The Kawi and Suzuki 650s are lame though. The motors feel so.... yeah. While fz/MT-07 bangs up third gear wheelies at 60 mph as it comes. Not saying they couldn’t do more but really no ones putting any real competition up. At least in that price range and that’s part of the joy. I have rid an R6 multiple times now, but I am advised to not buy a big bike like that for first, but go with something smaller to learn riding. I checked mt 03 and Kawasaki z400 and now I am here looking at the mt07, so I am back at 600+ bikes, altough less horsepower and naked, Idk, I dont want to buy a smaller bike for a lot of money to just buy a bigger one later and lose half of my money. The bike is fun, feels great to ride and I get a lot of compliments from a bunch of people in my town. Makes me feel confident on the road and I know it has the power to pull if I need to get out of a sketchy situation. This is also the first bike I felt like I really understand what the bikes limits are and how far I can take the bike. I'm 21 been riding since I was 18. The fz07 is a tank. I put 33k miles on mine in a little under 2 years. During those 30k miles i only did oil changes every 3k miles and changed chain and tires. Not plugs, filter, nothing. Ran amazing until it was stolen and totalled when i moved. I also went over the handle bars at around 50 and only thing was plastic scratches and passenger pegs needed to be replaced as well as plastic tear near rear seat but i never replaced it. My first bike so i neglected the hell out of it as well as being poor and not wanting to take to dealer for maintenance. Wont make those mistakes again with another bike because now i know how bad it was to neglect my bike but then again she ran as good as day one so i didnt mind. I rode it like i stole it every mile i had it. Riding like a hoonigan by wheelies and going street rossie ( very ameauture) so for anyone looking at the fz07 as a first bike, in my opinion it is the best bike to learn on. Very fun and reliable. As someone who chose a Yamaha Bolt over the kawasaki vulcan s, it's not nearly that simple. The vulcan s has a super flat torque curve, never makes any real power, and is still faster than a stock bolt. However, the bolt has a torque curve, a place in the power band where you get that lurch in your stomach.
Yamaha already has a 60-ish hp/torque cruiser, and doesn't need another one.

    Lowsided it twice
Messed around with it also removing the throttle bodies to put cheapo chinese filters. (I was really bad at taking care bikes i was 17) i just recently started appreciating the bike and learning how to ride properly and damn its a good bike.
Already did some suspension upgrades and its much much much better. Plus it never dies. Battery is still new and its almost 4 yrs old.

Royal Enfield is putting smiles on many faces with relatively old tech. Guys are leaving their 850 Adventure in the garage and taking a little 411 thumper into the hills. Analog gauges, no leds, no computers and people are loving them. My dealership can't keep Himalayans or MT07's in stock. I roll a 2017 FZ07 myself and even after 35 years riding, it never fails to make me happy.

Don't know how popular they are in the US, but I just bought a BMW F800R and I'm absolutely loving it. It's powerful, has a shitton of torque, and has amazing suspensions aswell as a full set of brembo brakes. Since they're replacing them with the latest F900R, you can get decent prices on a F800R with all the options ("packs") such as electronic suspensions, luggages attachements, driving modes, led lights, heating grips etc. For about the price of a CB650R, you get a 90hp, 86 N-m (63 lb-ft) monster.
Last but not least, being 1m80 (6ft ) tall, this huge 200kg (440lb) German bastard of a bike feels like the perfect size to me. All the Japanese equivalents (CB650R, SV650, MT-07, mainly) feel like toy bikes next to it.

just got my first bike today. was originally looking at a yamaha r7 or a ninja 650. sat on both loved the look of the r7 but didnt like the comfort of it, sat on the ninja 650 and loved the comfort but for some reason didnt feel confident with it, i was almost intimidated by it. for some reason i decided to sit on a yamaha mt 07 and absolutley loved it. i wasnt in love with its looks but as i was driving home with it loaded in the bed of my truck it was growing on me. got it home and took it for a short ride and fell in love immediately it was like a perfect match. enough power to have fun but not too much to get into to much trouble. as a lifetime dirtbike rider though i could also probably go for the mt09`s power, so keep that in mind if youre looking to get into motorcycles. edit: the seat is just a touch hard but not to bad where i think i couldnt ride for an hour or two so i might replace that and exhasut is a little quiet for my taste but other then that, awesome bike.

Yammie! Been hunting for an MT07 for a month or two now, exploring the world of naked sport bikes as an aspiring new rider. I stumbled across a strange inline four 600cc naked called the Benelli TNT 600. From what I can gather they’re not very common but I found a few affordably priced for sale in SoCal. I’d really value your opinion on this bike and how it stacks up in the naked middleweight class. Love the channel. Thanks in advance.

I'm completely content with cheap, barely functional parts from the factory. As long as they make it dependable, attractive and have enough aftermarket support for the bikes, they can keep it the same. I enjoy upgrading and working on my bikes myself. Keep them cheap and let the customers configure them how they want.

Not being picky but pretty sure 48 triumph speed twin had 360 degree crank, the trident triple was first with its 120 degree offset. Also the first British bike with a one piece forged crank. Apparently it was forged flat, then heated and bent to 120 degrees.

So about a month ago I test rode both a brand-new cb650r and a brand new mt07. Thinking I'll be buying the mt07 early next year at this point and I gotta ask: what is this "Honda build quality" you keep talking about? The cb650r I rode had a very loose throttle and the clutch had no feeling to it at all. overall it left me feeling like the bike was just a pile of really good parts that weren't put together well. That mt07 though, it felt perfect the moment I sat on it. Felt natural to ride and I really couldn't find even the slightest signs of poor build quality. I have to mention the displays on both as well, the CB's was poorly positioned and generally difficult to read, the mt's though was easy to read and understand, and well positioned for the riders line of sight. To me, the mt07 felt like a well built motorcycle, the cb650r didn't.

Well, I also thought 2017 of such a bike, MT-07, SV650, Kawa ... and my winner is Honda NC750S.
I, know it has just 55HP, but the suspension is much better then on the MT-07, so it handles better and i can easily keep up on twisty roads, where the fun is ... especially when rinding road legal with a lets say 25% margin ;).
Although Yamahas CP2 is creating a big smile, on the NC I can even take a big mommy with me. The MT-07 suspension isn't capable of that!
Beside that the quality feel is also better, the fuel consumption is unmatched, and the trunk is big enough for day trips.
