Honda Civic CRX Idle Speed Adjustment - High Idle Fix

I show how to raise and lower the engine idle speed on a 1991 Honda Civic CRX Si. Let the car warm up, then disconnect the 2P connector from the EACV module. Next, connect a timing light with an RPM gauge to the spark lead on cylinder 1 and rotate the adjustment screw on the throttle body. Counter clockwise will speed up the idle speed, clockwise will decrease the idle speed. The target idle speed with the EACV disconnected is 650 +/- 50 RPM. This can be used to resolve high idle issues and can help pass a SMOG test.

But how do you get the idle to stay that way when you plug the throttle sensor back in?

Is the timing light necessary or can you just check the RPMs on the dash?

The RPM on the dash is not accurate at low RPM - this was told to me by a smog tech who failed my CRX.

@@ChronosCards my 99 is high at 2k as well. What should I do? I replaced the iacv and couple other things and still 2k. I just ordered a map sensor and a intake manifold gasket since alot of forums are pointing out those 2 things could be the issue but not sure yet. I know I've spent well over 900 at the mechanic and the mechanic still hasnt fixed my issue but sure enough took my money

Hi guys I just got an EF9. My idle is around 1.3 at idle. It is a B16A with B18 block . Is this idle rpm at 1.3-1.5 normal?

If I remember correctly it’s ok when I drive it after a while . There is a difference if I turn on aircon or off too
