  • A Afirst generation R1 that I collected just 2 days ago and have already started to greatly admire.
    Its had a few custom parts added which I like. It runs great but has a few scuffs here and there. I don't mind that as it gives me the opportunity to make a few quick and easy changes to improve the bike and increase the satisfaction of ownership.
    This channel has been created because while I was researching R1s on youtube before buying it I could not find anything useful to me. Only videos of dickheads doing wheelies and racing down busy roads dangerously.
    This channel may suit you if you are curious about the original R1 and want to understand more about it. Maybe you're an admirer or possibly looking to buy one? The channel is about the bike.
    Im an English man now living in Japan so the channel may also be an opportunity to share with the world some breath taking scenery this country has to offer.

    I have 2 of these and I absolutely love this generation of r1 I have 1 that is a street queen and I have another that I heavily modified in the motor and intake portions of this beast!! Awesome bike you will regret selling it if that day comes the new R1 don’t handle as well as this year

Just this week ordered a stack of parts including full clutch kit, cables, full service kit, chain & sprockets, carburetor rebuild kit and much more. Great bikes and I won't part with mine, after this long its kind of part of you. Look forward to the transformation👍

    Use warm air drier to get tank pads off, easy and straight forward. No damage if you know what your doing.

    Nothing screams amateur like a blacked-out windscreen. If you ever want to track it you’ll understand why. ‘99 R1 came stock with 190/50 ZR17.

      🤣 not everyone wants to use them for track, doesn't mean they are amateur.

      My 954rr came with a blacked out screen. Swapped for a clear double bubble. Arizona sun started melting my dash via the clear bubble. Something to say about the dark screen, yea lol. Switched to a regular dark tint after. I do like the clear, though.

    Difficult bike to ride fast, power delivery exiting turns is non linear & harsh. I had one from 2003 to 2015. It's still a sharp looking bike though.

    • @riderjapan1731
      @riderjapan1731  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I did read that the later bikes had less snappy power delivery

    I think the 08-16 R6’s must of got there design for the front fairing from this bike 🤔 I got a 03 R1 in silver with only 20.8k miles 👌🏾 debating if I should keep it or not lol

      @riderjapan1731  ปีที่แล้ว

      2 years of use and still no marks on the paint. Maybe its only heavy duty motorcycle jacket zips that will scratch?

  • @fireblade3682

    That's a nice looking bike, but if you have a liter bike and don't plan to brake the speed limit you won't have any fun on it.

    • @riderjapan1731

      not true. its great to ride at any speed

    Your taste in what will make this bike look nice is horrible, no one keeps those long levers in the U.S. You have the taste of a 65 year old man.

    • @riderjapan1731
      @riderjapan1731  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have Rc2 levers by CRG now. The US is the world leader in terrible mods. 30 inch car alloy wheels, those Harleys with long stretched out front forks, everything covered in the American flag design etc

    Hopfully the second gear doesnt slip. I bought a blue one and it would jump outta gear in second. I tore it down and replaced the 6th and second gears .. i still have it

      Very common on those generations of R1 to have worn out gear dogs
