Someone said once that if your kids don't both love and hate you, you're not doing it right. They love you for caring about them, they hate you for being firm and teaching them right from wrong. You're not a friend, you're a parent.
Be the responsible one. Say no and mean it and don’t have food in the house he should not have. Jaylynn knows his mom will give in. That’s why he keeps at it. He will stop when she stops giving in.
My heart breaks for these kids, it’s not their fault. Their weight is a consequence of their parents decisions and not being able to say “no” to some foods.
Tatum Soto true and simple, the food culture starts with parents. If parents give bad food to their kids, it’s a form of child abuse, because they are setting kids for failure in the society and life.
Pathological parenting. True- i am very mildly overweight not too severely but i felt bad for these kids, i am in cali and they had healthy food and its the second richest state in the US but Arkansas or Mississippi are much poorer than cali or new york, thats why many poor families had to buy very little healthy food, and buy alot of junk food to feed they’re kids, causing them to be overweight but in rich states like NYC or Cali the increasing of inactivity caused us to get fatter 30 years later

At my elementary school we had this thing called "a healthy snack cart" and basically every two lunch periods this lady would come around with a cart filled with snacks like cheese strings, yogurts, fresh fruit, cheese, crackers, peppers/carrot sticks and the cart would stop at every class. Most people don’t have a basic understanding of nutrition. They just eat what they can afford and don’t think about making balanced meals. Food is used as a babysitter. Need a break? Give them candy. It’s a terrible cycle. I feel for these families because they really just don’t realize what they’re doing. 😭
However, what I don't understand is that everyone has access to a cell phone. You literally have the WORLD in your hands. You can look up "nutritious food", "nutritious meal on a low budget". Deeds and words. Deeds and words. We were poor, we walked to the grocery store to buy food, my mother and my father COOKED wholesome meals at home. There's no excuse.
I’m like 20-30 lbs more than I should be for my height/body shape, but what helped me lose weight was getting a puppy! Having the responsibility of walking the dog everyday helps with this journey, especially when you can make it exciting, like going on hikes, nature walks, etc
Adding fuel to the fire: obesity can also depend on education, annual income, cultures, and pre-existing health conditions. My heart goes out to families like this, but I won't judge them.
I like the analogy of a teacher and their class. If one student was failing you would blame the student. If half the class was failing, you'd blame the teacher. That's what's going on in society now with obesity.
Mental Health has a lot to do with it... Like- people crave entertainment and emotional attachment. When someone is ostracized or bored, they may look for more food for comfort. When they saw their parents do something their whole life- they will probably do it as well because mom or dad said it was right.

Try cutting out High Fructose Corn Syrup for a week. Then eat something with HFCS in it. You find yourself absolutely CRAVING anything sweet the next day. It acts like a drug.

yupp, if he was really THAT hungry he'd eat the fruit. It's clear that he just wants more food.
Fruit has a lot of carbohydrates, notably fructose which is toxic to the liver and turns off fat burning. Eating fruit just makes you hungry...so not a good idea. Instead - green leafy veggies, broccoli, spinach, cauliflower and cream soup with chunks of chicken. Yum. That will fill his belly and let him lose weight.

To have junk food as lunch in school is beyond crazy

So true. Here in France there are only healthy options, and water to drink. They expect children to be healthy but the school cantine isn't even setting a good example. It is so sad to watch, they have no clue and aren't given the tools to know or do better 😢
@@7fiona7Seems like it’s purposely set up this way here, they have been speaking of how the food should be healthier in lunches, and many districts were making them healthier, and yet over the last ten years it’s actually worse, they offer healthy options in a lot of schools, yet continue to have all this sugar and junk available, and every one can’t understand why diabetes is soaring in kids, teenagers, and on up, and now the same is happening with colorectal cancer, it seems the people who can change this don’t care, or worse, want people to get sick, and of course, money is made off all these cheap, processed foods, and then for the healthcare, despicable
Free lunch food but the kids have money for junk. A great once a week BUT everyday!!!😮
At my elementary school we had this thing called "a healthy snack cart" and basically every two lunch periods this lady would come around with a cart filled with snacks like cheese strings, yogurts, fresh fruit, cheese, crackers, peppers/carrot sticks and the cart would stop at every class. You could take whatever you wanted from the cart for free and sometimes she'd have students help her out/assist her with handing out the snacks. It was pretty popular. There'd even be baked goods occasionally, like little cinnabuns or apple crisp. Honestly, it was a really good idea looking back and I think every school should have something like that.

Mental Health has a lot to do with it... Like- people crave entertainment and emotional attachment. When someone is ostracized or bored, they may look for more food for comfort.
