat.
@@TeamBradley good to know. thanks for the reply. and you say this is better than the wacom competitor basically?
@@DRAWKCABLLA Yeah I'd pick it any day.
@@TeamBradley good to know. I have the choice of fixing my broken phone or buying this. its a hard choice. tho my phone wont be able to help me with projects so idk.
