I've had a c-notch kit for my 69 lwb for 6 months. This video may have given me the push I need to dive in and drop it down. Thanks for this great video!
Someone in the past 50 years, notched my frame and did not install reinforcements at all, just a cut frame 🤦🏻♂️. I installed the cpp notch, super happy with it now.
great job guys!!!! that c notch piece looks rugged, thats gonna lend a lot of reinforced strength right there where your sring/shock/airbag is!!! plus the coolness factor to go with it!!!!!! awesome !!!!!
Yeah, it's actually a super quality piece. If you look up the part number, CPP actually sells it as their notch designed for 63-72 trucks that will tow frequently. It's beefy. And the bolt-on aspect makes it very accessible by any DIY hobbyist.
@@albertocarlos2193 no, thanks. That bad boy is plenty strong. So many bolt-on suspensions and c notches out there these days (Porterbuilt comes to mind), no need for welding in a notch designed to bolt in. It's got bolts along the bottom of notch as well as reinforcement. I've driven it and totally comfortable with its rigidity.
Planning to do this to my 66 swb chevy with big back glass apparently someone pur on PS vintage air con but I seen you talk about a power brake kit for my s10 booster then wood bed kit her has electronic ignition already man il be on the road and Planning to attend a c10 truck show man keep your fingers crossed for me and my baby blue with white top and all factory chrome can't wait bro
haha! The editing was generous. Drilling out rivets are the toughest part. You need plenty of good, sharp bits and lots of batteries for drills or compressed air.
Very informative vid, you have inspired me to start my own channel "Boss Chevy C10" don't have any content yet. I commented on your last vid as marc from charleston. Keep up the excellent work my B
And you guys missed the the explanation of you need to block up the rear of the frame cause when you cut it without it supported it will sag I did mine with the bed off and it dropped I guess your bed held yours
After the notching. Did the differential hit the bed? Asking because I’m going to be doing the same and need to know if I have to get a 3” raised step bed for it.
They do, but naturally bolting them in is a better option of DIYers who can’t or don’t want to weld. That sucker is definitely in there and reinforced well.
Fella's This is an AWESOME well done and explained video, just finished mine and it went GREAT thanks to you guys, keep em coming. Only issue I had was them damn rivets are a BITCH. Also relocating my panhard bar, I am kinda stuck but other than that, it was fairly simple.
I think you just lost 2/3rds of you frame strength behind the “C” notch. Now, you will get high centered on a pot hole. Time for a winch and double check the four-way flasher! Question; How do you turn left or right. Hits the fenders regardless of KPI or SAI lift. Skid plated or oil pan, that is the question!
I have a relocated gas tank under the bed and have flexible braided fuel lines. I just pulled them out from the frame and we were very careful not to nick one on that side.
It’s hard for me to work with buddies that just throw stuff I mean there was no frustration with Ron and tell Ron that we seen what he had he about had the hole ls swap don’t be hitting up folks for donations the fella went to the Texas speed and got a load of stuff and could have went with cheaper stuff
These frames are c channel right? Why would somebody ever cut and butcher the frame to access the upper spring bolt?? Sad to see! Good video though, thanks for the content!
They are! That particular bolt is behind the part of the upper spring plate that actually boxes the frame (sorta) in that spot. That said, still accessible with an open end wrench of any length.
Yeah, we tried that Diablo 100x longer diamond blade and it was doing the trick but Ron is old school and liked the fact that the regular cutting discs are easier to use in tighter spaces once they begin to wear away. New blade for cutting and one with wear for grinding.

That was the exact intent!
Glad to see you got it notched. It will ride much better!
Yes sir! Thanks, Fisher.
That cutting angle was amazing lol
haha trying to bring the footage
Awesome upgrade to Teddy! Glad to see that you don’t have to take off the bed to do this. C-Notch is now on my list. As always, thanks for sharing.
Thanks, David! It definitely makes it a little more challenging with the bed on but we did this in an afternoon/evening.
Good friends and new truck parts. It’s hard to beat that combo!
So true!
Nothing like a nice Old School Cut off wheel. Very much enjoyed.. Thanks for sharing...
Sweet! Thank you for tuning in
about to do this on my 80 and my 86 c10...good stuff!
Someone in the past 50 years, notched my frame and did not install reinforcements at all, just a cut frame 🤦🏻♂️. I installed the cpp notch, super happy with it now.
It's a quality piece for sure!
The only way to run a grinder. First thing I do as well.
bahahaha
Really great video. My 67 C-10 frame has be stripped from my truck without my marking the rear end placement so your video helped me find true center.
Awesome!
I still remember when I did mine by myself.
Hello from Mexico buddy.
It can be done for sure. But a lot more fun with friends! Thanks for tuning in.
Nice work & video on that c-notch
Thank you!

You guys did a great job on the install!
Thank you! Nothing like a little driveway cutting and grinding.
Just the video i needed to watch!
Awesome!
How do you get your friends to do the work lol by holding the camera
Nice !
I did the same on my 63.
Rides nice now.
Yeah, it's already made a huge difference on Teddy. Road-tripping a little this weekend so that'll be the real test.
Whitlock Garage I would recommend welding those up bro.

I hear ya.
The roads in Cali are bad, that’s why i welded mine.
Good job
Really good video bro now I know what to expect
Thanks!

Job well done 👌👊💢
Thanks, Walter! 👊🏼
Nice work boys!
Thanks!
Didn’t look extremely difficult. Great job guys.

Thanks very much guys! You really help me a lot !!!!
Glad to help!
Gonna to be jumping on this project soon , but I think I'm just gonna pull the bed off should be easier
Certainly would, but we wanted to show it could be done with bed on
Good work 👍 thanks for sharing.. keep it up
Thanks for tuning in!
Nice job, looks great! I just added something to my long list of things to do... Thanks, lol.
Haha! It's what we do.
It’s so much easier with help I did mine by myself 🙈 now I have 10” notches which were worse to setup
Very informative vid, you have inspired me to start my own channel "Boss Chevy C10" don't have any content yet. I commented on your last vid as marc from charleston. Keep up the excellent work my B
I thought the same thing !
That's awesome! Please do. We need more classic truck content out there in the world.
Whitlock Garage i agree you’re channel is blowing up already and it’s only gonna go up from here.
Good stuff guys! You're making it very hard to not buy a toy pickup!
Please do! And thank you.
hi nice job. I like it I'm thinking off do it to my s10 extend cap 89 thank u
Nice video.
Thank you!
Any part# for that fuel tank? Would help alot. Thanks!
It's a boyd welding tank - www.boydwelding.com
Wise words from Master Ron!
Master Ron?!?! i like that.
What about using a plasma cutter here? Would that work as well?
Yes it would! Didn't have access to one at the time but do now
And you guys missed the the explanation of you need to block up the rear of the frame cause when you cut it without it supported it will sag I did mine with the bed off and it dropped I guess your bed held yours
Never seen that happen before, but we had the jackstands under the rear section of frame.
I wonder if you could shorten the C10 frame 12" as you put this piece in?
Yeah, because brake lines, fuel lines, e brake cables, exhaust and driveshaft will shorten(and balance) themselves
After the notching. Did the differential hit the bed? Asking because I’m going to be doing the same and need to know if I have to get a 3” raised step bed for it.
Hey guys, loving the show! What size bit y’all use to drill those holes to fasten CPP c-notch to frame?
Not sure off the top of my head; likely whatever the bolt size called for.
@@UNITEDBYTRUCKS isn’t it Dangerous grinding around the Gas tank ?

@@UNITEDBYTRUCKS yea right till ur frame starts to bend

Right! 🤦🏻♂️

Sweet! Glad you enjoyed it and found value in it.
I did a 4/6 drop on my 06 Chevy but it rides like crap. Would the notch make it ride smoother?
If the axle is hitting frame, yes for sure.
weren't you supposed to level the truck out ? before doing any cutting and notching ?
Not sure exactly what you're asking.
Like make sure back end is leveled out Before the cutting
What size drop was on teddy at the time of the c-notch install? I’m assuming 5-7 but wanna clarify!
That's correct!
Do a c notch on a 84 c10
I need to do this to mine man teddy looking good brother ! You plan on airbagging it ?
Thanks, Hermen! Planning to get the rest of your giveaway package out this week. And yes, ultimately bags. Ultimately. 😜
Hey boss did you have to do anything to the rear sway bar bracket.. did the cpp c notch clear it ?
No rear sway bar
@@UNITEDBYTRUCKS im sorry I ment the axle track bar, did the c notch clear anything speciel need to be done ? Thanks for your time .

Did you also weld it or bolted only?
What did you do with your fuel lines did you disconnect them or somehow relocate them? I have the same issue with my f150
I have a relocated gas tank under the bed and have flexible braided fuel lines. I just pulled them out from the frame and we were very careful not to nick one on that side.
Whitlock Garage oh okay I have stainless steel lines so I’ll have to either bend them (not the best idea) or disconnect them
It’s hard for me to work with buddies that just throw stuff I mean there was no frustration with Ron and tell Ron that we seen what he had he about had the hole ls swap don’t be hitting up folks for donations the fella went to the Texas speed and got a load of stuff and could have went with cheaper stuff
It's all fun and games. Nothing serious. We have a lot of fun working on projects together.
Can you still tow with a c notch
Some make a heavy duty cnotch kit for towing, I know cpp has one for c10
Yes, the heavy duty notches box in the frame there usually(made from two pieces) and provide plenty of strength
What kind of rims are those and what size
Detroit Steel Wheels D-Town. 20x8 in front and 20x9 rear.
Does anybody know where to find information on c-notching a 1960 c10??
www.67-72chevytrucks.com
1960 should be very very similar if not just like this one

Hopefully you painted that raw steel.
Nope. Rusting away under my truck.
NORMAL RICHARDS AT WORK............................
Im sure that wasn't a compliment but I'll take it as one. :)
Lol
you gave up on those stupid diamond cutting wheels?
Yeah, we tried that Diablo 100x longer diamond blade and it was doing the trick but Ron is old school and liked the fact that the regular cutting discs are easier to use in tighter spaces once they begin to wear away. New blade for cutting and one with wear for grinding.
