      thank you for the information. I make homemade yogurt at home and once its jarred and ready to "bake" i leave it in the oven with just the light bulb on over night. And this method that I discovered keeps the temperature at a perfect 100 degrees F. So I will try to use the same method for some dehydrated beef liver! Thanks for the video very informative and fun!

    The bit where you talk about increasing the surface area of the strips by spreading it out - gotcha. On some of my strips that were too thick in spots - I pounded it with a small meat mallet I have and that did the trick.
    I managed to slice up two boneless breasts and fit them all on only two trays. The thinner the slices, the faster they dry. We like em just a little bit chewy - not brittle like on another vid I saw. Thanks again!

    I know that some dogs eat a raw diet, but these treats are still considered raw even though they were dried, correct? Should they then be refrigerated?

    • @PAWDEGA
      @PAWDEGA  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for watching. The treats are dehydrated, they are no longer raw. They can be stored in a vacuum sealed bag in a cool, dry place :)

      Hey Kim! So great to see you here on our youtube channel! The dehydrator that we use is from Germany. It's not available in the US market but its from the brand Biochef and this one is the comparable product on the US market. amzn.to/3mgDm50
      It's not the one we have, but you may want to have a look at it and see if it fits your criterias. Here are some more links to our dog treat videos: th-cam.com/video/GNl0RiMnHUo/w-d-xo.html, th-cam.com/video/-sZyWw1QhlI/w-d-xo.html

    My machine has the plastic trays and chicken sticks really bad and cleanup is horrendous. Would coating the trays with oil prevent that sticking? Would oil hamper the drying process? Thanks guys!

    • @KingdomUploader
      @KingdomUploader ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@hannahandrainn That would solve it; thank you.
      Actually, my dehydrator came with two liners - sort of a mesh for drying herbs they say. I put the chicken strips on that and no sticking! Only took about 6 hrs to dry and the dog goes nuts for it!
      You guys didn't mention it but I found that cutting the meat partially frozen was so essential bc it let me cut same thickness. Working with the defrosted meat was a big mess.
      Glad I watched and learned from your vid. Great job!

      I cranked it up all the way - 160 i think. Some will be done in 4 hrs but usually takes 5 or 6. The hotter the better i say :) Cheers!

    can I ask why is it using the lowest heat on dehydrator instead of 65 to 70 degree Celsius for meat?

    • @lizanderson1805
      @lizanderson1805 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm wondering that as well, have always thought you had to use 70 degrees for meat.

    • @PAWDEGA
      @PAWDEGA  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      To retain as many of the nutrients as possible :) The lower the temperature, the more gentle it will dehydrate and the more nutrition remains.

    Any videos on dehydrating beef tongue or chicken or duck heads or feet? Maybe rabbit ears? These parts are quite expensive ready made.

    • @PAWDEGA
      @PAWDEGA  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much for watching. We don't have any videos on this, unfortunately. We have dehydrated green-lipped mussels before but we had to do it at a higher temperature (50 Celsius) as they are a bit thicker. Thicker ingredients can't be dehydrated at the lowest temperature as it would take too long and may spoil if it takes too long to dehydrate.
