    This video has been such a huge help, thank you so much! I recently found out that my dog is intolerant to some of the preservatives found in most store-bought treats so I bought a dehydrator to start making my own. I've made multiple batches using this video as a guide and they turned out great!

    As a future suggestion, if you are open to them, a video about preparing/preserving each protein and organs would be great. One of the greatest challenges when balancing my dogs raw diet came when i was searching the safety, based on bacteria preservation, of each meat.

    Love all your videos you have been a great resource for us! One question if you are able to answer or maybe I missed it in the video - if feeding dehydrated liver as a training treat is it the same value as regular liver for their daily portion or is it now less because it's been dehyrdrated (for example if I weigh these and incorporate it into my dogs meal plan as their daily percentage is it the same value as liver that hasn't been dehydrated?)

    • @PawsofPrey
      @PawsofPrey  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So there is some nutrient loss, yes. It shouldn't replace the organ meat that should be taking up the 5% of the diet, however it shouldn't be disregarded either. If you feed a ton of dehydrated liver, it may be best to cut back on the liver in the meal just a bit that day, but because of minor nutrient depletion from dehydrating, it shouldn't be used as a raw replacement!

    Oooo I have the get a dehydrator 😱😱
    Question: How do these treats affect the ratio of food you feed them that day/week?
    Since liver should only make up 5% of the daily in take - if you know you're giving your pup liver treats that day do you reduce the amount of liver you feed them? Or these small amounts don't affect them too much?
    I'm getting my pup in a month and I'll obviously be doing loads of training and will need to have loads of treats on hand so I'm curious if that'll throw her meal off balance.

    Pig ears form the store still have the skin on them. They remove the hair by dunking the pig carcass in boiling water for a minute or two. After that the hair is easy to scrape off. The process is called scalding the pig. You can do it too ears at home in a pot if you want to get rid of the hair. It would probably only take a quick dunk.

Since I still feed kibble and some nutrients in the kibble can be more which may let me get away with supplementing some nutrients and I’m kinda lost on how I can calculate if I still need to add in foods to fill those nutrition holes. It’s kinda hard to explain ahhhh. I’m feeding nature’s logic original btw, perhaps you can make a video about it?

    • @bethanymonteiro

      There is a myth about feeding kibble and raw together, but it has basically been debunked. If your dog is doing well with 50/50, then keep it up. I do have a balancing video of what you need to add in to the meal to fill nutritional gaps, but the amounts will depend on how much your dog weighs and how much raw you're feeding. Does it matter how much muscular organ I can feed?

      Too much of anything isn't great! But if you are giving them treats for training or just a few a day, totally fine. It's mainly organ meats that you shouldn't feed TOO much of.

    Don't you have a spatula? The hand smearing is really disgusting.
