- In this video you join me fitting the GYTR/ Gilles Clip's on to hopefully improve rider comfort.
The kit I purchased can be found on the Cresent Yamaha store -

Either make a little jig to help set angle of new clip on or, pop the old original one on top of fork leg, on top of yoke lining up original Allen bolts on yoke and the old clip on can be your jig. Don't always trust markings stamped on items. One millimetre out at the yoke end could be four or five mill out at the bar end. Nice bike btw.😎
Completely understand what your saying, could be the same with the wheel being 1 could be 5 at the bars.. as you mention jig would be the best solution but for 1 install it’s not worth the time (especially given the state of my back it’s probably out of line a lot more than the bars 😅)
Blasting compressed air between the grip and the bar can be a good way to get the grips off without damage and without using any lube on them.
Good suggestion 👍
Imagine more will have a small flat head screw driver vs an air line though 😅
@@stoneautomotive probably true! But any excuse to buy more tools. Oooh, look, shiny......
@@katywalker8322 👍🤣
Great video! Thank you for making this! Been thinking about clipons for some time now! Look forward to the review! Do you think they will be too wide? For me it’s more the angle than the width…
Glad you enjoyed the video, hopefully helps when you get round to fitting your own 👍
I’m actually enjoying the width for road use but I’m taller/ wider in the shoulders than your average user I would guess, you could cut them down or even purchase the Renthal version as the length can be adjusted on those 👍
Did you use any loc tite on the improvised bar end threads to prevent them falling out? Just curious.
Great looking bike!
@@fjones1914 I had considered it but as the factory didn’t loctite them and at some stage I will run a break lever protector it will be back off again 👍
Thanks, chuffed with it 😎👍
@@stoneautomotive Nice!
Thanks for the response!
Sorry for the silly question, can’t remember if you covered it in the vid.
How much longer ar the bars? Roughly? Look about 25mm/1inch… Could you tell me how deep the threads are inside? In other words if you cut and inch off to you still have sufficient threads to screw the adaptor in… thanks in advance!
Had my last ride Friday, she is now tucked away for winter 🥶.
Did this provide the comfort you're looking for? Im looking at doing the same thing.
Night and day difference on the comfort 👍
Obviously still a sports bike so won’t be mt10 levels of comfort but now bearable for 2 hour rides in a hit!
The bars are wide so if your tall it’s perfect but shorter riders may struggle
@@stoneautomotive I think you've convinced me. I have an MT10 as my every day bike but my R1M is just one of those feels awkward just in the positioning of the bars.
Awesome video, sir. We produce LEDs for autos and motorcycles. Just reached out to you via email for inquiring an opportunity of product review. Hope hear from you soon
Email responded too 👍
So much fun to mod bikes because it's so much cheaper than car mods, well most things are haha.
This is true 😅
