- 89 Honda Civic SI Surging Idleing up and down problem
this is a 1989 Honda Civic SI hatchback
Manual transmission Fuil injection
so the high and low Surging or Idleing is fixed now
far as I know and hear this Issue/Problem it's very common for the 80's Honda - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
Mine throttles, but only when the a/c is engaged after some time. After getting other parts of the a/c system replaced, I'm now onto the condenser to see if that's causing the issue. Didn't happen before I changed my radiator fan, but it also was dying so..
Sounds like you a low power, check all the ground make sure nothing loose or rust out

@@IshMotorparts hmm I’ll have to look into that for sure. I didn’t even consider that it could be an electrical issue where I might have a compromised ground.
Thank you for this, having this exact issue. I will update once I have located and solved the issue on my 89 civic sedan.
i hope you find the issue for your civic
Update
did you got yours Fixed?
Hey guys so yes I got it fixed! I have a dual point injection so my journey was a little different.
I pulled the throttle body and cleaned it. I removed the first throttle plate since is was being controlled by dash pot under vacuum and the dash pot did not hold vacuum good anymore. I also plugged up some more vacuum lines that are not necessary for operation. I did this last week and drove it 500 miles with no issues.
I also had this weird thing there when I park the car, the idle will surge and hold at 4k and just stay there. After all my work this issue was also relsolved.
@@mowgl_i wow that's interesting thanks for sharing and this will help a lots of people
Same problem. Check engine light comes on, problem resolves. Help!
Thanks 👍
my 85 crx will starts revs up to 3,000 rpm then the battery light will slightly turn on and then it dies, it starts everytime very roughly
Surging idle is often *a leaking exhaust manifold gasket problem.* Broken exhaust studs can cause the leak. Fuel injection computer tries to compensate the leaking exhaust gasket and that causes the symptom.
it’s keeps reading a iacv code though
@@xxkillerjoker3496man I have had the same issues! I fixed it though I just had the wrong IACV please MAKE SURE you get it FACTORY.
@josuerivera8602 which iacv did you get?
I'm having this problem only while driving
Any advice?
Sounds like you have a fuel leak
Ignition module
how much does it cost for mechanic to fix, lotsa labor involved.
A mechanic should know what his doing so shouldn't be lots of labor, but some mechanics charge you out your bottom hole, lol so I say around $100-$400 USAD
