Hello again, just wanted to thank you for this video. Finally got round to fitting mine yesterday. Just about to go and finish up few bits on it but this video helped me so much. I wouldn’t have bought them without it! Thank you 🙏

@@stoneautomotive fitted mine this week , wow what a difference so much more comfortable. I thought I had them to wide at first but huge difference on turn in it's like a different bike. Might pull them.back 10mm but great addition. Your video was hugely helpful 👌

Either make a little jig to help set angle of new clip on or, pop the old original one on top of fork leg, on top of yoke lining up original Allen bolts on yoke and the old clip on can be your jig. Don't always trust markings stamped on items. One millimetre out at the yoke end could be four or five mill out at the bar end. Nice bike btw.😎

      @stoneautomotive  ปีที่แล้ว +2

Completely understand what your saying, could be the same with the wheel being 1 could be 5 at the bars.. as you mention jig would be the best solution but for 1 install it’s not worth the time (especially given the state of my back it’s probably out of line a lot more than the bars 😅)

Blasting compressed air between the grip and the bar can be a good way to get the grips off without damage and without using any lube on them.

      Good suggestion 👍
Imagine more will have a small flat head screw driver vs an air line though 😅

Hello, does the r1 stock clip on handle bars fits on xsr 900 2022?

      Absolutely no idea I’m afraid.

How have you been getting on with them? I still haven’t gotten round to as I am leaning towards the GYTR ones… wondered if you had any regrets or would do anything different… I am guessing the can be cut down? I kinda want between stock and these.
    Hope you are well!

Just come back from spending some series hours riding round wales this weekend and honestly love them 😎
No regrets at all with fitting them, love the wider bars too as feels like it fits me much better

@@stoneautomotivethank you, as I plan to track mine more too it probably even more required. On the road the oem are ok at best for me but I too suffer bad hand pain with in a mile.. I have just tried them opened up (removed the locating pin) but the 10deg angle is uncomfortable and I also think still to narrow. Will order my Gilles ones today!
Hope we get a wales video with the R1M 😂 👍 seriously thought thank you for putting the time in with your videos, really helps!
Oh one more, did you change the lever because you had trouble with the master cylinder hose length or was that a non issue and you planned to upgrade the brakes anyway? I am considering ripping out the ABS….

@@ijwhiteman I sat on my friends 2CR with the stock bars a few weeks back and thought god that’s awful so can’t ever see me going back to standard, feels like you can move the bike around more with less effort too 👌
Glad to hear, hopefully have the 1 year review completed in the coming weeks, been pretty busy so hasn’t happened 🫠
I changed the master cylinder to try and get some feedback improvements, I had come from the RC8R with the Brembos and even though the KTM was 7 years older the brakes were incredible for feedback! The r1 just really lacked in feedback (power was ok) but now with the HEL master cylinder/ calipers one finger braking from speed is fantastic with serious precision 😎 only problem now is it makes the rear brake feel absolute rubbish lol

@@stoneautomotive thank you 🙏 really reassuring. The ones I was going to order (eBay had 20% off) the seller was a complete knob. So decided I will pay more and get the genuine GYTR ones. The ones you have would be too far forward for me. But the angle change and width perfect.
That’s always the way though isn’t it? Improve one thing and find another area of weakness! 😂

  • @ijwhiteman

Great video! Thank you for making this! Been thinking about clipons for some time now! Look forward to the review! Do you think they will be too wide? For me it’s more the angle than the width…

Glad you enjoyed the video, hopefully helps when you get round to fitting your own 👍
I’m actually enjoying the width for road use but I’m taller/ wider in the shoulders than your average user I would guess, you could cut them down or even purchase the Renthal version as the length can be adjusted on those 👍

Did you use any loc tite on the improvised bar end threads to prevent them falling out? Just curious.

Sorry for the silly question, can’t remember if you covered it in the vid.
How much longer ar the bars? Roughly? Look about 25mm/1inch… Could you tell me how deep the threads are inside? In other words if you cut and inch off to you still have sufficient threads to screw the adaptor in… thanks in advance!
Had my last ride Friday, she is now tucked away for winter 🥶.

Night and day difference on the comfort 👍
Obviously still a sports bike so won’t be mt10 levels of comfort but now bearable for 2 hour rides in a hit!
The bars are wide so if your tall it’s perfect but shorter riders may struggle

@@stoneautomotive I think you've convinced me. I have an MT10 as my every day bike but my R1M is just one of those feels awkward just in the positioning of the bars.

So much fun to mod bikes because it's so much cheaper than car mods, well most things are haha.
