Thank you for doing this review, I needed a budget friendly option and this gave me a good summary of the product. I made the purchase and enjoy it so far.
Great overview. I was in line at Costco and they had the pallet of their protein right next where I was standing. I wondered how it was, searched TH-cam, and found your video.
I’ve been using the Ascent protein for as long as Costco has been carrying it. I did not switch to the Kirkland brand. I was looking more just out of curiosity.
The price and "plain" flavor is why I'll always have this on hand. I may not always be in the mood for other unique flavors, but I can always have this.
The price is good, but crazy enough, Costco sells MyProtein, which is cheaper than the Kirkland brand. So if you're looking to save even more money that's another option.
Just wanted to let you know this protein powder is available for purchase for non-members on Costco's website. I'm contemplating on ordering a bag; would be nice for them to expand the line with Vanilla as well as Strawberry flavors. I wish they used monkfruit, stevia and/or allulose as the sweetener of choice for the protein powder..
Are you sure you don't have to be a member? Last I checked you had to. What's drawing you to trying this protein? Just curious when there's so many options out there.
based on the Costco mobile app, there’s not a “Members Only” icon being displayed for the KS Protein Powder like other products such as the Isopure and Optimum Nutrition Protein Powders. I’m contemplating trying it because of its value for the money, 70 servings for ~$55 seems pretty decent to me, plus I like the KS brand protein bars. I don’t have a Costco membership, never have, given there’s not currently any nearby Costco locations to me; would be nice if there was though, because prices are even cheaper at the warehouses.
@@OneStopShopGarage That's interesting. I'm not sure if things changed since I made this video, but I swear I thought you had to be a Costco member. I bought the product back in August. But if you're right, you're right and that's good news for non-Costco members. So as you know, Costco sells a bunch of different protein powders, including their own Kirkland. I've tried all the other ones, too, and I'm in the process of creating a video to rank them worst to best. I can either just tell you right now which one is the best (in my opinion) or you can wait for the video lol. Happy to spoil it early if you're looking to make a decision quick.
@@feast_good looks like TL changed the vanilla flavour at least recently. sunflower lecithin and 1g of sugar is present. I'm unsure if that's lactose sugar. Previously there was 0g sugar and no sunflower lecithin. I'm starting to get some digestive trouble now since I've been using this new formula for nearly a week. I am now trying lactojoy pills before my protein shake to see if that helps.
Update.@@feast_good I had to get off transparent labs whey isolate vanilla as the 1g lactose sugar was triggering me. Tried some lactase tablets which helped initially but then I got sick from them. I'm sure the strawberry flavour had 1g lactose as well, that was the flavour i was using the first few months and I think it was fine. I Switched to per4m whey isolate zero white chocolate which uses sucralose instead of Stevia but has 0g lactose sugar, it's quite sweet and tastes really good with milk. No digestive issues either. I'm happy with it and it is cheaper since its not imported from America.
@ I agree, what I did to fix that is pour a little bit of water in to start the mix process and get it to a mousse/frosting consistency. Then add the rest of the water and it seems to work fairly well. Thank you for all of the great content!
@@jmichaelg84 Actually, I've 100% done that before and it works like a charm. I don't think the average person will know that hack, so when I test protein, I try to use it like a normal person would use it so it's more relatable. And thanks for following along. It means a lot.

Nice, glad I could help!
I've been wondering this myself. Costco has always been my go to for so many bulk products. Thanks for the review!
You're welcome. It was fun trying it out. But ya, for me, it just doesn't hit the mark on some of the things I value.
I've been waiting for this 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Lets gooooo. Happy to answer any questions.
It’s pretty good. Not too sweet like many protein powders are
@@dcosio97 Oh that's interesting. I actually found it to be pretty sweet. But taste is a personal thing.

I’ve been using the Ascent protein for as long as Costco has been carrying it. I did not switch to the Kirkland brand. I was looking more just out of curiosity.
kirkland is always on top for budget options, I've been eating their protein bars for awhile and the value is pretty amazing
Hmm, I think there are better budget options out there.

Are the Kirkland protein bars 3rd party tested? Those are actually nasty but they had good macros 😭
I don't think any of the kirkland brand of supplements is 3rd party tested. I can't find any information anywhere about that.
Do they have 3rd party testing?
I said this in the video, but no, they do not.
can you test the per4m isolate zero series please?
Never heard of it. Looks like a European or UK brand. As such, I won't be able to test it.
@feast_good no worries, they've got a wide range of flavours. I might try the white chocolate one myself
@@Pro4TLZZ Let me know how you like it. Curious what it's like since I can't test it.

I thought it tasted/mixed much like the gold standard whey powder…
Oh that's interesting. I actually find Gold Standard to mix up a bit clumpy.

Saw this on the shelf but there is way too much junk in this product. Will be avoiding. Thanks for the review.
Ya, it's a pretty full-on ingredient list. That's exactly what gives me pause, too.
“Thick, but smooth and creamy.”
Lol, ya...
