Regardless of the person on the counter, if your animal fits in the travel bag properly, and if the dimensions of the bag are in accordance with the airline rules, no staff can and/or will turn you away. It’s not about the owner’s distress, it’s about wellbeing of an animal who would otherwise end up trapped under the seat in a too small bag for 14+ hours. In my humble opinion, Milka shouldn’t have been allowed to spend so much time in such a tiny bag, so yes, maybe it is up to a person on the counter after all.

@@mp7902 Thank you for your concern. In Milka's case, she was comfortable and slept through most of the flight as we opened the front of the bag, and she could easily lie down. At the end of the day, it is still a better solution than leaving her in Dubai during the summer where it gets above 45 grad and she has to be indoors all day. Always have to compare risk versus reward. If you are familiar with our channel, you know that Milka's well-being is always our priority.

Hey Cindy, Thanks for your comment. This is a great question. Based on my experience traveling in the US, all passengers with connecting flights in the US would need to exit the aircraft and clear US immigration and customs. This means the connecting city would actually be the Port of Entry (if you are traveling with a pet in the cabin or pet as excess baggage). In this case, this would not be allowed and may cause some issues. I would get in touch with a CDC-Animal Care Facility as they would be able to best advise on this.

Hey Charlotte, Thanks for your comment and question. The CDC website is not so clear about this situation. If another rabies vaccine is given, you may have to get another titer test done. But it would be best to double-check with a CDC Animal-Care Facility on this.

I received a response from the Quarantine coordinator/ Pet Limo in Miami. They stated "The titer is valid for one year, so she (our dog) would not need another".

​@@CharlotteHesterbergaccording to cdc the titer will now be life time as long as the pets vaccine does not expire and is re-vax prior to vaccination. Cdc say you will not need a new titer test. If you let the vaccine expire with no new vaccine then you would need to reapply for titer after the year.

@@cindyguerrero3802 I think this only applies if the dog is imported to the US and then revaccinated for rabies in the US. As long as the vaccine issued within the US does not expire or lapse and the dog maintains valid US-issued vaccinations, they would not require any titers anymore.

Yes, you are right. Unfortunately, under these rules it would not be possible to import puppies. Also, the CDC rules are changing August 2024 and are becoming even more strict. We are releasing a video about the new rules this week.

Glad it was helpful! When we moved to Dubai 8 years ago we brought her in from Germany via Cargo as this was the only way to bring her into Dubai back then. You can only import Frenchies through Cargo between October and April. Nowadays there are some more options via cabin, but the dog has to be below 8kg. Wishing you all the best

For us it, it basically took 45 days. If your dog needs a vaccination, then you have to wait 30 days before you can do the titer test. Then another 45 days after you get the titer test done. So it depends on if your dog needs to be vaccinated agin or not.

However, everything in this video still remains the same of your dog is flying into the US from a high-risk rabies country and they have also been vaccinated outside the US. The additional requirement is now the pets will need to be vaccinated at the Port of Entry. Yes, if you are using a broker then this would further increase the cost of service. If you're able to have the import permit issued before Aug 1, 2024, then you would then have until Aug 31, 2024 to import your dog under the current rules. We'll likely make a new video about this

@@PAWDEGA Thanks for your response. We were told we have to use a broker by the quarantine coordinator. It's probably worth the money to have the peace of mind in our case. We are unable to move our dog, Izzy, before August 31 unfortunately. If we had been aware of the new guidelines a few months ago we would have made a point to fly earlier.

Hey Jennifer, thanks for your comment. We flew from Dubai and had a connecting flight in Toronto. In Toronto, we went through US Customs Preauthorizatuon. This is where we declared that we were traveling with a dog. However, no one check her or her documents. We werent checked when we arrived into Newark, NJ either. But I would highly recommend having all documents for the import.

Thank you! This travel that was documented in this video was in June 23. You may have heard that French Bulldogs cannot travel during the summer months from and to Dubai, however, this does not apply when they travel in cabin. So you can use this method any time. Safe travels to you :)
